You only need to worry about it if they are using antiquated technology from the 70's or early 80's. I removed what jewelry was possible. I left my white gold ring on, and nipple rings in. Even in other surgeries I left my 000ga prince albert in, and that's with a catheter in place as well!

Not too concern about Hair loss since I shave my head anyways. Now that I'm 2 months out, my my 9"+ beard has grown 3"+ inches. When I was much younger I could easily grow it 20", but suspect that being 330lbs interfered somehow.
anyone else experienced this?

I find that I still have a sweet tooth.
I think about the pies that will be around during the holidays nearly every single day. lol Luckily my will power is pretty strong and I find that the craving passes quickly.
Three Muskateers was my sin. Just thinking about one made me crave it, but now it and other sweets don't even remotely phase me.

I am 10 weeks out. I am constantly craving mustard, vinegar and diet Pepsi. Separately that is. What are your cravings? Past or present.
Immediately after surgery I craved for fried rice. Recently integrated mustard into my meals again and discovered it has a whole new flavor for me now. While not a craving, but before surgery splenda tasted like a chemical, afterwards it tastes just like sugar.

I'm 3.5 months out and find that I am starting to eat too quickly. Sometimes I try to have a magazine to look at while I'm eating to slow me down a bit. I was told my meals should last around 30 minutes. I do not take that long at all and do not have any trouble eating. Any tips or tricks to make my meals last longer? And what do you think the purpose is for eating so slowly (aside from the pain it can cause)?
I use my phone and keep track of the time, about a bite or two a minute. Doing something while eating definitely helps makes it easier to pass the time. The real trick is to understand what your portion size is before you begin to eat. For me, hamburger patty and a couple slices of cheese on top will result in about a bite or two not eaten. So even if I do eat fast, that fullness will come on within the next 20 minutes.

My dr. also said the absortion of alcohol will be different after the sleeve. It will be much more potent.
it comes on quicker, but it's effects wear off even quicker (at least for me).

Wow!! I'm sleeved!!
It seemed like it took forever for my insurance to come through with an approval, but it was really only about 10 days...once we got that, everything happened REALLY fast!! I went for my preop that Thursday & was sleeved the following Tuesday (9/20).... surgery went very well -- had absolutely no problems & barely any pain at all. Was walking within an hour. The worst part was not being able to drink anything the day & night of surgery...and then the week + of clear liquids, which i'm still on. I have my post op tomorrow & I'm hoping that Dr. Cavazos will move me to the "mushies" stage.
I have to say that the care I received at Foundation Surgical Hospital was absolutley OUTSTANDING!
If you're lucky enough to be sleeved there, you're really in for a treat -- everyone there was wonderful!
Yeah The Foundation hospital totally rocks, wish more places were like this.

Try Think Thin bars, 0 sugar.

On my first real bowel movement after 3 days of diarrhea, big clumps of blood plopped out. My doc said it was the result of surgery, haven't had it since.

not to mention you need to be careful that you aren't replacing one addiction with another at such an early stage when your body is used to getting loads of calories.

Another one here, and just got freshly sleeved. I ride a Honda VTX 1300 w/ full gear no matter what time of the year. Even tho I'm only 4 weeks out, most of my gear is too big for me already (boots, gloves, jacket).

I waited a week before mounting my vtx 1300. Rode around a bit in the parking lot to ensure I would be able to pull the bike out of a situation if necessary.
