  1. Hi Shae. I was sleeved on 10/18 and experiencing the same sensation as you are. I'm still trying to figure out whats causing it b/c it doesn't happen all the time. Can't wait to have more feedback. Thx for starting this string.
  2. Hi Daisy Rose Congrats! I'm just 9 days post opt and what helped me was reading this forum, talking to others, and the pre-op diet. I do want to tell you, and this my opinion only, that although I knew what to expect, I was unrealistic in my expectations. I can tell you though that I can watch the food Network all day long and nothing phases me. That's amazing.
  3. I was sleeved on 10/18 and have had the same difficulty and still do but it gets better every day. What's helped me is hugging a pillow to my stomach, giving support. A binder might help to.
  4. Hi you guys. I had my sleeve by 9am on 10/18 and after surgery had the thought of this is the most ridiculous thing I've ever done but I'm beyond that now. Having difficulty getting everything in but doing better. I have sharp pains that make it difficult to walk and move. I'm also getting a weird strong hunger pain in my stomach and trying to decide if that's its way of saying - hey kc -ur full. Glad to hear everyone is doing well.
  5. Hi there. What I've done is take the total servings and divide by the number of shakes per day. Pure Protein, there are 24 servings so that would last you 8 days and give you 69g protein. nectar, there are 36 servings so that would last you 12 days and give you 69g protein.
  6. WOOT WOOT!! I'm scheduled for 10/18
  7. Hi everyone. I just got approved Wednesday and will have a surgery date on 9/13. So, while I've been waiting on things, I've decided to start a mini pre-op diet of 2 Protein shakes and a meal per day (5days a week). While I've been dropping 1 to 1 1/2lb per day, I've been feeling really fuzzy by mid afternoon along with headaches. While I mostly understand why this is happening right now, I can't continue to feel like this forever. Will this continue to happen after surgery? While I'm feeling upbeat about everything, I'm really worried about this. Of course, I will bring this up with my dr on Tuesday but I wanted to get others feedback. I appreciate any insight or optimism about this.
  8. I told my parents and now my mom has told the world. The other thing is my mom didn't listen when I told her which procedure b/c she's told everyone I was doing the bypass, which freaked people out. Luckily, I've had an opportunity to talk to them about it and show them I've done my research. Now, my mom is wanting to help me out. Gotta love 'em.
  9. Joining the ranks. October surgery with Dr. Nick.
  10. Hi y'all. I just found out I was approved today so surgery will be sometime in October. Super excited and ready.
  11. Hi everyone. So I'm still in the pre-op stage hoping to have surgery in October so I'm looking at different Protein drinks. My health conscientious bf is highly recommending these Boathouse drinks that have veg/fruits and provide great nutrients. The protein is a good number but the all natural sugar is between 25 & 30gr. I'm going to contact my NUT but wanted to get y'alls opinions on this.
  12. Hi everyone. I found this on an older thread http://www.empireblue.com/medicalpolicies/policies/mp_pw_a053317.htm BMI >40 or >35 with co-morbidities Psych eval Info about failed diet attemps
  13. Hi everyone. Well, I was just cleared today through the psych and they said they would have the report to Dr. Nick by Wednesday. Dr. Nick's office said it usually takes about 15 days to get a reply from Empire. How was your experience? I've also started worrying about not being approved. My BMI is 47 with high cholesterol, pre-diabetes, high bp, and some joint pain with a little reflux. Also, I read that as of 9/1, BCBS was going to begin requiring a $5k deductible be met. Has anyone had to deal with this yet? I figured since our insurance begins on 1/1 each year, this wouldn't affect me until next year. I'm looking for anybody who could help put my mind at ease and keep the positive.
  14. So my wonderful insurance requires dietitian, psych and sleep study so the only thing left is my psych eval, which is Monday am. I go to therapy already so I'm not nervous. Just ready to get insurance approval and my surgery date. Still have some questions for the dr but I'm ready. Believe it or not, I'm more positive about things lately and excited and happy and not worrying. Wow, this feels pretty good. Found out I'm getting another great opportunity at work and may be able to travel to India next year! WooHoo! Take care!
  15. Thanks everyone for the help and support. I feel better knowing that I've read about everything that's been mentioned.
  16. Hi there. So since telling my parents, who decided to share with the rest of the family, my aunt has sent me an email persuading me not to have the surgery and why. I've searched this site and YouTube and haven't found any complication posts and have been looking for many weeks. All I hear is good with a little trouble. Please share any complications stories that you've had so I'm making a knowledgeable decision.
  17. Congrats on the date! I've been wondering if there are others here in Dallas. I've attended Dr. Nick's seminar last month and have a few pre-cert items, which will be accomplished next week. I hope to have a surgery date soon. Very excited.
  18. There will be a day when parents aren't always accepting and supportive. I finally told my parents about the VSG and the possibilities last week. They reacted in different ways. One reaction - Research and make sure you know what you're getting into. Well duh! Another reaction was that my mom sent an email on how to cheaply lose weight the "old fashion" way Another was unexpected - an email from my aunt telling me about all these people who she knows has died or major complications. The upside is that I've been able to see that my boyfriend is there for me and will be with me along the way, as he's always said he would.
  19. I'm in the Dallas area so if you need 16 or 18, let me know what you are looking for. I have shirts, jeans, shorts etc.
  20. Hi I'm in Dallas and I have several items in 16 & 18. Let me know if you're interested and what you may be looking for.
