  1. You are so right, we are sleeve sisters both done on the same day. I don't thnk I watched tv at all for a while, well except AI which is my guilty pleasure lol. We go through so much but it is so worth it. I have actually cried due to some of the amazing results so far. Although I do not have some of the issues you have dealt with I have dealt with some of my own too as we all have. Everyones experience is so different but yet the same. Some physical some mental some just overwhelming. In the end we are all here for the same thing, to get healthy. So you have given a couple of tips, thought I might do the same as well Like you said about watching the food etc. If you can't get away from it especially at meal time for your family, get up and go in another room or go and take a short walk. It helped me to go out back and just sit and enjoy the night air on some nights. I was feeling a kind of "empty" feeling in the morning when I woke up so I made sure that while I sat in the kitchen, pre op I would sip my coffee, well now I sip my Protein shake. (still not allowed caffeine ) I would also eat at the same times I always ate before, when I got to work, instead of a McDonald artery clogger or bagel or big omellet etc, I would have another shake, now because I am on mushies I would have a greek yogurt. I would make it a point to eat something at lunch time. Today I went to Salsarita's and had some refried Beans with cheese and just a little bit of salsa. dinner, my family ordered Chinese food, I made me some mashed and used a little bit of the egg foo young gravey lol, made me feel a little more included. Good Luck to everyone!

  3. Hi,

    Are you ever uptown? :)

  4. Saw my doc today and he gave me the go ahead to start on mushies and said I am progressing great! I lost so 12 pounds since the operation and a total of 25 since the pre op diet started. Not bad in 4 weeks if I do say so myself. Well to say the least I was like a kid in a candy store and loaded up! LOL. Got some SF oatmeal, grits, SF choc pudding, a couple of the FF greek yogurts with fruit, and hubby is making some mashed tonight. Over the past week I have had zero problem getting 4 shakes down a day to equal 60 gr of Protein and have been drinking Water with absolute ease. I just ate an oatmea and thought I was going to be like so many people on here and only have a few bites, but I was able to eat the whole thing. I feel absolutely full to the gills and litterally just burped as I am typing this (the indication for so many that you've had enough) . Thoughts: I think I was overly excited to be able to have something to eat besides shakes and just kept eating. My tummy is tight right now and I don't think I am feeling so great right at this moment not to the point of being sick but just not comfortable. Like so many you live and learn by trial and error. I will say this, it is an interesting feeling to feel this full on so little. I do believe this is going to work out for me as long as I don't over do it and "listen" to my sleeve. Consumed today so far: 2 Atkins low carb/low sugar Protein drinks calories: 320 protein: 30 carbs: 4 sugar: 2 1 packet of low sugar maple and brown sugar instant oatmeal made with about a 1/2 cup of skim milk calories: 165 protein: 8 carbs: 31 sugars: 10 Let me know your thoughts and insights on anything, I am open to any and all suggestions! NEED YOUR HELP

I drink the Atkins low carb low sugar Protein drink. Its 11 oz and has 15 gr of protein, I know not a lot but the taste is really good and that is what gets me through. My first week out it took me 2 hours to drink one and I managed 2 to 2 1/2 a day. The second week I was up to a full 3. Now on week 3 I have no issues getting 4 in. I drink: one for Breakfast when I get up at around 6 am one at around 10am at work one at around 3pm at work one at night around 8 or 9 when watching tv. When I was on fulls only I would have the Soups and broths in between all of those. I get the 60 I am required and in the middle of it all I drink all my Water. Now that I am on mushies, I have a greek yogurt most days for lunch, or an oatmeal and mashed w/gravey for dinner. Tonight I am having refried Beans with some cheese, sour cream and picante sause. Hope this helps!

    Hair Loss

I wouldn't think that would be a deciding factor for the surgery to better health, but thats just me. From what I have read, you do not lose all of your hair just some. Well worth it if you ask me and I have very thin hair. I figure I'll get a short hair cut if it gets really bad and then when it grows back, I'll have natural layers LOL.
  9. Congrats on your sleeve and recovery!!!

    Scared now.

Tiffykins and LilMissDiva are both "vets" they will be able to answer your questions honestly and openly. You will find that most here are very very supportive and will help in anyway they can. That being said, from what I have read, your stomach will stretch a little but not a lot. The part that does the most stretching is cut out. Also, I have read that they do eat basically normal amounts. Keeping in mind Protein first initially but over all a very normal diet. LOL I am only 3 weeks post op and can only tell you what I have read, but keep in mind it is seriously different for everyone and you will learn to listen to your body. Good luck on your journey!

    Off Work

I was sleeved on the 27th and back to my desk on May 9th. A little slow going atn first but otherwise was doing well.
  12. You are going to do great, you have informed yourself and you are ready for this jouney. I am so happy for you! Sounds like your doc has a great well rounded plan.

    My One Month Out

I am so happy for you! Glad you are healing and I wouldnt worry about the weight loss, that will come in its own time and at its own pace. I agree with you on being informed too. I believe when you decide to do something like this you have to be as informed as you can possibly be. It helps in the entire process, both mentally and physically. Feel good and keep us updated!
  14. Thanks 1-4, I agree at this stage the caloric intake is so low that we need some carbs for our energy and healing. I figure if I stay in the 40 to 60 range I'll be ok. Once I get to the actual food state (one more week!!!!) I will start watching things more closely and stringently.
  15. Today is a GREAT day :)

  16. I am totally excited!!! Saw my PCP today and well she agreed to take me off of my last diabetic pill. HOOORAHHHH I guess that means I am not diabetic anymore and it has only been 3 weeks since surgery and 5 weeks on the diet. In addition to that I don't have to take anymore blood pressure medicine....unless my Nephrologist says otherwise this afternoon, which I don't think he will. So the pill update: 20 to 10 to 6 to 2 a day in 3 weeks. I love my sleeve and it is doing exactly what I wanted it to do and more. I cried this morning with a big huge smile on my face. Just couldn't help myself. Raine

7 Months and Feeling Like a Success

All I can say is WOW!!! Fantastic results and you are right the before and after pics are really inspiring!
  20. Absolutely wonderful! My friend told me today at work that I need to do something about my clothes lol. I am only 3 weeks post op and 5 weeks on the diet, and my clothes are hanging on me. I don't want to go shopping yet, soon but not quite yet. I am going to pick up two goal items though, a little black dress and a pair of size 6 jeans. I don't think that I have ever been a size six LOL. Thank you and all of the "vets" for making this journey so much more understandable and easy for all of us.

Good job to you and your sis! Glad you guys are doing well, it only gets easier from here on out.

    Mushies too Soon?

Your plan sounds the same as mine .... full liquids 2 weeks pre op clears for 2 1/2 days post op fulls until docs visit almost 2 weeks from surgery date now on mushies until the 4th week is over. Then what I can handle.
  23. Pre surgery never had an issue, now I go maybe once every two to three days. My docs office said that was great so I guess its ok. Just feels weird not to everyday.
  24. Raine

Has someone commented on your weight loss?

One of my co-workers told me "Hey I'm telling you now that I don't want to see skinny jeans at work" and my neighbor (female) said that as I walked into her court yard she can see i'm losing weight because she can see my boobs first and not my belly. Odd but OK, I'll take it. LOL
