Hi, I had mine done on 12/5. You made me laugh because getting my hair done before surgery was a major priority. I bought Isopure and have been using that. You get 40 grams of Protein plus it is 20 ounces of liquid. Taste is not that great but remember, this is just a temporary thing. I think of it as medicine. I have been using the sugar free popsicles and broth. If you can get 2 bottles of the Isopure down during the day, that would be 80 grams. I was very fortunate and have not had to take of pain medicine since I have been home. In fact, I only really used the pain meds on the first day of surgery. I used it twice on day 2 and nothing and the 3rd day when i was sent home. Was I in discomfort, yeah, a little, but I really hate the feeling that comes with pain meds. I had found that the most discomfort comes from the incision closest to where the stomach is. One of the gals posted a prayer for surgery on 12/4 to use. The most beautiful words. Gina (aka MakingChanges) is the gal who wrote the prayer.
Father in the mighty name of Jesus, I ask you Lord to touch the mind and hands of each surgeon, nurse, anesthesiologist and caretaker who will come in contact with me during my hospital stay. Lord, I pray that my liver is small enough so that the surgeon could work around it. Lord I pray that there would be no complication during or after surgery. Father, Allow no hurt, harm or danger to come to me. I pray for minimal pain, minimal gas and no mishaps. I pray that I will return home as scheduled, and that my recovery will be an easy one. Lord, I know that I am in your hand and it’s You whom I put ALL my trust in and that You O’ Lord have control over everything and I am glad that You are my keeper and my safety place is in You Lord where I hide myself and find rest.
Thank You, Father for being the Creator of all things and creating me, NO ONE knows this body better than You.
Lord, I also ask in the name of Jesus that you would watch over my children, while I am in the hospital, place Your Holy Angels around them, for You, O’ Lord am their safety nest too. Thank You Father.
Amen.
I said that prayer before my surgery, and the Lord blessed me with everything I asked for.
Good luck and a safe journey, Star
Babigirl111, glad to hear that you like the hospital. Ironically, I had surgery on my knee 2 years ago at Tri City. How ironic, my surgery was in and out the same day so I can't say much for the hospital. I work for the court system and noticed your profession. Made me laugh.
I have told everybody that I am having weight loss surgery. I am pretty much an open book about most things in my life and thought that maybe my going public with my decision to have surgery may help someone else. You know, a co-worker goes home and says to his cousin, gee, a girl at work at wls and gee it is really working for her. I have to make this surgery work. I have coronary heat disease now and really bad knees and I want to live. So far I haven't had anyone be negative about it. Of course, they see how hard things are for me, so, perhaps they are on my side.
Surgery date for me is December 5, 2011 at Orange Coast Memorial Center in Fountain Valley, CA. My doctor is Dr. Ali. I am excited and ready to go. I feel like the car at the red light waiting to see green so I can hit the pedal to the metal. I am not nervous. I have had a rough year. My mom passed away in March and I finally decided that it was my turn to get healthy. Doing that I discovered a little issue with coronary heart disease and underwent an angioplasty in June. Approval for me and weight loss was a piece of cake. Although, I laugh because it only means that I have enough serious issues for my insurance company to yes so quickly. Keeping my fingers crossed that my cardiologist gives me the thumbs up on the 21st of November. I had to undergo a routine nuclear stress test on my heart today and really want for there to be good news when i see him.
