  1. My biggest challenge was the lack of energy. I was losing weight very quickly, and living on so few calories, that it took almost 3 months to feel almost normal. On low-calorie days, I still fight it. But it's all worth it.
  2. Amen to what everyone before me said. If I could have done it on my own, I would have done it long before now. I'm 4 months out today, down 56 pounds, wearing a size 14 off the rack, and I thank God for this opportunity every time I look in the mirror. Hang in there!

    Why Doesn't Anyone Say Anything?

Some people have limited social skills, some people don't want to get slapped for sexual harassment in today's hyper-PC environment, some people are too self-centered to notice anyone but self, some people don't see you as a particular "weight," and some, like a woman I hadn't seen in awhile, thought I had cancer. Even my boss said something, but he thought that it was a new haircut. People are funny.

Not At All What I Expected!

That's the beauty of this board. We are not alone.

Beautifully put. Family and food: Such a tangled web.

Not At All What I Expected!

Every change brings a type of grief process. I wondered, "WTFoof have I done?" I felt weak, and awful, and in pain. I hated depending on others to help me. I hated the post-op diet. I went through Christmas without being able to eat. I had no energy. BUT: About the 8th or 9th week, something clicked. I couldn't believe the changes I saw in the mirror. My energy started coming back. Hang in there. You will get healthy. You will get better. You've undergone MAJOR surgery, a shock to the body, and your body has to find its balance again. I would do it all over again, with no regrets. Do what your doc says, heal, and what you are going through now will be but a distant memory. Truly.

    From Band To Sleeve

Hey Down: I had my revision done 4 months ago, and I'm still ecstatic. I don't know what your history with the Crap-band is, but mine was miserable. Now, with the sleeve, I can eat things like peeled apple, cooked broccoli, and white-meat chicken. Having a Band first helps one adapt easier to the eating style required by the sleeve. And I've lost more with the sleeve than I did with the Band. The feeling of fullness is different, as is hunger. With the Band, my stomach used to rumble. Now, I get a cold, tight feeling, and that's my hunger signal. Tip #1: Use the blasted baby spoon that the doctor will tell you to use. I still use it. I carry one in my purse to use in restaurants. Bite size matters. Tip #2: Don't buy too many new-sized clothes at one time. I buzzed through 18s and currently wear a 16. Tip #3: Follow your doctor's orders to the letter. We revisions are 30% more prone to leaks. Do what he or she says. Without. Fail. Some people on this board brag about eating popcorn and pizza within a week after surgery. They are morons. Tip #4: Get used to looking at yourself in the mirror. You won't believe the changes.

    Calling Kaiser Patients

He did my sleeve in December, and he and his team are wonderful! I am so pleased and doing well. Congrats!
  10. I'm 3 1/2 months post-op. Breakfast: 8 oz. unsweetened vanilla almond milk with 1 scoop Isopure Dutch chocolate. Mid-morning: 5 oz. Greek yogurt with 2 oz. berries. If I'm busy, I skip this and have a cup of coffee with 2% milk. Lunch: 2 - 3 oz. of left-over dinner. Dinner: 2 - 3 oz. Protein with a bit of veg. Dessert: 1 Atkins bar.

    Hostility? Why?

Let's face it. Some people just plain suck, and there's not a lot that we can do about it. I think you rock.

    Soda=Never Again

Thank you for the warning. I've been tempted to try some, but now, not so much.

    7 Week Gain?!

Raisin, I agree with Emily. Ditch the scale for a week, and concentrate on doing what you are supposed to. The body does everything in its power to keep our weight stable. It's called homeostasis, an ancient survival mechanism for times of famine. I'm 3 1/2 months out, and can go up .5 of a pound without breaking the rules. Maddening, but something we just have to gut out, if you'll excuse the pun.
  14. I've never yakked, and the only nausea I've experienced was after eating some low-carb ice cream. Love my sleeve.

Lose And Loose Are Two Completely Different Words

    What'a Your Favorite Sweet Treat/

I refuse to eat anything that doesn't have decent nutritional value, so my favorite sweet treat is an Atkins Cookies and Creme meal bar. Tastes like Oreos.

    Low Vitamine D Levels

Mine was 19, and didn't affect the surgery date. Now, three months out, I can finally "stomach" the 50,000 IU capsule.
  18. My appointment is at 10:30. I have to drive an hour and a half to get to Harbor City. I'd love to meet you, too. I hope it works out!

  20. I am so excited for you! There's not anything that Dr. Mun could have done to make me love him more. He is wonderful, and you are in very capable hands! My 3-month follow-up is tomorrow. God bless!

Rant: Nothing In My Closet Fits!

My church runs a thrift store, so as I realize that something is too big, after I wear it, I wash it, and pop it into a donation sack. I ordered some summer things in my new size rom Ebay, and will pop those into the sack in the fall.

    Loose Skin

:)I'm proud to be a bit "flappy."
  24. I'm 3 months out and still eat about 600 - 800 calories a day. I get hungry, but it's very mild. Sometimes I forget to eat. Amazing.
  25. My surgery was done by Dr. Mun at Harbor City. Great facility. I have my 13-week check-up next week. I've heard good things about Dr. Zane, too. The other doc, I don't know about. Glad for your good news!
