What Are You Most Proud of?

Great post, Alex. I am most proud of being able to "step back from the abyss", come "home" here to BP, and be strong enough to "move on" to continue my WLS journey which was so abruptly halted by John's suicide. It took me four years of therapy, but I did it-- but not without the support of some new friends on BP. My WLS may not have been totally joyful, but it is now 100% rewarding. Prayers going up for all of us, Friends.
  2. Words can do more damage than physical violence because they scar the soul not just the skin.I wish people would remember that.:(

My younger sister and I, for instance, both wls patients with same gene pool......yet reaction to stuff is way different. She is hyper-sensitive to what folks say. Tender hearted and gets hurt all the time. She says I'm a callous arse...lol. I get it, though, I truly do. We are all hard-wired different and then we receive different programing, too, along the way.

An internet board can make it a tough to decipher poster's intent or true meaning sometimes. I've read posts before and been, "Wut ?" then went back again and read a totally different meaning.....and walked away not knowing which was the intended one. So much easier to understand in person....can read the body language and all, too.

One big factor here on BP, though, is that most of us let our guard down and relax a bit with the belief we are among like-minded friends.....fellow patients who share our struggles. Then it makes it much more harsh when one of those fellow pards throws a jab or two at us.....unexpected.....more painful when it comes from someone you thought would be an ally.

Exactly!! Hurtful, snarky comments from someone who is thought to be, if not a friend, at least some one with some empathy cuts deep and not soon, if ever forgotten. No one know how "fragile" a poster is when asking a question that has been asked 200 times before. My wish is for a veteran to either answer the question with a wee bit of empathy , and leave the wise cracks for the Veteran's forum, and just not answer at all.

What made you get a tat?

I was tatted for the first time to Celebrate my 60th b'day. It is an "flowering" plant with two pink blossoms to represent my two daughters , one pink bud for my granddaughter and three blue buds for my grandsons. On the passing of my international champion standard poodle, "Bob" I got my second. It is a lotus blossom with his face coming out of the middle of it. Both tats are on my inner ankles.( ouch! ) Why on the inner ankles? So I can enjoy looking at them. They are for ME first. I enjoy them both

@kmorri: ---and here all of this time I thought we were friends. ;( Have you been talking to my daughters??? Prayers going up--for me! I think I'm going to need all I can get.

    Stomach stretching

Not in my world. It's not allowed on my plan with the sleeve or rny. I believe your world to be different than what is considered standard. I am now 5yrs out and in "my world" any Pasta, rice or bread brings on dumping syndrome. 17% of sleevers experience dumping. I'm just one of those lucky ones. Standard is whatever is normal for you. Everyone's journey is indeed their own.

    Eating

Your doctor "gave you something to help you eat"? What is it? I think that if you are this unhappy and in pain, you should call and talk to the "on call" doctor. I think you'll feel better just talking him/her. --especially since they are aware of your problem enough to "give you something to help you eat". I sincerely think you should call and get some advice from them. Feel better, friend. Post and let us know what you find out. Prayers going up.
  7. When it's hot outside I make the following: I scoop Protein powder or one container of Greek yogurt I cup of frozen tropical fruit 10-12oz of calorie free liquid 4 ice cubes. Blend the jeepers out of it and enjoy a summertime smoothie--approx. 180cal and 15-24+gr of protein. Yummy and so cooling. Good luck and keep cool. Prayers going up.

    I need support!

Welcome, Friend. Whatever you come up against, you will always find someone here who has had a similar experience and can share that experience with you. There will ALWAYS be someone here with an opinion! That , I can guarantee you! WLS can be a struggle, but it can also be the most joyous journey of your life. It will mostly be up to you which personal experience you will have. Learn to work with your new body--not against it and you will do splendidly. You can do this! You've already come almost to the "starting gate". Prayers going up for you .

Nay, Woman. Anyone else would have sung, "My Eyes Adore You." Not to hijack this topic, I'll send you a list in a private message. @@Daisee68, I'm guessing your "like" means you'd also like the list, so I'll send it to you, too. Anyone else interested, just let me know. You are magnificent. You got me weepy with joy for you. @@Valentina -- Planning a 'Rosie Ruiz' to cheat the zipline? You of all people! I am shocked and incredulous. Did I mentioned that I'm terrified of heights???? Maybe we can find a zip line that is close to the ground??? Here I thought all of these years that my daughters loved me...
  10. Just finished grooming my Chinese Crested--15min. and my back is screaming. Hopefully after my skin surgery I will be able to go back to grooming/showing and judging Standard Poodles--6hrs for each groom. I miss it?

    Been Givin the run around

Talking , talking and then doing some more talking helps---when with every talk we pick up just one little bit of information. WLS is no "walk in the park" for most of us. It is a life long journey. What is up to us is how we choose to travel down our WLS path. For me, I had to learn to listen to my sleeve. It will always guide me WHEN I take the time to listen to eat. I've learned to work WITH my sleeve and not against it. I no longer push its boundaries and therefore making it "cranky". Whenever I did that, I learned that my sleeve can be a bit vengeful, because whenever I would eat too fast or too much and made it angry, it had/has a way of "throwing it back in my face".--and right back out! Keep posting. There is always a member here to talk with. We want to hear how your journey is coming along and hopefully help you around the twists and turns. Prayers going up for you.
  12. I don't use it as a coating. I think it would make your entrée too "rich". Just sprinkle it on your hot entrée like grated cheese. Enjoy!

    restarting at 62

Welcome, I hope you will have a wondrous WLS journey. It really can be and I can say today that my journey is now joyful. It's taken me years to get to this point, but here I am. Prayers going up---I guess for the both of us.
  15. I bought some and can't quite figure out how to use it! You just sprinkle it on top of everything? that's about it. I just sprinkle onto my green salads. I sprinkle it onto veggies that I am going to roast, and I mix it into hot soups. I really like the cheesy/bready tastes it gives--plus the extra protein. YUM
  16. Valentina

    OMG I'm Starving!

Stay strong. You just had a major surgery. You're body is a wee be cranky if not all right pissed at you right now. Patience with the healing process is difficult, but healing and all that it entails takes time. Try to drink, drink, drink and walk as much as you can. If gas is causing your "hunger", walking will help. It will also help get the ol' endorphins flowing and help keep you mind occupied. If you still are feeling as you are now come Monday, then give your bariatric team a call. They will probably have a suggestion or two for you--according to your plan. Have a friend come over for awhile--or you go out visiting. Anything to change up your surroundings. Please keep posting and letting us know how you're doing. Prayers going up for some good things to happen.
  17. Valentina

Is it ok to feel this good!

Of course it is, you silly man! Just one word of caution: Remember you just had a major surgery. Be kind to yourself. Keep posting. Good news is always welcomed and needed. If and when the news is not so good, we want to hear about those times too. Maybe we can help. We'll try anyway. Prayers going up for a continued joyfu journey for you.

Come along with us! We are just a wee bit away, though. Maybe if you went with my daughters, I could slip away to the finish line and just say that I did it!!! Did I mention that I am terrified of heights?? Whose idea was this anyway? I'll have to check my will.....
  19. I agree. Homemade bone broth with fresh veggies and nutritional yeast added for enriching the taste and added Protein. crockpot overnight and then into the blender. Yummy! Prayers going up for a joyful journey, friend.

Just remember, ISG----it has to be an "itsy bitsy, teeny, weeny, yellow, polka dotted bikini". You've earned it! For me? After my skin surgery, I am going zip lining with my daughters. I still can't believe that they have talked me into thinking that zip lining is my "reward" for my WLS journey. I begin to think there's "shenanigans" afloat! But, I'm looking forward to the adventure of it with my grown daughters. PS: Did I mention that I am terrified of heights? Oh my...

    Summer Reading

Anyone from the 70's still alive and remember, "Jonathan Livingston Seagull"? The next time I'm at the surf and the fish are napping, I'm going to blow the dust off of my copy and take the 20min required to read it. I still love it. That's one very intelligent seagull---being able to write a book and all...

    ITCHY!

Good morning, Sometimes pain killers can cause itchiness like you describe. Another thought: If your diet doesn't include enough fat you're skin could be dried out. That's usually what happens to me and I find myself scratching in places that I have long forgotten that I had. I'm sure your "team" will have the answer for you when you call on Mon.. However, if you are breaking your skin open, that could lead to a nasty infection, so why not call today and talk to the doctor on call? Couldn't hurt---might help. Please post and let us know how you make out. Prayers going up.
