    Carbs And Fat

Actually I think 120 gms of carbs may be a little high and 30 gms of fat may be a little low. We need carbs for energy and fat for Vitamin absorption, especially Vitamin D. Obviously if you have lost 95 lbs in 10 weeks you are doing something right, but I can't imagine eating up to 120 carbs a day and keeping your calories at 900 if you are getting your protein in too. I must be misunderstanding your stats. Just have your doctor keep track of your vitamin B and D levels to make sure you are not deficient. Vitamin deficiencies can cause all kinds of problems. I have been very conscientious about my supplements since being sleeved, and I am still low in D. Per doctor orders, I have increased my vitamin D supplement and my fat intake. I am due for a recheck in August. I believe so many sleevers go overboard with low carb and fat intake and they end up extremely fatigued and feeling bad. They are losing weight and their health at the same time. I see this in so many posts, but I hardly ever respond because there are already so many responders. Just be diligent about following up with your doctor and lab work. Good luck...Kathe

    Where's The Beef...i Mean Veggies?

Just make sure you get all your Protein in and you can have all the veggies you can hold. They do take up quite a bit of room in the sleeve. Sometimes I eat protein for my meal and then snack on veggies in between. Most healthy veggies don't have that many calories. To me, steamed or lightly braised broccoli, asparagus, brussels sprouts, zucchini, summer squash, etc are just as good as candy. You definitely do not have to give up your favorite foods after the sleeve. Your tummy will self limit what you can have. This whole journey is not about deprivation, it is about control. Happy trails...Kathe
  3. Mina is right. Start trying to make some of the changes now and the shock to your body and psyche will not be as, well, shocking. I can almost guarantee you there will be no regrets. I was 63 when I found the sleeve. I am so glad you will be turning your life around while you are young. God bless and happy trails to you...Kathe
  4. You are halfway there! You look so good now. At 200 you should look F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S baby!! K

    C-Diff

C diff happens when you take antibiotics that kill off the natural bacteria in your gut and the C diff bacteria flourishes. If you have had it that long, you are probably severely dehydrated and feeling miserable. Your doctor should be able to treat you to get this stopped. Any doctor that diagnosed you with C diff should have treated you and warned you about the possibility of contagion. Please get your diarrhea checked out again. All you need is a simple stool test. Good luck. Kathe
  6. I love this post!! When someone actually has the nerve to ask me what I did to lose over 100 pounds, I tell them I went to Mexico and had my stomach cut out. The shock value is so worth it!!!! If they want to continue the conversation, then I explain the surgery to them. I have had only one person that appeared to be judgmental, and I can't even remember who it was. I told everyone that matters to me (family and coworkers) what I was doing. My daughter had it done several months before I did, so they knew what to expect. I'm not ashamed of what I did to make myself healthier. My blood pressure is down, I am no longer diabetic, and I can buy clothes in a "regular" store. Health wise my life is much simpler now. Simply, I DON'T CARE WHAT PEOPLE THINK!!!! Best wishes on your journey...Kathe
  7. I can feel your betrayal. I once had a "friend" who cut me to the quick. We worked together, went through divorce together and socialized together for several years. We and our kids spent a lot of time with each other and I considered her my best friend. Then one day out of the blue she stopped returning my calls. When I finally got hold of her, she told me she has found someone else to run around with because I was boring. Boring for years? I was devastated to say the least. Oh, well. Needless to say this did nothing for my trust issues!!! I say your are much better off in the long run losing lots of pounds and one "friend". Cut your losses and move on. Good luck and welcome to your new life!!! Kathe
  8. I have had problems with vagal response since my surgery, but only when I overfill my sleeve and put pressure on it. I only recognized this because I am a registered nurse and was able to add up the cause-and-effect relationship of eating too much and then nearly passing out. Very scary the first time it happened, and I really try to avoid the problem. I have learned the triggers, but it still happens if I'm not very careful. Kathe
  9. Yes, there are quite a few of us with little pain and no problems, but I guess we don't post much because we have little pain and no problems. Welcome to the easy sleeve group. It only gets better...Kathe

    Why?

When we are morbidly obese (I hate that terminology), it does take a while for the "something different" to be obvious. We notice it more because we can feel the difference in our clothes and the way we feel, but it takes a little longer for the outside world to wake up. Just hang in there and pretty soon the obvious will be undeniable. Kathe

    Tomatoes - Realistically?

Tomatoes are acidic, but if you are using a PPI and can tolerate it, you should have little problem with them. As noted before, sometimes I have to spit out the skins if they don't go down. But that is not big deal. Tomatoes are just like candy to me, so I pop the little cherry tomatoes when they are available. Kathe

    Red Lobster

Red Lobster is my and my daughter's favorite place to eat out for self-treating. We share the build-your-own meal and choose three. We get stuffed flounder, shrimp scampi and either Walt's shrimp or baked salmon. We can both eat our fill there and each take enough home for another meal. So...basically for price of one meal, we get four out of it. We share Soup or salad and have a few bites of biscuit and we are totally satisfied. Good for us and good for our budgets. Can't beat that with a stick!! At two months out, you should be able add in the soft fish and shrimp, salmon too if you take small bites and chew it well. Red Lobster, here you come!!! Kathe
  13. Dill pickles will cut you appetite, if you like them. I dice the spears into small pieces (with the peel removed as I do not tolerate them well) and mix with cottage cheese. Sounds gross, but it is awesome. I sometimes also add black olives...only 5 calories each and good nutritionally. Yummy...I think I'll have some now. Kathe
  14. OH MY GOSH!!! sk8lady, this is my life exactly...sleeved 4-14-11, lost 64 lbs in 6 months and have been stuck less than one pound from onederland for 6 months!!! I thought I was the only one in this boat, but now I have a cruise mate!! I know my problem. I am not working the sleeve like I did at first because I have lost 104 lbs from my highest weight, and at 64 years of age (today), I can really live the rest of my life like this. But I would also like to lose at least 20 more pounds. Lissa is right. We just need to start working the sleeve like we did at first. Stress is a big trigger for me, and my stress level over the last year has been off the charts with no hope of relief in the near future. Thank you so much for posting and letting me know I am not alone. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! Here's to us...Kathe

    Pickles?

I have eaten more dill pickles since being sleeved that ever before. I have always liked them, just never ate them. Now they taste so good. I eat them with cottage cheese...I know, sounds gross, but it is delicious, especially with black olives and grape tomatoes. Just test your sleeve and see how you do. Good luck...Kathe
  16. Pinky, what you are probably feeling is a vagal response to overfilling your sleeve. The vagus nerve has a lot to do with gastric emptying and motility. I have had the same problem since being sleeved 14 months ago. When I overfill or eat too fast, it puts pressure on the nerve and I get really lightedheaded and feel like passing out. Everything starts to go dark like I am going to pass out. One of the first signs for me is my hearing starts to decrease, especially in my left ear. If you really want to know about it, google "vagus nerve". Otherwise, I suggest you just concentrate on chewing well and eating slowly. I sometimes still forget, but the consequences are never worth it. You are lucky if it goes on down...I always have to upchuck it to end the problem. Good luck, Kathe

    Getting Hickups

When I get the hiccups, it is a sure sign that I have eaten too fast, not chewed well enough and it will all be coming right back up soon. Never have done that with potatoes though. The are sliders for me. This usually happens when I don't pay attention when I am eating, like working through lunch or watching TV. I always have to pay attention to how fast I am eating. Good luck, Kathe

    Tea?

I must also have my morning tea (2 decaf tea bags in a 16 oz mug). Can't wait for that first delicious sip. I switched to decaf just because I don't want to take in the caffeine. I use the sucralose sweetener (3 packets) and about 1/2 tsp of Splenda blend. I like my tea really sweet. If it has an aftertaste, I must have adapted to it, because I just can't bear to cut out my morning tea. I hope you find a palatable mix for yourself. As for the Pasta, all pasta has a bunch of carbs in it. I have found other low carb subs. Also, I just eat meatballs without pasta, sometimes with a few black olives, and it wonderful. Also you need to check out the lasagna cupcake recipe on this forum. You make it with wonton wrappers and it is as good or better than any carby lasagna I have eaten. You will find, I hope, that we somehow adjust to not having all the junk we used to eat and don't even miss it. Sometimes I see people eating stuff that I used to wolf down and wonder how in the world can they do that? Good luck, Kathe
  19. I am so glad to hear that someone else has stalled for months. I have been stalled about that long, but everyone comments on how I am still "losing weight" even though the scales don't show it. I am not to my goal yet, but I can live the rest of my life like this without any problem...so much better than 100 pounds ago. Kathe

    Low Blood Pressure

Do you take blood pressure medicine. Sometimes weight loss will directly affect your BP. If you are on meds, you need to see the MD who prescribed them. They may need to be adjusted. If no BP meds, you could be getting dehydrated. Low volume means low BP and your heart rate may go up. If it continues, you should see your doc or go to the ER...K
  21. At last, a thread full of people that had an easy time post op. I hardly knew I had anything done. Good luck to all. Lisa, don't give up. You will be glad you carried through with it, I feel certain. Kathe
  22. I hardly knew I had surgery. Just make sure you have plenty of clears and water with you. Kathe

    NSV shout outs

Great NSV. I use 20 lb containers of cat litter two at a time. When I was carrying them in from the car one day, I thought "I have lost 2-1/2 times the weight of this litter." I don't even know how I used to walk. No wonder my knees and ankles are trashed. Keep up the good work!!! Kathe
