blindjustice got a reaction from jovi2673 in Would You Have Weight Loss Surgery Again?
I have never looked back since I had my new "birthday" on Dec 21, 2011!!! As others have said, I only wish i had done it sooner. I have been at a stall for the last 3 months or so, but I know what I've been doing wrong...carbs, carbs, carbs. I am vowing to get back on track starting right now. No more sugar or wasteful carbs.

I'm in Lexington too. Dr Weiss at Central Baptist. I'm 17 months out and doing great! I would love to meet some buddies. I'll be at the support group this Saturday at the surgeon's office at 11am.

blindjustice got a reaction from BrittNicole in post op soda
I am 18 months out and I haven't had a coke, soda or pop since about 2 months pre-op. I was so surprised that I haven't missed it. The only time I even think about a diet coke is when hubby and I go to the movies. popcorn and diet coke just kinda go together. I have heard so many bad things about them being painful and all around bad for you that I don't even want to try. #1. I am not into pain. #2. I don't want to go against my docs orders. and #3 I want to follow the rules since VSG is such a big step to change my life for the better.
My sweet tooth has never gone away...that's been my big downfall and has contributed to my 4 month stall. I just have to say no.

blindjustice got a reaction from avanti in What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
I think my last straw was after I saw a nutritionist and I weighed in at 357 lbs at age 41. From that day forward, I have been on plan and I have never looked back. I am almost 16 months out and I feel like a million bucks! I got on a plane without needing an extension or buying an extra seat (EMBARASSING) and the tray table went all the way down AND I was in the middle of a 3 person section. I felt like I didn't make them feel uncomfortable. I felt NORMAL!! I avoided going to concerts because I and those people sitting next to me were miserable. I can't wait to see another concert!! I can fit in restaraunt booths comfortably and I have lots of room between me and the steering wheel in my car!!! I have so many more NSVs. Thank you sleeve!

blindjustice got a reaction from Gina6682 in Grieving the Loss of a our Friend.
I grieved for probably the 1st 4 months after surgery. Even now at almost 16 months out, if I go to dinner with friends and they have plates and plates of food that I just can't have anymore, I catch myself falling into a pity party. I just try to remember why I did this surgery and how far I have come. I have lost 153lbs. I'm learning that going to dinner and eating like my sleeve wants me to is just as satisfying as going to gorge myself like I did all the years I was morbidly obese. I am also learning that I don't have to stuff food in my mouth in order to be included in the socialization piece of dinnertime. I That is the hardest part of this WL journey for me.
