    July Master List

What a good idea! My surgery date is July 20th!
  2. Although I don't have Aetna or Tricare, I was approved without any supervised diet. (I have BCBS of MI) The only thing my suregon really asked for was "previous attempts at weight loss" which I just had to explain over the phone. I think it really depends on your insurance company. Could you call them and ask if any supervised diet is needed and maybe get a jump start on it if it is? Good luck on your journey!
  3. You look AWESOME! Loving the boudoir pics! I bet that was a nice surprise for the hubby!
  4. Surgery is scheduled for July 20! 22 days !

    Submitted to Insurance!

The only type of approval I needed was for the insurance department of the hospital to call BCBS and "verify my benefits." I was instantly approved. It took my insurance lady maybe 3 hours to call me back and let me know. I was approved last friday, and since my suregon is out of town this week, I won't be able to schedule anything until Monday because he has to sign off on my chart. Everyone is definitely different with how long it takes in this process. Mine, luckily, has been very speedy!
  6. APPROVED! I should find out my surgery date early next week!

    AVERAGE WAIT TIME

I am currently awaiting approval, but my suregon told me to expect it to take about ten days. He said from consultation to surgery it could be as fast as a month for me since all I needed was a psych eval for approval!

    Approved for Surgery July 11

Congrats! July 11th will be here sooner than you think!
  10. and the insurance waiting game begins...

  11. Consultation went great... 3 days until psych eval! Let's hope I'm not crazy :)

  12. I made my psych eval appointment for this Saturday, 6/11 at 11:30! Weekend openings are so convienent! Thanks for the support!
  13. Yep, I just got a confirmation call from the surgeon's office! And I confirmed with my insurance that I was covered... I am reaaddyy! What are you going to U of M for?

  14. Hi there! When are you coming to Michigan? I just realized that our birthdays are 6 days apart!

  15. Hi Alhoagirl! It is really cool finding other people who go thru Barix. I am going with Dr. Pop because I have two friends that used him and loved him and I also he was the one that taught the seminar I went to. I like that he's really straight forward and experienced. I haven't yet started my process yet (11 more days!) so things may change. Have you picked a doctor yet?

  16. 11 days until my consultation! Lets get this process started already!

    Michigan Sleevers

I must have missed this post, too! I plan on being sleeved at the Barix Clinic in Ypsilanti...not too far from the Ann Arbor area. I can't wait!
  19. I'm glad you found Dr. McFadden! She is really a nice and understanding woman. I actually work about 2 miles away from there. I have my consultation June 6 and am SO EXCITED. Hopefully the process will go quickly for me because I'm pretty impatient lol. Hope all is well with your journey!

  20. That book was my very first step into looking into WLS. There is a lot of good info in it, but I have learned A LOT more from VST and YouTube. Also, I agree with doggz109, there is about one paragraph in it that explains the sleeve.
  21. Congrats!! It'll be here sooner than you know it!
  22. Hi there! How did your six week appointment go with Dr. Pop? I was curious as to what kinds of pre-op testing Barix required you to do? I've been reading around on here and everyones experiences vary so much. Thanks and hope you're doing great!

  23. Hello everyone! I have been reading the VST boards for awhile now and decided to sign up and join the fun. My name is Leah and I live in the area of Ann Arbor, Michigan. I am 21 years old and have been overweight/obese it seems like my whole life! My weight started going up probably when puberty around 11 years old. Throughout the years, I have tried many, many different things in an attempt to lose weight. I've tried Weight Watchers twice, a program for teens called M Power through the University of Michigan, Orlistat (yuck!), Phentermine twice, Adkins, and keeping a personal eating diary on my own. Although I have lost the same 30-60 pounds over and over again, I am back up to my highest weight. I have been considering WLS since I was about 17 and have seriously looked into it in the past few months. I went to a seminar at the Barix Clinic in Ypsilanti on April 4th. Before I went to the seminar, I was considering the Lap Band, but quickly changed my mind from the seminar info, reading posts on here, and watching HOURS of videos on YouTube. Unfortunately, I don't have insurance at this time and have to wait until June (when I get my insurance back) to begin my journey. I have a consultation on June 6th and am literally counting down the days. I can't wait!!! A big thanks to everyone on here sharing your stories and helping other people through their journeys! Can't wait to share mine with everyone! -Leah
  24. Hi there... I actually work in Ann Arbor and spend a lot of time here, but live about 15 minutes outside of the city. My general doc is Kristin McFadden who I have seen only twice (I just switched)... but I like her. I can also recommend the MHealthy program that is run through the U of M Health System. They have nutritionists on hand who would probably be able to help. Good luck to you!

  25. Hi Emily. My doctor is also doing something similar to the consult/physical/history... they use a site called Digital Bariatrics to track patient information, doc visits, and all that fun stuff. Before my visit, I have to make sure I have my entire medical history filled out on there so I don't have to do it during my consult. Luckily, I live less than 10 minutes away from Barix Clinic here in Michigan. It is an entire hospital dedicated to bariatric surgery. I have to wait until June 6 because I won't have insurance until then. *sigh* Where are you having your surgery at?
