Wanted to let all of you know I have a surgery date. It is March 16. If you thought I was excited before I am very excited now. Have any of you been banded by Dr. Jeff Allen? He is coming to Washington, DC to oversee my surgery which will be done by my doctor (Jason Brodsky) and I wanted to get some input into his skills. I feel like I'm the guinea pig but someone has to go first. My doctor had many folks who had their requests for lapbands rejected from their insurance and mine was the only one approved so far. He has done several Roux en Y and other surgeries of the sort but I will be his first lapband with the assistance of Dr. Allen. Send lots of prayers he wont mess up on me.

Donali, Oh so true!!! Great read and great info.

Well thanks for the input Pat. And Greg, I know I have all those prayer that will be sent up by all of my friends I have met here. Just hurry up March.

Proclndoll, I started all off talking to the surgeon who them sent me to all the pre-surgical exams back in July. So let's see I had a psych eval, cardiology exam and stress test, gastro exam, nutristionist evalution and sleep study. Went back to the doctor who is going to do the surgery in October. Waited for insurance approval from that point until they called me mid January. Yep, seems like I've been waiting for a while!

Brandi, Congratulation on the new baby. Congratulations on being able to maintain your weight.

Thanks everyone. I am going to really take that advice from Betty. I have been training myself to drink more water and learn how to sip and not gulp. As for the walking I need to have someone put pins under me but I am even going to start to do that on my treadmill. Leatha, you've lost more weight, great! I'm going to have to use you as my inspiration. Jamie, you'll get a date soon enough as a matter of fact we may even be close to the same date.

Thanks Blossom and Marie, I am very excited and wishing tomorrow was March 16. Someone has to be first so why not me!!!!!
-
Jonathan, Congratulations on your band. I sure hope you get better soon, you're scaring me. I'll say a little prayer for you.

OOOweeee, you should show pictures like that to folks who haven't been banded yet, we might want to change our minds. I hope you get better soon. So they took the port out, did they put another one in or does this mean you are not banded anymore???? -

Greg, You have definitely been on a roll in this thread. And I had pegged you for a nice reserved man. What happend to him, where did he go??? Ok ladies, dont tell me he's really Dr. Heckle and Mr. Tide. I would suppose that Dr. Heckle was out this go round. And when the clean Greg returns he's Mr. Tide. He is quite the comedian. Did you all look at the card he sent us. Hilarious!!!! -
Simply fabulous. Thanks so much for sharing. I hope I will have a success story like that!
-
Hi there, You may have to make a trip to Washington, D.C. I havent heard of anything up your way. And perhaps even closer I think someone does it at Hopkins in Baltimore, MD.

Lauren, Best of luck to you. I hope all goes well and wish you a speedy recovery. Think clear thoughts as you stay focused on the clear liquid diet. -
Hats off to you Leatha and Nancy, When I grow up I want to be just like the two of you!!!
-
Babs, You are absolutely beautiful. Those extra pounds are nothing compared to what you have already accomplished. I hope to be like you one day. Stay focused and when you least think about it those other pounds will just melt away. Good luck.

I have a tentative surgery date of March 18. I go to see the doctor this Friday (1/28) for my pre-op consultation. I'll let you all know if anything changes.

I dont know how all of you all felt but yesterday I got my approval letter from the insurance company. I was estatic! Today I sat and watched the telephone all day wanting to pick it up to call the doctors office but was too afraid that someone would tell me they made a mistake. So what happened, my phone rang and it was the doctors office calling to congratulate me cause they got my approval letter and had just got off the phone with the insurance and gave them a date of March 18. Can you all believe that, I have a date, I think I'm gonna cry. I am so happy I could bust. I probably wont be able to sleep just thinking about it. Ok, somebody tell me to shut up. And yes I am tripping out!!!!! :banana :banana :banana :banana :banana :banana :banana :banana :banana :banana

Welcome aboard. These are great folks in this group. Lots of brain power and collaborative effort. Dont be afraid to ask questions as there are no dumb questions. The thing I admired the most about the folks in here is that they all pull together to try to help you out where they can. Good luck to you.

Thanks Betty and Marie, now all I have to do is get that surgery date. I cant wait. Then I'll be bugging you all to help me thru that liquid/soft food stage. Oh well, how does that saying go -- Rome wasnt built overnite.
