    Finally!

Congratulations! One day at a time, one pound at a time. Just keep sipping!
  2. Low carb worked best for me. I tried to keep them under 20g a day and Protein above 90g. Try switching around your protein / carb intake and see how it goes.

How The Heck Do You Guys Do It?!

Group fitness! I found a weight based group fitness class that I really enjoy. We all help to motivate each other during and out of class. Accountability partners are also very important. I know that if I don't show up that I will not only be letting myself down but my partner and group. It has worked for me, just find what works for you.
  4. As a single young guy that has never been in a relationship longer then a year, I really have no business commenting but I'm going to anyway . All I wanted to say is that him trying to sabotage you could be his own insecurity. He may be afraid that when you gain more self confidence as the weight comes off that you may be unwilling to deal with his controlling demeanor. The divorce statistic of people after weight loss is high for a reason, we are a lot less willing to put up with BS!

    Protein

@@Saramarie1023, not sure how far out you are but a stall here and there is nothing to really worry about. @@crystaljeanine mentioned Premier Protein which is how I made it through life after surgery. I recommend it to everyone! My suggestion is to focus on Water before Protein, dehydration can affect so many things with the body.

    Protien Drinks/powder

Follow your doctors recommendations as far as when to introduce "animal protein" back in! My favorite is Premier Protein. You can find it at most Sam's Clubs & Walmarts. It is a RTD that has a nice texture. Texture & taste was a big hurdle for me and the powders not working. I would just suggest not spending a huge amount of money on one type of protein before trying.
  7. @@cybergirl5710, good luck! Hope everything goes well.
  8. Is it possible to change the number of posts that are displayed in a thread page? The new site loads a little slower for me and reading through a thread that has 20+ pages can take a bit of time. I couldn't find an option to change how many posts make up a page. Thanks!
  9. Ah, disregard. I just read that IPS removed it as a feature.

    Guy's any regrets?

No regrets! Best decision of my life! I'm glad I decided to do it early in life and not wait.

    Anyone from Atlanta?

Thank you! The best part is that I feel amazing! GL on your upcoming date, I know it feels so far away but it will be here before you know it. Take this time to learn from others and look forward to the journey ahead.

    Anyone from Atlanta?

Fellow ATLer here. I'm 16 months post-op but would be glad to provide any insight.
  13. Lea likes to get up around 6:15. Looks like I am gonna learn to be an early riser. She better be glad she is cute! #newpuppyproblems

  14. Sue, I had a massive tonsilloliths (tonsil stone) for about a week after surgery that took awhile to work its way out. I'm not sure if it was from intubation or that I was just very inactive for the first week so it didn't work its way out normally. I can't say that a burning sensation came with it more like a popcorn flake stuck in the back of my throat. Hope you find the solution soon!

    Raw Vegetables

Everyone is different on what they can handle at what times. My method was just trial and error. If it didn't sit well I wouldn't try it again for a few weeks. Pork didn't start sitting well with me until 6 months postop but steak was an instant hit!

    new here :)

Welcome to the community! These forums are a great source of knowledge and support for your upcoming journey. The search tool at the top right is very powerful! The next 6 months are going to fly by. I was actually thankful for that time as it allowed me to get all of my preop work done and learn as much as I could. Good luck!

    Old habits ....

This is just one of the old habits that you will learn to break. It is amazing on this journey just how many "old habits" I have / had!

    no weight loss!

Water retention is very normal post-op as they pump you full of IV liquids. Give it some time. Just keep telling yourself, "water & protein". The lbs will be flying off before you know it! Some say to stay off the scale but I can't give advice that I wouldn't follow.
  19. Hope your surgery went well!

    Stopping Pain Meds?

Everyone is different is exactly right. I never took any of the pain meds after I came off the pain pump. Pain was never an issue for me. Now nausea on the other hand ...

    Grouper...

I really enjoy grouper but tilapia is my go to. Are you buying it frozen and prepackaged? You may try finding it fresh and get better results. I'm not a huge "fishy" fan but love fish! How about crab legs? Great protein and low calorie!
  24. It depends on where I'm going but I tend to order mostly good proteins without any sides or drink. As long as you focus on a lean protein first and fill up on it you will be fine. Avoid all the container foods (wraps, bread, buns). Order a chicken salad and eat just the chicken with no dressing (or lite). Avoid fried go for grilled. I have found that I can get a high protein meal from almost anywhere as long as you look for it.
