Ooooh... You better talk to your doctor before taking the year old medicine. He'll know what to do. Even if it postpones your surgery to get your blood pressure under control, that would be much better than the complications that could come up! I know that's a bummer, but better safe than sorry.

Hey Crabcake, Less than a week to go! I know you are excited. Aside from pre-op dieting, (my dr. does not require) what are you doing to get prepared? Any other May Banders can "weigh" in on the subject. I've bought liquid Tylenol, Gas-X and chapstick. Stocking up on flavored waters, broth (better than boullion IS good) Carnation Instant Breakfast and Kool-Pops. Any other suggestions? Hers's a great post for post-op check-list of things to have on hand. http://www.LapBandTalk.com/showthread.php?t=32599&goto=newpost Hip-Hip Hooray for those Banders Of May!!!

I don't know the answers, but my friend seems to have settled in a comfortable place for her and if she is happy, that's what really matters.

The only experience I have had knowing a lesbian with weight issues was always a quandry to me. She was extremely overweight, never dated or had much to do with any men. She lost 100 pounds through diet and exercise, met and dated a man for over a year, started gaining weight again. They broke up and now she has come out of the closet and is in a relationship with another overweight woman. Was she always gay? Or, has she just given up on men and turned to more weight forgiving women for love and companionship? So, could there a group of women who might not really be gay, but would rather be in a psuedo-lesbian relationship, albeit not the ideal situation, than alone? Something I have always wondered about.

Hey Crabcake, Thanks for the note about the May Banders. I'm going to Dr. Richard Stahl here in Birmingham and will have my surgery at Shelby Baptist. I'm planning on going to the Lap-Band support group that meets at Dr. Schmitt's hospital. Maybe we will get to meet there!

Hi I'm joining the May Banders Club! I'm scheduled for May 24. I just can't believe I'm actually getting to do this! It is a dream come true. I'm self pay, but oh so fortunate, my precious mother is doing this for me. Yes, I am a little nervous, not so much about the surgery, just the happily ever after! I'll be in touch now that I know about the May Banders.

Hi Crabcake, I'm a fellow Alabamian, I saw you on the Alabama support group thread. BTW, I love your name! I just bought some one cup and 4 ounce snack size cups with lids in the baby department at Target in Birmingham. I'm sure Wal-mart would have them as well. I'm getting banded on May 24. I'm so excited and a little nervous! I'm just trying to get prepared and thought those snack cups would be a good idea too.

Hi, I'm new here. I just got my surgery date, May 24, with Dr. Richard Stahl at Shelby Baptist. I am so excited and terrified at the same time! I would like to join the Birmingham support group, if you'll have me and look forward to meeting my fellow bandmates. I also would love any tips or advice anyone wants to pass along. Thanks!
