    Insurance Comments

Hi Eveyone, I think it would be great if you all could please post the name of your insurance company when you talk about "my insurance company" it would be helpful to know which insurance companies are more difficult to work with etc. I realize every policy and Doc are different but it gives an idea of what we should look out for with certain companies. Thanks!
  3. Hello, I'm picking up Harvard Pilgrim in MA starting in July 1. I've called several clinics in the area and they all say that HP is the best next to Blue Cross to gain an approval. I have a close friend that had no problem at all getting approval through HP but had BMI in mid 40s. But I have had the same experience with them being rude. But I called back to ask the same questions and finally got ahold of someone teriffic. My suggestion is to call back until you find a rep that is more helpful. Good luck and please keep me posted on what you find out. gingersnap

    Tricare

Tricare stopped covering LapBand in 2004 due to "effectiviness" and longterm result concerns. I can't see them changing their policy anytime soon. But wouldn't it be great if they did! I'll keep my fingers crossed. I still plan to submit a plea for coverage.

    Insurance Recommendation

:help: I currently have Tricare Prime but have the option of picking up a different insurance through my work as a Massachusetts State Employee. Are there any insurance companies you would recommend? Thanks!

    Insurance Recommendation

I haven't submitted the request. However it is an exclusion under my current Tricare Insurance policy. They stopped covering the procedure in 2004 and it doesn’t look like anyone else in the forum has had any luck with Tricare. So ironic that I could have Gastric Bypass without a problem but not the LapBand. Please let me know if you have any recommendations of insurances that have been easier than others to work with. I'm just starting the research process. I'll post what I find out. Thanks!!!
  7. I currently have Tricare Prime but have the option of picking up additional insurance in June through my job as a Massachusetts State Employee . What are the easiest Health Plans to work with for coverage or ones that I should absolutely avoid? Thanks, G
