  1. Friends list - green box with number inside - what does it mean?

  2. I've looked around but can't find what this means. Is there a place where I can find the abbreviations used on this site?
  3. oh and thanks everyone for posting answer. I love it!!! And Ooops I WILL be sure to post the NSV when I can cross my legs again!!!
  4. omg - I thought the same thing! I'm thinking geez why don't you change your medical person if they are such a NUT! Figured that one out on my own though!! lol.
  5. Hi - Good luck to you. I'm set for 4/23 surgery. I too have struggled with who/who not to tell, especially some in my family who will try to talk me out of it and think I've lost my mind. And I've been told by some medical professionals that I carry my weight well and don't look like what I weigh. Um, thanks? My joints know. I'm so glad to have found this site and all the support here.

Checkin' off the "gotta do's" and you're getting closer!!! Congrats!
  7. Your story hit a nerve with me, and a memory came back. I am preop right now, surgery date is tentatively 4/23 - my husband was sleeved March 2011. Anyway, 3 years ago this August was my 25th wedding anniversary. The family was planning a party for us. They decided to do an outside event. As soon as I heard that, I got anxiety. Being the center of attention, in the heat, with all my fatness on display? I would be a sweaty mess. I couldn't do it. No thank you. I came up with an idea - I told everyone we really didn't want a party and that my husband was taking me away for a long weekend in celebration. We did go away overnight, but that wasn't the point. I really wanted a party. My fat stole from me what would have been a wonderful moment in my life yet again. I'm so done. Thank you for reminding me that I am absolutely 100% doing the right thing.
  8. What an inspiration! Congrats to you!

    I've Been A Bad Girl...

Well Rhap, since I'm new and preop, I don't know much - but I do have my husband who is 1-year postop to tell you about. He has lost 100 pounds, but could have lost much, much more by now. I must admit, I wasn't much help to him this past year but little by little he increased his eating. He has a real sweet tooth, and he indulges. He has definitely stalled in loss and routinely regrets "eating too much" and too fast.I can see he could easily start to gain again at this rate. I can see how this surgery can be undone and am afraid for him. Hopefully, once I have the sleeve next month, he will get back on track with me. My advice to you is not to beat you down, but just warn you - be very, very careful with what you are doing. You know you can, you came this far not to undo it.

I felt the same way about finding people "my age" when I found this site! University of Michigan has a cut off age of 60 so at 56 yrs old, that freaked me out too! Time is flying and I want to be healthy and slim!!

    For Those Who Love Soda...

Wow - I am so grateful to all of you and this site! I am a month away from surgery and still on the Diet Pepsi. I know I have been told I can't have it after surgery and need and want to give it up, but it actually scares the hell out of me! It was so comforting to hear others were just as hooked as I am and got over it, maybe even won't want it anymore, and there might be a chance to have a little bit once in awhile if I choose to down the road. I feel so much better - I love you people!!
  12. I hope next month after I'm sleeved, I will be able to post like you!!! Congrats!

    Where Is Everyone?

Hi All - I'm Joni. I'm preop and tentatively scheduled for April 23, 2012, surgery. On March 19th, I'll be going to a nutrition meeting to learn all about protein and the 2-week preop liquid diet. My husband had the sleeve done last year this month and has lost over 100 pounds. I weigh 211 right now and my goal will be 140. I'm from Michigan and having surgery at the U of M.
  15. Hi All - I am a newbie here. As I wander around and like some of the entries, blogs, etc., and then want to follow that person or find out more, is clicking to make them a friend okay to do and/or the best way to follow? Thanks - Joni

  17. question about friends

  18. Hi Everyone! I'm new here and just started a blog to keep track of my journey. I'm very interested in finding out more about others and sharing info. Everything has been submitted to the insurance company for approval and a preop nutrition class has been scheduled for March 19. Next will be the actual surgery date which is soo exciting! I'm very nervous about the 2-week liquid preop diet. As someone here said, if I had willpower when it came to food, I wouldn't be in this situation weighing 211 pounds at 5 feet 4 inches! I'm 56 years old and tired of being fat. I have been telling myself for over 15 years, next year I will lose weight. I have attended WW countless times, and every other diet under the sun. My husband was sleeved last year and has done wonderful - down over 100 pounds. It's time to change! - Joni
  19. Thanks for replying Irene and for your words of encouragement - It feels great to make a connection to someone!

    Pre-Op Diet...

I am waiting for my surgery date and the 2-week liquid preop diet is the scariest thing to me of all! My husband did it a year ago, and he had his hard moments but made it through. When I think about the fact the surgeon will be able to tell whether you complied or not makes it a little easier to stick to it too I think!! I wish you the best of luck and hope it flies by for you. Joni
