  1. Hey everyone, I have been very successful with my weight loss, went from a bmi of 43 to 21.5. Was doing about 1000 calories, but my blood pressure keeps getting lower, and my doctor is starting to think it might get to a level of concern so I upped my calories to 1200, I am around where I want to maintain, wouldn't mind an extra 5 lbs but am okay where I am at. For some reason now that I have upped that 200 calories I have seen myself gain a pound or two in the past couple weeks of 1200 calories. I will note my exercise has gotten screwed for a couple weeks due to being very busy, and due to a medical issue I will be our of exercise commission for at least a month.

I am torn what should I do. It freaks me right out to see the scale start going the other way. On the same token I don't want my blood pressure to get too low that I need medical intervention. Any advice would be greatly appreciate.

  2. Hello folks, its been a long time since I have posted.

Everything is going pretty well with me. Literally half the size I once was. Currently weight 117, lost 117 lbs.

Now, the only bad things, I went to my gp and asked him to get my blood tested to make sure my levels are good. He looked over my blood from 6 months ago and said, he didn't think it was necessary my levels for everything were fantastic. I then went on to tell him about being light headed and he took my blood pressure. My bp was always reasonably low, 4 months ago the light headedness started and he told me to increase sodium as my bp had dropped. I have been intaking a ton of sodium, so when he retested now I was shocked to find out it still dropped more my bp is now 85 or 55. As soon as he said what it was, he decided to get my blood tested to figure out whats going on. So now I'm a little freaked. Anyone have lbp what caused it for you, what did they do to fix it?

Secondly, I have been getting an annoying pain right under my right bottom rib. Where my gallbladder is and issues with gallbladders run in my family. If anyone has had gallstones can you please tell me exactly what you felt? I have to go for an ultrasound soon for it and am just curious. My pain is only like 1-2 times a week, its not the worst pain ever but it can take my breath away and it hurts for a minute, faints a bit and then comes back.

Thanks for any feedback guys :)

  3. Thanks guys :) I definitely have several NSV's...

Joined soccer again after not playing for 5 years due to my weight.

I fit into the dress I wore to Grade 8 graduation (when I was fairly thin)

I have done a 5k walk, when I couldn't even walk around the corner without having my feet kill me.

This is a weird one, but I had trouble finding comfortable shoes, I was a size 8 and sometimes had to go to 9 or 10 for the width. No I am a size 7 and shoes fit amazing!

I took anxiety medications before and could not ride public transit alone. Now I am medication free and have no problem taking a bus or a train.

But by far the biggest NSV I have had is being able to walk down the street and hold my head high, not worry what people think about me, and not being paranoid that everyone laughing is laughing at me. As I have shed the weight, I fell in love with myself again (let me be clear it wasn't only because the weight loss, it was because my mentality changed as well). It is the best feeling in the world to build yourself back up to feeling like you have worth. Every time I worked out, I would tell myself it is because I am worth it, and that is how I gained some confidence. I do still have moments where I am insecure, that will always be there, but the difference is astonishing.

As for extra skin - Yes, I do have extra skin on the boobs, stomach, butt and arms. But it isn't that bad, I will probably need surgery purely for cosmetic reasons, but not bothering until after I have kids. It isn't enough skin to cause any discomfort or hygiene issues.

  4. Hey everyone, it has been an interesting and life altering 10 months, but I have finally hit the 100 lbs lost mark. I am over 15 lbs below my original goal, 5 pounds below my revised goal and now officially past my dream come true goal.

Now that I have hit the goal, I do still want to lose a bit more, but my body will decide when enough is enough, and if that was now I would be okay with that.

Keep up all your hard work everyone, there is no better feeling then seeing the results of all your hard work!

  5. I have this bad, I am still not tiny, but I am 95 lbs smaller then I was and my mind still struggles to adjust.

Here are some of my FLS moments...

My very thin cousin was sitting at a table that was really close to the wall, leaving not much room (she had room though lol), she got up and left and my mom told me to take a seat. In my head I was cursing her something fierce for drawing attention to it, because there was no way I would be able to physically squeeze in there. But what do you know, it was tight but I fit.

I found a pair of jeans on clearance that I thought would fit me, they looked about my size, until I looked at the actual size and they were a 16 when I am a 8-10.

There are sooo many times when walking through parking lots or getting out of cars that I think "I won't fit through there" and I have loads of room.

I am just starting to adjust. Today walking on the sidewalk I saw someone jogging and though to myself that I needed to step off the sidewalk so the could fit by me, I realized it was FLS though and stood my ground, and they didn't even come close to me.

Eventually my head will grasp the new me.

  6. Yep, the reasons above are why. I have had to do it a few times. I was at 600 calls a day for a long time after surgery. Then I went like 2 weeks without dropping a pound and was so tired, so upped my calories to 800, next thing I new I was dropping weight again and fast. Did 800 for a couple of months, and weight loss stalled on me (I had upped my activity as well so I new I needed more calories). So thats what I did, I went up to 1000 which I am currently doing, some days its 950-975 but I have started losing again, and have hit my goal. Mind you now that I hit it I want more lol. I figure 1000 calories will last me until I am in maintenance and then I am upping to 1200. But at 1000, if I find I go a few days without losing anything, I shake up the calories and do 800 one day, 1100 the next, then 900, and back to my 1000 and it seems to work.

  7. Hey everyone :)

Today I finally hit my weight loss goal of 140 lbs. I weighed in at 139.2 which means I am down 95 lbs. My bmi is just, and I mean just above a healthy weight, but I wanted a realistic goal. Anyways I am super excited, but I am still planning on losing more, til my body settles and likes where its at. So here comes my vent.

I told my mom and she said "I am scared, you are delusional about how you look, you are thin, I am terrified you are going to take it too far and lose too much" I am just frustrated, I feel like I seriously cannot win, I am either to big or too thin, I mean holy cow my bmi isn't even average yet, how on earth can she think I am going to far?

Anyways I am not letting that stop me, I stick by what I said earlier and I am ignoring everyone else's input on my weight loss, my body will determine when I have lost enough and when its happy.

  8. I had normal blood pressure before surgery, right around 120 over 80 which is optimal, now I have been experiencing weird lightheadedness and have almost passed out a couple times after I stand from sitting or lying down. So I looked online and said low blood pressure could be a cause, went to the pharmacy and did my blood pressure it was 100 over 68 which according to online is too low for me (I am 23). Have a doctors appointment later today but I am curious if anyone else has gone through this, and if so how are you doing now, were you able to get rid of your symptoms, and how?

  9. Uhhh. I wish someone had told me to read this thread a week before surgery, or a month before surgery and not 24 hours before surgery. <_<

As someone who went through all of this stuff, I can assure you that now 90+lbs lighter every little thing I went through with surgery, has been worth it to see myself like this.

  10. Don't be too hard on yourself, you have realized your mistakes and plan on changing them. I have occasionally noticed small slips back in the wrong direction but as long as I catch them and stop them everything is fine. I know how frustrating stalls are, I had a pretty big one but even as my weight was not budging I was fitting smaller clothes. Try not to concentrate on the number, its hard I know, I have struggled bad with that. Just get yourself back on track and the pounds will come off. Just concentrate on getting your Protein and avoiding as many processed carbs as you can. Also if your eating everything right and still not losing, this may not be the advice most people would give but what has worked for me if I see my weight loss slow is up my Water but also my calories by about 200 calories for a few days, it seems to kick start my weight loss again... weird I know.

  11. Hey everyone, I know most of us have been told to do high Protein, low carbs but I have been doing research and I am finding info saying that a post workout recovery drink or meal should have a ratio of 2:1 carbs:protein to preserve and repair muscles.

What do you all use as a recovery drink or meal after an intense workout? I am torn on what the heck I should use as I usually do high protein, low to moderate carbs.

Here is one of the many sources...

    Thanks!

  12. Hi everyone, I have been playing soccer 2 times a week. One is 60 minutes, other is 90 minutes. I have asthma, but its not bad and I would not say my asthma is not contributing to my lack of energy. I am finding that about 30 minutes in I am dead, pretty much can't do much running, can't keep up and feel so tired. Right now I intake about 800 calories, 70-90 g Protein. Could it be that I need to start intaking more calories or carbs or something? I am not in maintenance yet and still have like 20-30lbs to lose.

    Thanks for any help.

  13. My grandmother actually told me the same with losing weight as far as my goal. She said and I quote "just be careful you don't want to lose much more weight" and that is at the point that I was 30-40 pounds above healthy bmi.

I just came to the conclusion that nobody else's opinion on where my weight loss should start or stop truly matters, my body will tell me when its happy.
