  1. Hello everyone. I will be celebrating my one year anniversary on June 4th. So far I have lost 84 pounds. The problem is within these past 5 months, I have gained 7 pounds. I keep saying I do not know what wrong with me, but I do know. I have fallen off my new lifestyle wagon and started back doing my old habits. I stopped going to my doctor's appointment, I am back to eating starch and coffee. I tried to make excuses but the reality of it all I have gotten lazy again. My family initially started being supportive and when I let my guard down and let my husband bring the wrong food in the house. I need help with a plan to get back on track.

  2. Hello, tomorrow 9/4, I will be 3 monthst post op. I am loosing alot of hair. I am the only one that notice because my hair is soooo thick. But my husband complained about all the hair in the bathroom. At first it was ok because, it is so thick, I am not sweating as much but now it is getting on my nerves!!!!! I asked my doc, he told me to increase my Protein intake. I am forcing myself to eat. I still would rather drink my protein smoothies. Is there anything else that I can do to help with this Hair loss?

    any advice is greatly appreciated!!!

    thanks

  3. Well it is officially 2 weeks since surgery. I am doing good. Had a problem with ripping my mucsle-OUCH but other than that its been good. I have no regrets. I don't get very hungry. My stomach growls and I know I need to eat. I get really tired. Like today, came home from work and said I was going to take a nap. I slept from 3:30 to 7PM!!!!!!! Dang!!!! B12 is not working....does anyone have any other suggestions on how to get some energy? My scale said 265. So that means that I have lost 18 pounds since my surgery. I am not going to focus on this damn scale so much. I have read so many posts where people are obsessed with the scale. I do not want to be obsessed with the scale. But I think I already am, LOL! I meet with the doctor on Thursday for 2 week check up.I will get my true weight then. Hopefully I will get approved of stage 2 purreed. Don't think I will like that very much. Does anyone have any good pureed recipes????

Well, I enjoy reading everyone posts, They have helped me alot!!!

Good luck to everyon on their journey!!!!!

  4. Called my doc. I have to add Water or juice to my Protein shakes not milk. Ugggh. It is so obvious that all surgeons have different ways to I am on clear liquids for 2 weeks then pureed food. My doc sent an email reminder to me to make sure I stay on clear liquids and I follow everything he says in the book he provided. That book is a HuGE 3 ring binder. lol. Sleeve Bible is what I called it.

anyway thanks for all of your post

I appreciate the supprt on this site.

  5. I just got up to use the restroom and getting back in bed ....I felt something rip on my upper right side. Right by my top incision. The pain was so bad I had to get up and walk around. I felt a little better until I tried to inhale and the now I have sharp pains that comes and goes. Has anyone had this before? I don't want to wake up my husband he just got off work and he is super tired. Everytime I call my doc about something he says that it is unrelated to him and I should call my PCP. Don't know what I should do

  6. I am 4 days post op. feeling good. Some pains. And stiffness but other than that I'm ok.

I am on Clear Liquids until my 2 week check up. This morning I was hungrier than these usual 4 days and make my Protein Shake with silk soy milk instead of Water. I wasn't in pain but I was full drinking 8 oz instead of the 16 I made. That was at 9:30 am. I sipped on water and power ads zero until 4:38. I don't want to call my doc because he went off on me for using a straw!!!!

In your first stage how did you make your Protein Shakes? ??

  9. ok, so I joined this site last year, but I have posted the most within the past 3 days! lol Anyway, There are things that I am thinking about, and I just feel that I am not prepared. I am a sales rep and 70% od my job is traveling. Unfortunately I can only afford to take a week off. I go back to work June 12, and my boss's boss will be in town. I have not told anyone about the surgery, too much negativity, so I am freaking out!!! I am in Memphis and they (management) to Memphis in the summer for our BBQ. I will be on liquids. I don't know what to do. I told him that I will be on a liquid diet. He said that's not possible and live in Memphis. Uggh. I will have to bring my hubby as a distraction. Also, I when did everyone start back driving? I have store visits throughout Memphis and North MS. I don't want to start driving and have something bad happen to my stitches or poor circulation. Thats a problem I have now. Cant type anymore. Stitches in my finger really hurts.

  10. Ok, I asked a questtion about Migraines over the weekend because I woke up once again with a blinding Migraine. I sent an email to my WLS surgery doc, he said for me to call my PCP, she said take my excedrin, but I could not because of surgery. So my eyes started twitching and blurred and then I started throwing up. That was Sunday morning. When there was nothing left in my system to puke out, I started with the dry heaving!!! So now, I need to go to the ER. In the er, they give me something for nausea and my headache and for some reason benedryl. That was around 12:30 pm memorial day. I woke up still in the ER around 2, head still hurting and now I need to pee. So I made it out of bed, when to the restroom (down the hall), staggering back to my room, I shut my finger in the big ER room door!!!! WTF!!!!!! Now I need stitches in my finger. And the they had to give me a tetanus shot!! My arm is sooo sore (from the tetanus shot), my finger is swollen with stitches and my head still hurts. I finally woke up this afternoon, didn't get a change to call the doc office to see if everything is still ok with the surgery. Does anyone know if I can still have the surgery after getting the tetanus shot? And they gave me morphine for my headache and finger pain. Im scared my surgery will be postponed!!!!:unsure:

  11. hello all!!! My surgery date is June 4th!! I am excited and very nervous. I have to loose 10 pounds before surgery or he said he will cancel. i am nervous I won't be able to do it and keep it off. I am good for loosing 10-15 pounds and I am great for gaining it all back plus another 5. He didn't give me a pre op diet but I think I should just do the post op diet. My only other problem with the post op diet is that I have a sales conference with my job for the first week in May and i don't want anyone to know and I don't want to be starving around all these people. Then mother's day weekend i am going out of town with my family who are so unsupportive. i think I just need words of encouragement. my hubby gives them to me, but I just don't know.

  12. I had my 4 hour consultation with my doc and his assistant. I was given a binder (I call it my sleeve bible). It explains the surgery, pre op and post op diet. Foods to avoid, a list of food to get for pre op and post op. Suggestions of Protein Shakes, Vitamins, etc. It is very very helpful. I feel so much better now, that binder will be my saving grace along with this site.

So at the end of the 4 hours, I was told that I need to loose a minimum of 10 pounds or he will cancel the surgery. I think I will just start on my post op diet now, to get my mind and body ready. I need to get in a routine now. I am positive about this weight loss, my surgery will not be cancelled over something that is in MY CONTROL. I am taking control of my body and especially the food that I put in it.

Ok, so my date is June 4th. It is tentative because of the assistant surgeon that has to be there. She is out of the office for a week. If her schedule is free then that will be my date, if not I will have a new date. I started this journey in July of last year. I have went through negative family members, semi-supportive husband, PCP refusing to sign my letter, my insurance saying I need a 6 month diet, then changing it mind. Now I am listening to noone but myself. I know that I desperately need this, I am not going to keep saying that my weight is hereditary. I am not going to call it baby weight (my daughter is 9 going on 16!!!). I am not going to plan work, school and stress. Im like the biggest loser saying NO MORE EXCUSES!!!!!

So wish me luck on my new journey.

  13. It was fine. Although, I heard the anesthesiologist say that I stopped breathing during the procedure. When I came to and asked about that, they told me that is common with obese people. I actually woke up with a headache and had one for the next 3 days for some reason. I go in tommorrow to met the doc. I will have a surgery date when I get done. I am really excited.
