  1. First off, does anyone else get the hiccups when they eat/drink? This is driving me nuts.

Also, I've been experiencing periods of extreme sweating before my meals. Blood sugar & blood pressure are fine, but I break out in this miserable sweat & get so nauseous. Anyone else experiencing this and if so, how long until it stopped? I'm 11 days post op. Thx.

  2. Jennifer, I'm with you on removal of the drain -OUCH!!!! The on Q was nothing.

    Hi Heather.....

No, Dr Weiss doesn't do the PPI test post op. I am not sure if Dr Oldham does or not. Girl, I'll tell you the truth........they took my On Q pump out in the hospital and I don't even remember it. I had to stay an extra day because I was having breathing troubles so before I left it was empty. However, the drain being removed was just terrible. I have talked to other people who said it didn't bother them at all.

Have you bought some of those Gas X strips? Those helped me alot after surgery. Have you packed your bag yet?

    Jennifer

  3. I think they are just so you can be "visually accountable" for everything you put in your mouth. That's how I use mine. When I begin experiencing stalls, I will go back and look to see if I ate too much or too little and try to figure out a new game plan. Hope this helps.

  5. I just had sugery with Dr. Weiss last Thursday. It went extremely well. He is wonderful and the hospital staff were extremely professional and very prompt in getting to me if I had any problems. I would HIGHLY recommend him.

Hello, I'm plannong on getting the VSG at Bluegrass Baraitric Surgical Associates in Lexington, KY. I'm leaning toward Dr. Weiss. Has anyone used him before or gotten your procedure done with Central Baptist? Please let me know how your process and procedure went. Thanks.

  6. I had surgery on Thursday and can say that I too feel the almost sadness when it's time for my family to eat. It hasn't been too bad until today when my kids came back from my moms house. I did however cook their meal and sat at the table with my Clear Liquids and just enjoyed talking to them. It was hard but I have to remember why I've done this. I might also add that grocery shopping is sad too. It's not that I like shopping, but that there are so many things there which I would have loved to take "just one bite" of. Hang in there. We can do this together!!!!!!!

  7. Someone may have already posted something like this and if so I apologize in advance. I'm just a few days out and still having nausea so trying to find creative ways to get in some Protein. I took juice from 2 lemons, a little Water, some splenda, ice cubes and Unjury unflavored Protein Powder (1 scoop= 21 grams protein). Blended in blender for a smoothies. It's not earth shattering, it's very tolerable and I managed to get in some protein. ;0)

  8. Surgery was on thursday morning and i was dismissed from the hospital friday pm. The hardest part so far has been the gas pains. I've been taking the Meds they gave me, but haven't had much relief. I'm still taking some pain meds and will have to be on Clear Liquids until Thursday when I can change to full liquids. I feel like ive had more than my share of chicken broth so far. I'm trying to get all of my fluids in, but that too is hard. Ugh! I sure hope this gets easier as I advance to more solid foods. Clear liquids are rough!!!

  9. I'm getting nervous!!!!! I'm being sleeved tomorrow. Any last minute suggestions or words of encouragement? I'm anxious to have the "new" me - feeling better, looking better and hopefully healthier, but my stomach has started rolling b/c I'm so nervous. UGH! Please say a prayer tomorrow am that all is well with my surgery and that I have a speedy recovery. Thanks! :D

  10. I'm scheduled for surgery on Thursday @ Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, KY. I haven't been nervous until today. The more I think about all of the "rules" regarding the Clear Liquids, then full liquids, mushies, etc., the more nervous I get. I guess that my main concern is with getting enough Protein. I don't so much worry about it when I get to eat "real" food, as I do in the early stages. I've tried so many of the Protein Shots and I have to gag all of them down. It's not so much the taste, as it is the smell. I talked to my dietician about this, but she said that she doesn't notice a difference in the smell. I just hope that I can do this. I don't have a problem with the Protein Drinks (e.g., Adkins, etc), but it's the Isopure or the protein shots from GNC or Wal-Mart that almost push me over the edge. UGH! Can someone truthfully reassure me that this will get better? Wish me luck. I move to clear liquids tomorrow in preparation for surgery. I'm first on the schedule for Thursday am, so I have to be at the hospital at 5:30, surgery at 7:30. Here's to the skinny me with (hopefully) less medical problems! :D

  11. I'm so excited I can hardly stand it!!!!!!! The insurance coordinator at the MD office sent me an e-mail yesterday and said that Humana State (for KY) is now paying for sleeve for patients with BMI >35 with 2 co-morbidities. They previously were only paying for 50+ BMI. I'm so excited to think that I'm going to be saving all that $. They were going to submit my 6 months of MD visits this AM. They said I should know something in about 72 hours! YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
