Are sleeved folks able to eat popcorn at any point?
Valentina replied to kadie777's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Probably if you Google "nutritional yeast", you'll get a better understanding of it. I buy mine bulk from a "natural food store". A Qt. Soup container costs about $5.00. I like the "flaked" rather than the "powder". You can buy it on Amazon or Walmart. It is really processed and a small container will cost about $8.00. I put it into a grated cheese shaker and used it on veggies, Soups, green salads, popcorn, endless possibilities. It great because it adds Protein with very few added calories. Let me know what you think if you decide to try it. -

I have heard that nutritional yeast is tasty! What else do you add it to?. Any veggie that I roast. My favorites are Brussel sprouts and Cauliflower and carrots. I also sprinkle it onto green salad and into hot broth. It tastes like cheese on the veggies and it has a "bready" taste in broths. There's a book on Amazon all about Nutritional Yeast that has many recipes. Have fun experimenting! -

Seriously, Ladies, try sprinkling some Nutritional Yeast on your popcorn. Take a bag of it with you to the movies. Try it----you'll like it!! Report back, please after you've tried it. -
Weight loss—high this week albeit increased food intake?
Valentina replied to fatgirlsvelte's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Congrats! I am 5yrs out and when my weight loss slowed, my Nut. actually increased my daily caloric intake. Sometimes our bodies go into starvation mode and will hang on to every oz of fat it can. We all need a certain amount of calories to sustain life, so yes, it is possible to increase one's caloric intake and lose weight. Right now, I'm heading for skin surgery this summer, so my surgeon and Nut. have balanced out my menu by adding whole grains and more fruits. This will increase my caloric intake, but will make my body more capable of a better and faster recovery after surgery. Enjoy the burritos while you can. After WLS, it will be awhile until you'll have them again. -
I went to the Keyport Fishery in NJ and had a full platter of fish--fried, baked, broiled and raw---and of course souped. Do I regret having my "food funeral"? Not one damned bit! I'll have those memories for a life time. There will be foods that you will not ever eat comfortably again. --and if you are one of the WLS people who experience dumping, you will never be able to eat those foods again without retching--ever. Enjoy your "food funeral". I did.

I love burned popcorn. Weird, right? To justify eating it, I sprinkle Nutrional Yeast onto it. It's not only yummy, but it adds Protein. Just be careful, because too much can easily be eaten. -

Anyone ask their surgeon for this?
Valentina replied to SalOdyssey's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@TheOdysseyOfAStoutman: Watching the video of my knee replacement was a great tool for the in-laws "having to go home early". (When I had in-laws) I think I'll ask for a video of my skin surgery. Now, THAT should really be grotesque! -
June 27 - FREAKING OUT
Valentina replied to charley27's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At the gate. Waiting for the firing of the starter's pistol...!! Then: Off you go! Try to relax. You've worked hard to get this far. Now let the your team do theirs. There'll be plenty for you to do after your surgery. For now? Rest, my friend. -
Take a deep breath and relax. You got this! Let the games begin!!!!

The Bariatric Center of Excellence where I had my WLS Cathed all bariatric patients. It was done in the OR,after the patient was "asleep", and was usually removed in the Recovery room. -

I have the video of my knee replacement, so why not? Go for it. The most he/she can say is, "no". Let us know, because we're nosy... -
Does anyone own a Fitbit?
Valentina replied to haveyoumetalexx's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My daughter bought a waterproof fitbit for herself at the same time she bought mine. Her husband stepped on hers while washing his motorcycle (don't ask ), it became water damaged and Fitbit replaced it---no problem. -
Garth Brooks: If Tomorrow Never comes "If tomorrow never comes, will she know how much I loved her? Did I try in every way to show her every day that she's my only one. And if my time on Earth is through and she must face this world without me Is the love I gave her in the past Gonna be enough to last--If Tomorrow Never Comes"

So, did you ever find out just what Nurse Nasty was "probing for"? My guess is that she was properly checking for worms. Yep, that's it----worms. -
I think you need to go to the ER--today--preferably the one that you bariatric team works with. Something is wrong somewhere if you are this ill. Be assertive--not aggressive and get some answers, my friend. Go. Feel better. I'm concerned for you. Don't panic. Take a deep breath, then go find your answers.

Of course one needs to follow their own bariatric plan.... Now, to answer your question. I had coffee --just sips---the day I had surgery. Coffee was figured into my bariatric journey from step #1. My Nut, surgeon and therapist were all aware and approved the final decision. Ask your team. It never hurts to ask. Best wishes .

Will I ever enjoy food I like again
Valentina replied to hazelzay's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you answering. I did the gastric bypass I'm so scared of the "dumping" I miss reg food but most of all ginger ale lol Sent from my SM-G900T using the BariatricPal App Is it the carbonation or is it the ginger ale "taste? If it's the taste itself, try this: (It worked for me and root beer) Crock pot a chicken in diet ginger ale. I know. It sounds really bizarre, but it works. Try it and let me know... Or just drink a flat diet ginger ale, but that's not getting any Protein and it's not nearly as much fun. Good luck! -
As long as it's not one of those "Jersey Devils from the Pine Barrens". Are you sure it wasn't your sleeve "talking" to you? Mine sounds like two dinosaurs chatting at times.

I'm wondering if my sleeve is small enough?
Valentina replied to Km77942009's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Naaaa, you are fine. Unless she changes it to, "The Crazy Pizza Lady Who Uses A Straw". That would do it .
