I have had several ovarian cysts rupture over the last several years, but usually those come with horrible cramping and pain. I haven't really had any unusual pain with this. I've never missed any periods and am always right on schedule. Flow seems to be normal now. I guess I was just overreacting this morning from the sight of so much blood. Thanks for the input guys!

TMI warning...
I am about 5 weeks post op. I just started my second post op period yesterday. I normally have a pretty heavy period, especially on day 2 of my cycle . But I woke up this morning to having soaked through my pajamas. I went to the bathroom and pulled down my underwear and blood gushed out of my panties. It was like a bowl of blood poured out onto the floor. It really scared me. I was only asleep for 7 hours; it looked like I had this pad on for 2 days.
I know our hormones are out of whack after surgery, but is this normal? I should note that I haven't felt well the past 3 days. Terrible headaches, not very hungry and tired (I took a 3 hour nap yesterday). Should I be concerned about anything? Anemia? I take a Multi-Vitamin with Iron and a Calcium tablet daily.

No time at all. I think his office is used to people wanting the surgery asap. If I could have, they would have done my surgery the next week after my consultation. But I was still saving up so I need another month. He is great and my surgery went perfectly.

Yeah, I seem to have the same "iron gut" that I have always had. I'm only one month out and never got sick. In fact, I haven't thrown up in almost a decade, lol. Anyway, I'm eating pretty normal foods, just very smalls bites and chewing the dickens out of it

I did not do a pre-op diet, as my doctor did not require it. He never mentioned the shrinking of the liver as something I needed to do. I went through surgery very smoothly and never had a problem. My BMI was 40. It was really cool to watch the dvd of my surgery as they put in the little tool to move the liver out of the way.

It does get better, I promise. Get tons of rest for the next week or so. Sometimes when I was starting to feel like my old self, I would get up and do stuff and then be weak, wobbly and half dead the rest of the day and the next day. Just take it easy and you will feel so much better once you start eating mushies.

Wow, that is a nightmare!!! Hope you are finally on the right path for recovery! Can I ask how far out you developed your leak?
Sending prayers your way!

Hey Scentsy, I had my surgery just a bit south of you in New Iberia, La. I was so excited too, and even right before surgery, I was more excited than nervous. I was also a self pay, as my husband's insurance excluded WLS. How is the Scentsy business going? I make and sell my own candles as a business, too. Just started my business last year and the economy is making it very hard, lol. Anyway, welcome to the group!!

I was intubated during surgery, but when I woke up my throat didn't hurt at all. For a few days afterwards it was a little scratchy, but nothing worse than normal seasonal allergies. HTH

Good article- thanks for posting!
It happens, BELIEVE ME. But the scale will move again. Just keep up with your Dr.'s plan. Also here is a helpful article that really helps explain stalls.

I know exactly what you mean. I'm only 12 days out and I stopped losing 3 days ago and then today, I GAINED a pound... TOM is over 2 weeks away, how did this happen? Grrrrrrrrrr...

I'm 10 days post op and on full liquids. Yesterday morning, I stood up too fast and nearly passed out. I had black spots in my vision and was very weak. The lethargy lasted all day. Now this morning, the same thing just happened. Vision got dark with a headache. What causes this? Low blood sugar? Low blood pressure?
-
I was supposed to start full liquids on day 8. Day 7, I went ahead and had some Campbell's Tomato Soup. It was sooooo good. But, I was freaking out that I probably had developed a leak because of it, lol. I think you'll be ok with only a teaspoon or so of apple sauce. I know what you mean about feeling weak. Today I almost fainted and spent the rest of the day listless and dizzy. I drank another Protein Shake and started feeling a little better. Hope tomorrow is better for you!
I am one week post op today. How would I really know if something is wrong with my sleeve such as leakage. I have been on nothing but liquids. Today I woke up and felt so weak i had to have something. I enjoyed a teaspoon and a half off apple sauce. WOW did I feel better. My doctor's plan doesn't have me on applesauce for at least another week or two. Ugh....am I doing this right? Does my body know better?
-
I was just sleeved last week, and I can tell you that just about everytime I take a sip, I can feel a air bubble fizz up to my throat as the liquid goes down. Almost like it's trying to make room for the incoming liquid. I can't see how a bubble would just stay there and not try to escape. I don't think you have anything to worry about

Oh, how exciting! I love Terry Goodkind too!! I was going to enter in those contests, but just never got around to it.

Yep, last night I dreamed that I was back to my old ways of just cheating a little on my diet. I went to Subway and got a footlong and then polished it off with chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Blizzard from Dairy Queen. I was telling myself that cheating one meal wouldn't kill me and then I remembered- I'm supposed to be on Clear Liquids only! I started freaking out that I was going to have a leak and then I woke up... with horrible reflux, too. My mind is trying to sabotage me, lol
-
Are you still on Clear Liquids only? If so, that is probably why you are still hungry all the time. I'm 4 days post-op and I'm staving or having gas/ burp issues all the times. Clear broth isn't filling unfortunately. I can't wait until I can have a Protein shake! (Strange to say, lol)
Gee wiz - you're lucky! Me, I keep getting what feels like "hungry" ... all day! It's quite a bummer!
-
Oh, you poor thing! You must be so extremely thirsty! I hope they let you have something soon. Definitely praying for you. Oh, and don't feel bad about the gas-x strips- they didn't do a thing for me.
I agree. The gas pain is the worst! I am not allowed gas x strips. I still am not allowed to sip anything! I think I am staying a second night in the hospital.
-
I was just sleeved the day after you, Stellasmommy, and the Gas-x strips didn't do anything for me. My dr. told me to lay off the Lortab and take liquid tylenol if I could, because the strong pain killers kinda make your bowels stop working. He said once all of your plumbing is working properly, you should be able to "pass" it . So far that has helped, but still have some pain/pressure left. Hope you get better!
-
Well, I was nauseous for the first day, butnow this gas pain is by far worse. I've been eating gas x strips and had the heating to no avail. The dr said to try going without my Lortab to get my bowels working again so the gas can "get out" that way (sorry tmi!). So far that hasn't worked either. Now I'm headed home- only 4.5 hours away!
-
How are yesterday's sleevers doing? My surgery went well. I've had a lot of nausea, but thankfully have not vomited. Unfortunately, I have had the hiccups twice- ouch! I was in a lot of pain yesterday, but I realized that my pain this morning is hunger. The hubby is heating up some broth right now. Hope everyone is doing well

Thanks, guys! And good luck to you too, Zoe!! I just got checked in here and now waiting to be take back! Not too nervous, but starving and really thirsty! Lol
Consultation is tomorrow!!!

I told you they were fast! You will love Dr. Borland. Oh, and you know he has you stay in a local hotel for 2 days after so that he can make "housecalls" and check up on you. I highly recommend Candlewood Suites. Anyway, Congrats on your future! Let me know if you have any questions
