  1. Gosh darn movie theatre popcorn. Almost cried the first time I looked up the nutritional information (Thank god I didn't finish a small to myself). From now on I am going to be taking crispy minis buttered popcorn flavour in pre packed 100 cal packs. Movie popcorn is a trigger for me for sure. I feel like I need to be snacking at the movies if someone has popcorn.

  2. Hey everyone. I am 5 1/2 months post op and am going to the states in April... Still a couple months away, but I know I will not be in maintenance yet.

Here is my point. Every time I have been to the states I have always gone to Sonic and enjoyed the strawberry Creamslush, and lets be honest used to always get large. In Canada we do not have Sonic, so not like I can get it frequently.

I looked up the nutrition on it and it has around 440 calories for a small, and a lot of carbs. That is more then half my daily intake of calories right now. I will not lie, I want one, however I do have the willpower now to say no. What I am curious is if you think I should give in on the trip and let myself have a small as a treat or do you think it would open up pandoras box?

Honestly just looking for opinions do not be afraid to express yours at all!

  3. I love this community, and have found everyone on here to be so caring and compassionate. Although I will never actually meet many of you, I feel like part of a large sleeve family.

Anyways I just wanted to share my first NSV. As a child I played soccer, it was my favourite thing to do and I would do nothing by look forward to the next time I could play soccer. Then I hit puberty, and started gaining weight. I stuck it out for a few years but at 15 I stopped playing, I couldn't physically keep up, and was depressed. The weight held me back from doing the one thing I truly loved to do. The key word is held, because its not stopping me anymore, now that I am 70 lbs down I have joined soccer for the summer and in the mean time am going to play indoor soccer. My first game is tomorrow, and all I can say is how excited I am to have my life back.

Please feel free to share your NSVs, I love to hear them.

  4. Hey everyone,

I am 5 months post op. The past 2 weeks I have had a constant headache and am constantly feeling tired. I haven't had labs done yet, my doctor is gone til next week. I have always taken my multi but did not know I needed to be on Iron, Calcium and B12 consistently. But have started those and magnesium after reading about it on here, so about a week on those (taking Iron every 3 days, someone told me to be careful with iron til my labs are done).

Anyone gone through the same feelings, what did it end up being?

Any body have any ideas on why I am feeling so crummy?

Also just thought I would mention i intake 600-800 calories 60-80g Protein and usually 48 oz Water. I know its less than I should but I am drinking a lot, and struggling to get 64 oz.

  5. I had the worst luck with keeping Protein down. I loved nectar before surgery. After it made me want to vomit. I tried nectar, unjury, premier and about 10 different types. By the time I was about to give up (2 months post op) I decided to try Unjury again, and I was able to finally tolerate it. I think I had to realize how gross they could get to realize how good Unjury was in comparison.

There is hope, just give it time and you will find something that works, or you will find a happy medium with meats, cheese, egg, Beans, yogourt etc.

  6. I was not tubed when I woke up, but what I wish I would have known before is how a tiny tickle in your throat before surgery could develop into pneumonia. I was told to not be sick, and figured I must have slept funny or something so went through with the surgery (I was self pay in Mexico and was already there). Turned into full blown pneumonia and I was hospitalized for 3 days. But now I am healthier then I have ever been. Since the pneumonia I haven't even caught a cold.

I wish I would have known that to reschedule it, but nothing makes me regret getting the sleeve and getting my life back.

  7. I had to take an anxiety pill as well, I had to open the capsule and swallow all the little ball things inside. That one was easy. But on my way home from my surgery (had it in mexico, live in canada) a cough I had got worse and my breathing became painful. Went to the hospital as soon as I got off my flight and I had pneumonia. They gave me the childs medicine because it was liquid form, but my sleeve and tastebuds found it to be completely repulsive and even a small bit sent me into vomiting fits, so they had to admit me into the hospital for 3 days. They needed to give me the adult pill version, I needed to take it for 14 days. For those 14 days I cut the pills into 4. Worse tasting medicine ever but if I swallowed it quick enough I could do it. Luckily by the last 2 days (17 or 18 days post op) the doctor told me I could try taking the pill whole, it might just cause discomfort. Luckily for me there wasn't any discomfort and to this day I have just swallowed pills. I am 5 months now and I am able to swallow these horse size calcium citrate Vitamins.< /p>

  8. Hey everyone, I am 5 months post op and have been taking nexium. I am getting really worried about the long term use and bone density issues. I have noticed that my joints and bones are aching like never before.

I am wondering if anyone has been able to successfully stop taking ppis and how far post op they were.

Also has anyone had any experience with pepcid or zantac?

  9. My periods went really wonky after surgery. I got my period 5 days post op which was about 2-3 weeks earlier than normal. Then my period came 4 weeks after that (I was used to 6-7 week cycles) and there was spotting a couple days before it came. Also once that period started the bleeding was heavy. I was bleeding through overnight and maximum pads every 3-6 hours which had never happened before.

  10. The title pretty much says it all. I have tried Water cold, warm, with sf crystal light, sf koolaid.

I find I can only do a few sips every 30-60 minutes or I get stomach discomfort.

PS I am 6.5 weeks post op.

    Has anyone experienced this?

I am also intaking my Protein, definately falling very short there. I eat slow but cant eat more than half an egg, quarter can of tuna etc. I am definately noticing a loss of muscle tone because of that to.

  11. I am looking for something that I can microwave when I have a time crunch. I was personally thinking Gourmet Choice Healthy Steamers (I would eat the beef and maybe if there was room a vegetable or two, obviously not the potatoes or sauce). I found the nutritional information online and its not great but I am wondering if anyone might be able to guess how the nutritional information would adjust with me mainly just eating the meat and maybe a vegetable or two? This is likely a stupid question but would heating the meat up with the veggies and potatoes some how make the meat absorb some of the carbs?

Here is a link to the nutritional info, just click on Beef Merlot. http://www.healthychoicecanada.ca/en/healthy-products/#

Anyone have any other suggestions, I dont want to do swanson or hungryman because they have the meat in the sauce already.

    Thanks!
