Hi! I was sleeved 10/2 and have maybe lost 10lbs. I think it's still just really early to consider what is actual weight loss. I feel my belly and it's still very swollen, no BMs, etc. A lot of factors contributing to weight right now. My doc gave me a tip for sitting up that might help you. He said to roll on my side (which still pulls the incisions) and then sit up. Using the side muscles puts less stress on the incisions and doesn't hurt as much. Sounds like you're doing great. I am going to try yogurt today... Wish me luck :-)

Post Op Octosleevers 2012. Welcome To The Losers Bench!

Yes! Freezing! Our seasons are about to change so that could be part of it but I am significantly colder than anyone else in my house and that's usually not the case :-) -
This Should Make You All Smile. And Maybe Roar.

Love it! Might just be the one that goes on the bathroom mirror in cut vinyl! -
Sitting at the coffee shop in the grocery store while my mom picks up chicken broth, yogurt and butterscotch pudding. I made it as far as the protein drinks and called uncle. So shaky I can barely function. I think I need more sugar and protein. This sucks.... But on a positive note I feel smaller :-)

Sleeve sister! Similar stats to you and same surgery date. Feeling good too but having a hard time getting fluids in. Looking forward to taking this journey with you! I'm in Seattle, where are you?

Sleeved 10/2. While trying to comfort my 16mo old tonight, I adjusted him higher on my chest and felt my stomach pull. It's the first time I have felt any discomfort besides the incision sites. How do I know if I damaged something internally? Has anyone else experienced this?

5 Days Post Surgery
ThinkThin78 replied to thereisonly1sara's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I completely relate. My family had pizza tonight and I really wanted some. Opted for instant creamy chicken soup instead and stayed away from the dining room. I found that Popsicles have been going down really well. My surgeon actually said I need to get calories from somewhere so if I could tolerate it I could do the ones with sugar while in the liquid stage. Had to change up the flavors today though :-) Lots of wishes for everyone's continued success. -
6 Weeks Out Results So Far!

That's awesome! You look fantastic! -
It never hurts to make a quick call to your surgeon. I think they are mainly concerned about color green or yellow could mean infection. Either way, you should get it checked out.

Post Op Octosleevers 2012. Welcome To The Losers Bench!

I stopped drinking out of the medicine cups and that has helped me get a bit more fluids in. I have to remember to take small sips but I think it helps me push myself a little bit more. I really want food :-(. Family is having pizza tonight (one of my favorites) so I quarantined myself to my room.... Soon enough I will be able to have pizza again but just in moderation, I have to keep telling myself I'll get there and I'll be healthy when I do get there! Down 20lbs since my pre-op appt 9/13! -

I just wanted to chime in that the roxicet was making me really nautious and spitting up. I determined it's either too thick or I'm drinking it too fast. Either way, I watered it down to about 1:1 and sipped it over 15 mins. Finally got it down with no problems and my pain thanked me -

I'm having trouble getting water down too. Popsicles have been going down really well though. I finally can pee without working up to it on the toilet for 10 mins. Had some gas in the bottom end but no BMs yet. Day three and no pain meds all day! Feeling pretty good, just tired. -

Sleeved yesterday 10/2. Feeling pretty good and thankful to be home in my own bed with no cords attached to me. I've had the slimes twice and am not doing very well with my fluids. Pain is pretty manageable though I am still taking a half dose of meds. Thanks to everyone here I know it will get better soon. Congrats and good luck fellow Octosleevers! -
October Sleevers! Announce Yourselves
ThinkThin78 replied to SkinnyMinnie2Be's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Today is the day! So nervous and scared. Not so much for the surgery, I'm pretty confident I know what to expect. Surprisingly, I slept last night and could actually go back to sleep now. It's still all pretty surreal. Prayers for my fellow Octosleevers, especially all of my sleeve siblings also beginning their journey today! Will keep everyone posted on my progress! Woot! -
I waited a week until I called and found out it had been approved after 2 days. Then realized the letter (which I thought was junk mail) was sitting on my counter unopened! The surgeon had to review my chart and confirm we were ready to schedule, got my date about 10 days after I found out I had approval. October 2!!!!

I'm October 2 too! Trying not to think too much about it so I don't start to freak myself out.

Any Seattle Wa Doctor Recommendations?
ThinkThin78 replied to peachclouds's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Dr. Crouthamel at Puget Sound Surgical Center in Edmonds. I'm still pre-op but Dr. C is so caring. My appointments with him have never been less than 2 hours because he gives me his undivided attention and truly wants to be sure he has addressed all of my questions and concerns. The coolest thing about Dr. C is that he has had the surgery himself so he has been through all of it and can speak from experience. Good luck with whoever you choose! -
Sleevers With Small Kids
ThinkThin78 replied to MommaMeg01's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My kids are also 3 and 16 months :-). My surgery date is 10/2. I talked with my doctor regarding lifting the kids and he did say I probably shouldn't pick them up or let them crawl on me for the first few weeks. I'll have lots of help with the kids so I won't have to worry. As for the risk ... I could drop dead of a stroke or heart attack any minute. I need to do this now for my kids not only so I can be here for them for a long time but so that I can be a role model for them by living a healthy lifestyle so maybe they won't be in my situation 30 years from now. I also vividly remember the kids at school making fun of me because my mom was heavy (and I was too). I don't want to put my kids through that, kids are mean enough without giving them a reason to tease. My chance to get healthy is now and I suspect your chance is now too. Good luck! -
I'm doing the low carb pre-op diet too. Less than 40g/day. I've read nutrition labels before but it never really fully registered how many carbs I was eating! It's hard to find stuff to eat. Day 3 (of 18) almost over and still totally within the plan... Turkey burgers are getting old though ...

October Sleevers! Announce Yourselves
ThinkThin78 replied to SkinnyMinnie2Be's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi everyone! I've already "announced" myself with surgery date of 10/2. Very excited, scared, you know the feeling. So many of you are posting about fantastic pre-surgery diets, exercise programs and weight loss and I am eating like there's no tomorrow. What is wrong with me?!? I am about to embark on a lifelong journey of eating right and I can't get myself to commit to eating right today. Maybe it's food funerals, maybe it's addiction, but I have never felt so out of control with my eating! Is anyone else having the same issues? I'm so terrified that this isn't going to work. I felt like it was a sure thing and then I started reading about people gaining 50, 100 pounds back or losing 40 pounds and nothing more. I can't be that person... But I also know I can't be the person who works out 7 days a week. I know I can do this, I am a smart person and I can do anything I put my mind to - I just need the tool to help me do it. Sorry for the rambling, I guess it helps just to say it to someone and get these feelings off my chest. Thanks for listening :-) -
My doc said alcohol is ok just beware of the liquid calories and stronger effects. As for carbonation, he said that since the sleeve is still relatively new, we don't know what the long term effects are. Maybe stretching, maybe something else, we just don't know.

October Sleevers! Announce Yourselves
ThinkThin78 replied to SkinnyMinnie2Be's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I guess it depends on the surgeon but my surgeon said there are no "nevers" as in "you can never have X again". My understanding is if you want a drink (even a beer) a year out, you can in moderation. Some people will not be able to tolerate the carbonation and you need to be very aware of the liquid calories, but it can be done. Just plan on a designated driver because the alcohol will affect you much differently than before. Clearly, if your friends are going to ditch you because you can't drink with them, it's less about figuring out how to drink and more about finding new friends... I suspect though that your friends are just as scared as you are. They love you just the way you are and are afraid your physical change will change who you are on the inside as well. I think they'll be pleasantly surprised when you're still the same guy except you don't need alcohol to get a buzz because you'll be high on life! Congrats fellow "Octo-sleever"! -
October Sleevers! Announce Yourselves
ThinkThin78 replied to SkinnyMinnie2Be's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi Everyone! I am also scheduled for October 2. Looking forward to this journey but scared too. I'm 34, married with two kids (3 and 14 months). My highest weight was 399 (first pregnancy), avg non-pregnant weight has been 364 and I lost 10lbs on my 6-month supervised diet. I'm ready for this but I just don't have any willpower. I am so disappointed in myself for only losing 10lbs with amazing resources to help me for 6 months but I just couldn't get it together. I pray that the sleeve will give me that extra support that I am missing, I just need the jump start to be on my way. Good luck to all of you! I am so looking forward to taking this journey with you and can't wait for the weight to start coming off! -
At The Begining Of Next Month I Will Have A Date!

Need Your Thoughts Please
ThinkThin78 replied to TxMimi's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used to get the lump in my throat along with a really fuzzy/tingly feeling and found out it was anxiety. Do you think it could just be nerves?
