    EXCITED AND THANKFUL!!

Yep, another 27th sleever right here I'm so ready for next Tuesday!!
  2. In the past couple of weeks while planning for my surgery, my life has gone through a complete 180 with plenty of ups and downs. I'm saving up and pinching pennies and in 2 weeks, our Central A/C has died, a wisdom tooth popped up and had to get extracted, my car has had issues, my husband's car is having issues while his truck has an unrepairable flat tire. $$$$$$- that about sums it up. Now, in the past 3 days, my mom (we are very close to each other and even live next door) has gotten emergency custody of my niece and nephew because my sister and her husband are on drugs and are abusive. We just spent 6 hours in court, On top of that, my mom also has a foster child through a different agency. With the 2 grandchildren living with her, the foster son will not be allowed to live in the same home (crazy rules). So, to keep him from having to pick up and move somewhere else, my husband and I have decided to pursue foster care just so he can live with us. We do not have any children. Overnight, we will become "parents". Scary! We love him very much, but I have to admit this is all overwhelming! It is less than 2 weeks until my surgery... Are these signs that I need to postpone my surgery? I kinda feel like maybe I need to go ahead and get started being healthy right now since my life is about to change in a big way. But on the other side, am I going to be able to eat right if I am going to be having to cook for a child? My husband and I eat healthy except when we go out to eat, but now we will have the dreaded snacks in the house.... Ughhh, I'm so confused!!

    Should I postpone surgery??

Well, I just went to the bank and then mailed off my payment for surgery! I decided that if I put this off now, I will probably never end it having the surgery. I think at this point with getting a new foster child (as early next week!), my life isn't going to be slowing down anytime soon. This is a completely new begininng for me and my husband. I might as well start off trying to get healthy so that I can take care of our new family. Wow, that feels so weird to say: "family". Lol, now, I just have to get his room together before I have my surgery. Thank goodness my husband is taking a week off work so he can take of James while I am recovering. Thanks to you all for your advice! You have really helped me with my decision!

  7. Yeah, I thought that was only applicable for bypass. My surgeon never mentioned it... I hope that's not the case because I take ibuprofen on almost a daily basis Btw, we have the same surgery date!

    1 more day....

Good luck, and congrats on your new journey! Praying that everything goes well!
  12. I'm in Central MS, in florence, just south of Jackson. I'm having the surgery on 9/27, but I have already meet with Dr. Borland for the consultation and I love him. I've heard great things about Dr. Lavin too Seems to be a lot of us "Deep Southerners" coming out of the wood works, lol. Everyone brace yourselves for lots of rain this weekend!
  13. Welcome! Hey, I am 29 too, and my surgeon is not too far from you, in New Iberia, Louisiana (Dr. Thomas Borland). I'm nervous about the weather too- I live in Mississippi. Hopefully, only rain will be a problem and hospitals have plenty of generators. Praying that everything will go just fine for you
  14. I, too, have an exclusion for WLS. There is no way to fight that through your carrier, since it is excluded by your employer. I am paying $9800 by Dr. Thomas Borland in Louisiana. That does not include the few pre-op tests that he requires, but insurance should cover those tests.

    NEW ROSTER!!

Good luck to all the Sept. 1 and 2 sleeve babies!!!
  16. My doctor is a little more lenient: 1 week clear liquids 1 week full liquids 1 week soft foods then gradually add more solid foods

    Wisdom Tooth? Now?????

Yeah, I guess you're right. It would be my luck to drive the 250 miles to my surgeon just to be turned away due to an infected tooth! Hopefully, it won't cost too much. The bad thing is, our A/C died today too. And it was only 101 degrees down here today, and still 90 degrees in our house tonight . Ughhh, when it rains, it pours! Guess I will have to push my surgery back a couple of weeks due to this week's luck.

    September Sleevers

I got my surgery date yesterday! September 27th for me I was hoping for a week earlier, but won't have the money saved before then. That's ok, though, hehe.
  20. Hi, I'm meeting with my surgeon tomorrow too. My insurance excludes WLS, so I don't have to jump through hoops with supervised diets and a ton of testing, but I have had to come up with $10k . Hope we both get good news tomorrow! Good luck!
  21. Yay, how exciting! I'm expecting to be sleeved on the 20th or 21st, but won't know for sure until tomorrow when I go see my surgeon. Congrats!

This morning I've lost 150 LBS!!!

WOW, congrats! What an awesome gift from your scale today!
  23. I'm a piano teacher. I teach lessons from my home and only have 6 students, which equals about 3 hours a week. Not a physical job, though it can be a mentally trying job, lol. I should be ok to go back a week post-op, right?

    GOING INSANE, PLEASE HELP!!!!

I have fun just going to the mall and looking at all the cute clothes that I will hopefully be able to wear. In fact, just today my mom and I waddled into Victoria's Secret and used a couple of free panty coupons that we got in the mail. I felt a little awkward walking around in there with it being blatantly obvious that I could not fit anything they sell, but I picked up a size Large and a size Medium panty. I came home and hung the large one on a hanger by my bathroom mirror so that I can look at it everyday for inspiration, lol. While it wasn't a distraction from my obsessive vsg thoughts, it was really exciting and fun
  25. Thanks, Tiff! That makes me feel better
