    Bookleen's Plateau

I live in Dublin. I am eating normally, well I mean the way I used to! Except smaller portions. I need to go back to the basics if I am ever to lose this weight. I am delighted with this new group, as it is what I need.

    Bookleen's Plateau

Hi Cludgie, I notice that you had your surgery in Belgium. Me too! They are a fantastic team, and I could not praise them highly enough. Did you have the same good experience? Bookleen

    Welcome new Members!!!

Thanks a million Irene for starting this new group. It was/is really needed. I am delighted to be able to join in here and hopefully stay connected until goal. I was sleeved in April 2010 at 213 lbs weight, . 5'5" tall, and a BMI of 35.6. In the first 7 months I lost 50 - 53 lbs and have stalled since. I now weigh in at 160-163 lbs. Do I see a suggestion that we each start our own thread within "the final stretch=30lbs or less to goal"? Do others respond to us within that thread or how do you wish it to go? This is just what I need. Cheers!

    MD as a patient

Best of Good Luck tomorrow, and in the coming weeks too.
  7. Hi thinoneday, Welcome on board. Hopefully we all be thin one day
  8. Yes, I'm game to stay with this until we hit goal. I am not too good at typing and do it with 2 fingers. Still, I believe that those who stay with the boards do better, so I am back here to stay until goal. I am feeling good now because it is Friday evening and i am having my first of 2 glasses of wine
  9. Hi Dawn, You have 19 lbs to go. This is the place for you - less than 25 lbs! Good luck to you with your tracking and gym. I don't mind tracking but don't fancy the gym much
  10. Hi Chilo, You are starting again? Well maybe some of your enthusiasm will spill out onto us! I am trying to get started too, but finding loads of excuses. Maybe, this little group could stay together and cheer each other across the finish line.
  11. Hi Stacy160 Great to hear from you. We have approx the same amount to lose. Yes, I agree we have a better chance in the Summer. Let's use that chance. I fear that if I don't lose some more this Summer I never will. Yes, we can! Yes. we can! Yes, we will!
  12. Hi , I am 13 months since surgery and everything went well for me. I lost weight for the first 7 months. Nothing since. I have another 14 lbs to lose to get my BMI into the normal weight range, but I would like to lose even more and get down a further 10 lbs or so. I did not deliberately go into maintenance but it appears that is where I am. Just wondering if there is anyone else out there struggling to lose those last few lbs? Also wondering if I can resume losing after such a long stall? Would welcome any comments, advice or support to get me back on tract. Bookleen

2 years post op and need advice

Hi. I am very interested in this topic. I was just going to post one of my own when I came across yours. Unfortunately I haven't any useful advice to add to what has already been written here but I would be happy to join up with you for the next 3 weeks or so on a daily basis to help us both become more accountable to one another and ultimately to ourselves. I am 13 months post surgery and have lost 50 lbs in the first 7 months. Nothing since. My BMI was 35.6 and is now 27. I would like to drop to a BMI of approx 24. It would be great to do this during the Summer months. I am 56 years old and having problems walking due to a foot problem. I am not exercising at all now. It is 19 days until I go on holidays to the continent so I would like to see a 3 to 4 lbs loss before then. That should be enough time to get motivated again. Would love to link up with you and others in the same boat. Any takers? Bookleen

    April 2010 Sleevers!

Hi Everyone, Today is my 1 year anniversary so I am logging on my details as promised. I never had any problems or complications and I am pleased with the new lifestyle. I lost 53 lbs in the first 6 months and have been within a 3 lb weight range since. Today I am at the upper end of the 3 lb.so can only record a 50 lb loss. Age 56, female. Height 5'5" Starting weight 213 lbs Current weight 163 lbs Weight Loss 50 lbs Starting BMI 35.44 Current BMI 27.12 Change in BMI 8.32 Inch Loss Neck 1.5 Wrist 0.5 Forearm 0.5 Upper arm 1.5 Shoulder 2.5 Bust 3 Ribcage 3 Waist 6 Hips 4-5 Mid Thigh 4-5 Knee 2-5 Calf 2 Ankle 0 I am pleased with my results and new life style, however, I now wish to start losing again and have a new mini-goal of 150 lbs or BMI of 24.95 to strive for on 4th July. Eventually I would like to get to 133 lbs weight with a BMI of 22.13., that would give me a total weight loss of 80 lbs. Hopefully, I will achieve that in the coming 12 months. Would love to hear from other April 2010 Sleevers Bookleen

    April 2010 Sleevers!

Hi All April 2010 Sleevers and Everyone else who wishes to drop in and say Hello! It is great to see this thread back again. Life is good for me, but I also have not reached goal. In fact I have not fully decided what goal is? I have been in a 6 month stall and enjoying maintenance too soon. My surgery was 26th so I will weigh in and measure up tomorrow, I have cut back on carbs for a few days now hoping that will make a difference to my 1 year mark. It would be great if we all could keep this thread alive until we all reach our goals. I stopped using the boards for the past 6 months and found that I lose my focus when I am not in touch. There is a great thread in the General section called "4th July- How much will you weigh" and I have joined that and pledged to lose another 14 lbs. That has helped me get focused again. Looking forward to hearing from all April 2010 Sleevers, Will be back tomorrow with my statistics. Bookleen
  17. Hi Everyone. I don't post very much here which may explain my long stall. I am coming up towards my first year surgery anniversary which is a time of reckoning and stocktaking. I started out at a weight of 213 lbs and lost 50 lbs in the first 6 months and then I hit a stall. Lately I have been just living life and not really thinking about my sleeve at all and maintained my weight without any effort or without any further weight loss .My body or my lifestyle seems to like this weight. I am now at 164 lbs with a BMI of 27. I still have a lot of weight around my middle which I would like to lose I was initially hoping to get to 140 lbs. I am getting motivated again to tidy up my act and to get back to planning what I eat and taking account of what I eat. I know what to do...I just have to start doing it. Now, I have a load of questions and would love your opinions on any or all of my concerns. The first question is how did you all decide on what your goal weight would be? Is there anyone out there that stalled for as long as I have and then resumed their weight loss successfully? Is there any statistics on weight loss percentages for the second year? Is it usual to continue to lose weight in year 2 or 3? I know I need to focus and get motivated again so I would appreciate any help you can give. Looking forward to all comments. Bookleen

    Deciding on Goal Weight

Hi Chilo and Coops, Thanks for your replies. It is encouraging to know that I am not alone. I have spent hours reading around this forum and now I feel much more motivated to get my act together. This is a great place. I particularly like the post " What will you weigh 4th July". I have joined that thread and pledged to lose 14 lbs. This helps me get focused again. I have already started to increase my protein and reduce the carbs. Also making some exercise or just movement compulsory every day, even if it is only a little. My anniverary for 1 year out is on Tues, so I want to feel in control that day. Bookleen

    April 2010 Sleevers!

Hello Breezy, Good to hear from you. It will be great to reconnect with all our April 2010 sleevers and catch up with their stories. I was sleeved on 26rth April and intend to do a full report with measurements then as part of my surgiversary. I have had a good year and am pleased with my progress and improved lifestyle, although when I compare myself to others my success will not seem remarkable. It has been and is remarkable to me! I lost easily and steadily for the first 6 months without any problems but seemed to have plateaued since then. I developed foot problems and have been resting my foot since then which is probably why I have not lost any weight in the past 6 months. I started out at 213 lbs weight and a BMI of 35, and have lost approx 50 lbs to reach a BMI of just under 27. I would like to lose another 20 or perhaps 30 lbs and think that I will continue to lose more when I get more active, hopefully this Summer. I am happy enough to have this stall because I think I might have looked too worn out and dragged down if I had lost the weight too fast. I am 56 years old so I want to be careful. It also gives me a chance to wear old some of the clothes I had packed into my wardrobes that had never been worn because they had gotten too small. I love my new life now. I still love food and enjoy eating out with friends just as much as before. I also now enjoy dressing up to go out. For anyone reading this, I would have no hesitation in recommending this procedure and I am very happy with my past year and look forward to more of the same. Life is good. Bookleen

    April 2010 Sleevers!

Hello to All the 2010 Sleevers! It's almost a full year for us now, so I thought it would be a good time to re-open this thread before April starts and invite you all back to discuss your past 12 months. I am having problems logging in as I changed my laptop recently and I think that some settings may need to be changed. This webpage has also changed since last year and I don't know my way around yet. I originally started this thread last year under the name "Bookleen" but subsequently changed it to "Booklean" to reflect my progress! Since I was unable to log in as "Booklean" I have rejoined as "Bookleen". I am just posting this post to see if everything is working and I will be back soon to discuss my progress and reflections later. Looking forward to a grand reunion! Bookleen
