  1. I'm finally getting sleeved tomorrow at 10:00, which means I have to be at the hospital at 9:15. Since I live in a neighboring state, we will leave at 3 am to drive there. So, driving 250 miles with nothing to drink since it's after midnight. Yikes! My main concern right now is trying to drink this Magnesium Citrate. It took almost an hour to drink the first bottle- thankfully, I did not vomit. But I have one more bottle to drink in another hour. Anyway, I'm babbling right now because I'm nervous, hehe. Just wanted to say thanks for everyone's advice and support and see you guys on the other side of the loser's bench!biggrin.gif

  2. I've been wondering if my gallbladder is acting up. For the past few weeks I've been feeling a pain (not severe) behind my right breast, a little toward the center of my chest. It only lasts a few seconds, but will usually happen several times a day- more than that today. Since I am having VSG the day after tomorrow, I'm curious if the dr would go ahead and take it out if it looks bad. But since I am self-pay (and have already paid) I don't know if he would take it out for "free" or would bill me later for it... Maybe I'm just nervous and thinking too hard, lol.

  3. Oh my goodness... God bless you because I don't think I could live without splenda!! Good luck to you too!

Yes, my doc said the worst part of the surgery is how tired I will feel the first two weeks. Also, I get headaches from artificial sweeteners so I am going to stay away from them, restricting myself even further! Good luck ravenjeh!

  4. I'm a fellow 9/27 sleever too biggrin.gif. My dr. has me on strictly clear liquids for the first week post op, Tinacasa. I was a little surprised too, since I hear of a lot of sleevers drinking Protein Shakes the next day. I've been a little worried about not having any Protein for a week. I'm prepared to not have any energy. As far as the surgery length, I believe my dr. said 1 to 1 1/2 hours.

My only pre-op diet is clear liquids the day before surgery (tomorrow!). It's almost 11 pm and my husband is stopping by the store on the way home from work for one last treat, hehe.

  5. Wow, I know that feels great! I had to take a CPR class last week, and when I knelt over the mannequin, I was not able to hold all my weight up while pinching the nose at the same time- I never could get the mannequin to "breathe". My thighs were to big to properly kneel and my gut was hanging down in the way. Very uncomfortable. I can't wait to be where you are!

  6. Well, I just went to the bank and then mailed off my payment for surgery! I decided that if I put this off now, I will probably never end it having the surgery. I think at this point with getting a new foster child (as early next week!), my life isn't going to be slowing down anytime soon. This is a completely new begininng for me and my husband. I might as well start off trying to get healthy so that I can take care of our new family. Wow, that feels so weird to say: "family". Lol, now, I just have to get his room together before I have my surgery. Thank goodness my husband is taking a week off work so he can take of James while I am recovering. Thanks to you all for your advice! You have really helped me with my decision!

  7. In the past couple of weeks while planning for my surgery, my life has gone through a complete 180 with plenty of ups and downs. I'm saving up and pinching pennies and in 2 weeks, our Central A/C has died, a wisdom tooth popped up and had to get extracted, my car has had issues, my husband's car is having issues while his truck has an unrepairable flat tire. $$$$$$- that about sums it up. Now, in the past 3 days, my mom (we are very close to each other and even live next door) has gotten emergency custody of my niece and nephew because my sister and her husband are on drugs and are abusive. We just spent 6 hours in court, blink.gif On top of that, my mom also has a foster child through a different agency. With the 2 grandchildren living with her, the foster son will not be allowed to live in the same home (crazy rules). So, to keep him from having to pick up and move somewhere else, my husband and I have decided to pursue foster care just so he can live with us. We do not have any children. Overnight, we will become "parents". Scary! We love him very much, but I have to admit this is all overwhelming!

It is less than 2 weeks until my surgery... Are these signs that I need to postpone my surgery? I kinda feel like maybe I need to go ahead and get started being healthy right now since my life is about to change in a big way. But on the other side, am I going to be able to eat right if I am going to be having to cook for a child? My husband and I eat healthy except when we go out to eat, but now we will have the dreaded Snacks in the house.... Ughhh, I'm so confused!!

  8. Glad to hear you are doing so great! I hope to be in your shoes after 5 weeks too :) Congrats!

So today I am 5 weeks out. I have lost 42 lbs. Had a week stall when TOM came to visit but all is well now.

Some of the NSV's I have encountered:

Going from a size 18 to a size 12 pants and XXL shirts to L. All of my clothes are way too big now except for the ones I held on to and thank goodness I did.

Not getting out of breath to do anything.... and I do mean anything. :D

My boyfriend putting his arms around my waist and being able to grab his elbows

with his hands...and commenting on it.

Ex-boyfriends seeing me and telling me how great I look. :P

I have a ton but I have saved the best for last........

And sex is so worth it now!!!!

Ok, ok. I know TMI .... but it is so true.lol

I hope everyone else is doing great as well!

  9. I actually am in MS too! I am in north ms, near Memphis. I am going back to dr Lavin bc he did my other surgeries. I actually was thinking about dr Borland, before decided to go back to my dr. Have you had the surgery yet?

I'm in Central MS, in florence, just south of Jackson. I'm having the surgery on 9/27, but I have already meet with Dr. Borland for the consultation and I love him. I've heard great things about Dr. Lavin too :)

Seems to be a lot of us "Deep Southerners" coming out of the wood works, lol. Everyone brace yourselves for lots of rain this weekend!
