  1. I have about 70lbs total to lose.

I have lost about 15lbs so far...

Was sleeved April 8 and I'm learning about what I can tolerate...

I can put away a lot of fluids at this point. I know I really need to monitor my carb in take.

I signed up for the Myfitnesspal.com. I have been using this to tract what I'm consuming.

I'm really not consuming all that much being so close out of surgery but I want to get in the habit.

I'm afraid that the pounds will stop coming off...

  2. I was sleeved April 8 by Dr. Almanza in TJ.

Home to my own bed on April 11.

I have had no issues getting fluids in. The site where the drain was leaked up til last night. I let it air with the butterfly bandaid.

I worked from home last week and back at the office yesterday (Monday) tired when I got home.

My one stitch site is sore (from drain) but for the most part I feel good.

  3. I can relate... I have my surgery this Friday April 8. My husband knows and a very close friend or two. My parents know I was considring the sleeve months back and knew I was having insurance issues.

I'm a type 1 diabetic and my insurance does not support weigh loss surgeries for Type 1 diabetics...so I'm going to TJ Mexico to have it done.

I mentioned briefly to my mom about going to Mexico and I knew she was skeptical. So I did not tell her I was booked and confirmed.

I did not want her to worry.

My parents called 2 weeks ago and said they were going on vacaton for 2 weeks from April 2 - April 16. So they will be out of country the week before and the week after. It worked out great!

When they get back I'll done and home and have already completed my first week of liquid post-op diet.

I'll see how I feel about when I decide to tell tell them. I know I will not see them until 2 weeks post-op at the earliest. Unless I tell my mom when she gets home and she might want to some up to visit with me.

  4. I'm new to this site as well.

I'm going to San Diego on April 7. My surgery is with Dr. Almanza on April 8.

I'm flying home to NJ on April 11.

We are on the same schedule.

That is exciting for me. Please keep in touch as it will be great to compare stories or meet up in Tijuana. I'll be at Jerusalem Hospital.

Hello everyone! I am so excited and scared but happy to be soon joining you all as a loser lol. I am from NC and since 2005, I have wanted the surgery. Unfortunately, at that time I was at 34 BMI with no health issues. Fast foward to 2009 I was at 43 but no insurance anymore. Today I am at 41 and as my my says, have cash, will travel lol. I know there are many other docs in Mexico that are better known but the one I chose seems to put me at ease and also is what my budget can afford since aftercare will be self-pay as well.

I have been on a low carb diet since the 7th and lost a total of 18 pounds so far but will fluctuate a day or so before the number changes. I don't mind that as long as it goes down sooner or later. But the pre-op diet is coming this Sunday so I am really gonna miss having the option of a meal if I want for about the next couple months though I am sure my heart will love the weight loss!

Anyway, just wanted to say hello and though I doubt anyone is, just seeing if anyone else is gonna be using or used Dr. Ponce DeLeon in Tijuana?
