Yep, UHC seems to misplace stuff a lot. My paper work got sent at the beginning of December but I didnt get any word until the end of January. At least they approved me.

Dont fret too hard. Look at it like this, no one has said you cant get your band and wouldn't that be the absolute worst.

Glad to hear you are doing ok. Yes, the gallbladder removal will affect how you process greasy foods. I had mine removed ten years ago and yes I can eat greasy things but I pay by running to the bathroom (get the picture). So is it really worth it. So all in all that has been a help to me since I have been banded cause I had already cut out greasy foods before. Also, I got my first fill today, YEAH!!!

I love my band. I have had no major problems so far. I did go for my first fill but the doctor was unable to locate the port's center so I am having the fill done under fluoro next week. Other than that I would say it has been uneventful. I am losing weight at a slow pace but that's been ok. I notice I dont have the same appetite as I did before so overall I am satisfied with my band.

Road Queen, Yes, it is normal to feel stiff. I felt fine the first 2 days but on the 3rd day I felt like I had done too much exercise. You will be swollen for a little while, I think mine was about 4-5 days. Believe me it gets better. Try walking it will help with the stiffness and the swelling which is probably a result of gas.

Kristan, That is fast weight loss. What is your secret? What are your meals like a day? Are you exercising? That is great.

Bernie, Believe me you have made the right decision. Yes, the lapband has a slow weight loss but it is better to lose it slowly than rapidly. Remember your spouse to be is marrying you who you are today so they wont care that you did not lose weight by the time you get married. Some folks tend to lose weight right after the surgery and others dont until after their first fill. Hang in there dont get the downs yet. You'll be OK.

Yep, I can feel mine only when standing but the doctor couldnt hit it to give me my fill so now its off to fluoro for me.

Thanks Kathy, I was thinking flipped port meant surgery. If they can do it even though it's flipped I'm not gonna trip out. Thanks for the encouragement.

I went for my first fill yesterday and after much sticking and probing the doctor decided to send me to have it done under fluorscope. Then he mentioned the bad things i.e., port could be flipped, scar tissue. Should I be worried or could it be he just couldnt find the center of the port? Help, I am flipping out.

Yes, you really want to get that taken care of. My gall bladder got inflamed and infected and I landed in the hospital for a 9 day stay. No fun! Take care.
