Good morning! I am so sorry about the weight gain. All I can tell you is what I do, what I've done from the beginning. For me it is a total lifestyle change, as natural to me as breathing. I call this my 'dashboard'.
    1) I weigh EVERY day. I KNOW how quickly I could gain eight or ten pounds, and that would be overwhelming to me. If I'm up a pound or two, I just make a change or two and it's gone in several days.
    2) I weigh and/or measure my food when I am at home (eye ball it carefully when out)
    3) I log my food on my fitness pal. Before discovering MFP, I used fitday.com and at the VERY beginning, I have a spiral notebook and wrote it down.
    4) I attend support groups
My comfort zone is 142 - 145, I weigh first thing in the morning, out of bed, go to the bathroom and on the scale. A pound or two is manageable, but for me, I cannot go by how my jeans fit, by that time I'd be up ten pounds and it would take me a few months to get that off, I'm sure of it. I must track my calorie, there is a fine line for me between maintaining, gaining and losing. I've been doing this for over 2.5 years, so I've got the hang of it, but I can never be complacent. Like I said, this is my new normal. This is why I call what I do, my dashboard, if a 'light' comes on, and to me, being up a couple of pounds, or my calories being above what I need.....those are my lights. I just change things up a little, meaning, I lower my calories by 100 -150 and that takes care of it.
Make sense? My advice is, find something that works for you, something you can do forever, there is no end date, we've made a lifetime commitment.....and make it part of your life. Good luck, you can do this.

Don't beat yourself up over this. It happens. I start my pre-op diet the 5th and to be honest, I know that I am going to have some issues. What I am telling myself is that hunger is all in the mind and I can control my mind. The other thing I do is rely on my faith. I won't go all religious on you, but my faith is what gets me through everything.
As far as changing your thought patterns, if you can, take a walk outside and enjoy nature. If you can, drink Water if that's allowed during the time your hungry. (not sure how your pre-op diet goes...sorry).
Hope this helps some. I know how hard it is, but if I can do it, anyone can!

Ready for the new Lay-Lay reacted to MinaT in Major Migraine! What Can I Take?
I suffer Migraines and even have received occipital nerve blocks and botox in my head and neck for them, but I still get them. I am allergic to Imitrex and other medications and the only medicine that helps me is Excederin Migraine.
If mine get bad, I take a warm shower and then get into a cold dark room and throw a cold pack on my neck and a cool washcloth across my eyes, normally with a fan on and I chill my head down. The warm shower usually makes it so my head cools off faster. I often use Vicks Vaporub across my forehead (expect to wash your pillow case). It's a few of the things that has helped me. I have suffered from these since the age of 5. I hope it goes away soon.

Lay-Lay, I'm only allowed Tylenol as well. I've had two Migraines since surgery, on the same day. One was the silent, behind the eyes type, and the other was a full-fledged Migraine. I took my tylenol, laid down with a cool cloth and killed every noise maker in the house. Both went away fairly quickly and I figured out later that I ate something with MSG in it, which is a trigger for me.
One migraine since surgery is pretty good, IMO. I used to have about 1 a month, so 1 in 9 months is awesome! Especially considering that I figured out the trigger immediately.

hello all!!! My surgery date is June 4th!! I am excited and very nervous. I have to loose 10 pounds before surgery or he said he will cancel. i am nervous I won't be able to do it and keep it off. I am good for loosing 10-15 pounds and I am great for gaining it all back plus another 5. He didn't give me a pre op diet but I think I should just do the post op diet. My only other problem with the post op diet is that I have a sales conference with my job for the first week in May and i don't want anyone to know and I don't want to be starving around all these people. Then mother's day weekend i am going out of town with my family who are so unsupportive. i think I just need words of encouragement. my hubby gives them to me, but I just don't know.

Congratulations on taking control of your life. I am 2 years post surgery and down from a size 22 to an 8, seriously an 8. I never thought that was possible. My husband wasn't in complete agreement on my surgery either, I think more scared. Now he knows I am healthy and is very happy for me. Not to mention, some people think he had a new younger hot wife. For me, I drink at least one can of Pure Protein in frosty chocolate a day. Sometimes it's hard to find, but is the best tasting product I found. I think it only has 125 calories, but 30 grams of protein or so. One day at a time, you can do it. Trust me, once I was past the age of 50, I thought it was all over for me. If I did it, anyone can!

I can't wait to wear clothes that don't have an X in the size. I can't wait for my feet to not kill me when I wear heels all day. I can't wait to no longer have deep marks in my back from bra straps. I can't wait to enjoy having my picture taken again. I can't wait to not feel anxious, hot and sweaty in social situations. Oh my, the list could go on and on.

I can't wait to participate in picture taking. I avoid the camera like the plague because when I see the pictures, I am mortified. I also can't wait to wear white and not feel/look like the Michelin Man. I mostly can't wait to wake up everyday and my first thought not be about how fat I am and feeling hopeless about changing it.
