  1. You look FANTASTIC!!! Congratultions!

  3. Rootman, when are you going to post pics? Nikkey - congrats on the shoe thing. I know you'll be getting all the sexy shoes now!
  4. That's the problem I had with the isopure. Nothing you do to it takes that horrible taste away. Even the Speical K Protein Water is like for me. I started mixing it with an ounce of Calypso strawberry Lemonade. It's just enough real sugar and lemonade to drown out the taste of the whey. Hopefully I can mix the nectar with something to make it go down a little easier.
  5. Just called Nectar and the sample variety packs have gone up to $13.00 (no shipping and handling), and it's not available through the website. You can only get it if you've never ordered it before.
  6. Hey. I'm getting tired of my chocolate flavored Protein and I'm looking for something different. Just wondered if anyone ever tried the nectar brand before. If so, is it any good. Is it like that Isopure crap? If you have any experience with it, please let me know.
  7. That is FANTASTIC!!!! Screw the scale! Rock that sleeve!
  8. I just tried the Atkins Day Break Apple Crisp Bar. OMG, that sucker was DELICIOUS!!! It's 130 calories, 10 grams of protein, and 17 total carbs, but 4 net carbs. It is uber yummy. A great little sweet apple cinnamon protein pick me up in between breakfast and lunch! So far K-mart is the only place I've seen this flavor. Plus there were coupons for Atkins protein bars in last Sunday's Baltimore Sun. $1.50 off any 2 boxes!
  9. I came to my number with my surgeon. Back in my sexy 20s I was about 130 pounds. I'm only 5'1" so I'm really supposed be around 109-120. But, I don't have the bone structure to be that small. I'm what they consider "big boned". So, 130-140 was a comfortable number that both my surgeon and I thought was good for me. I decided to split the middle and aim for 135. It gives me enough meat on my bones that I don't look sick and I'm still healthy. Talk to your doctor, they should be able to help! Good luck!
  10. Only lost two pounds this week. I've kicked up my workout and my eating has remained constant. Not sure what else to do. Oh well.... 11. I had two NSVs this weekend! The first happened yesterday. Yesterday me, my son, my girlfriend and her cousin played 2 on 2 basketball in the park. It was the WORST game in history because none of us are any good. But, for 45 minutes I ran around the court, guarded my son, ran after the ball, dribbled, shot and played. I wasn't winded or anything, my knees and back didn't hurt, either. In fact, I felt great during and afterward! I finally lost enough weight to be active and play with my son again! I had SOOOOOO much fun!!! I can't wait to do it again! For years I've been watching everyone around me run around and have fun, and I was finally able to join in and do it too. Then, I took a shower. When I got out, I wrapped a towel around me...it went all the way around! There were no gaps in the bottom of the towel where it doesn't close all the way! Thank you sleeve!
  12. I was the opposite. Warm drinks made me feel like I was going to throw up. Also, I noticed when I had indigestion ice cold beverages helped me belch. Don't know why, but they did. Maybe the spasms pushed the gas up.
  13. I had to learn to make the Protein tolerable. I stopped using the unflavored
  14. Not too many symptoms being off of it. I think the Xanax kept me from really feeling the effects of it. Plus I take Topamax at night, so that helped too. When you have surgery, they'll send you home with some sort of narcotic that'll make you sleep a lot. Plus the anti nausea meds make you sleepy too. I slept a lot, and felt like crap, generally (the first 3 weeks after surgery SUCK), so I didn't even notice feeling withdrawl symptoms. But, I think the Xanax helps keep your dopamine levels high enough that you don't go in the DTs from not being on the Pristiq. I have to have my Pristiq with food otherwise it makes me throw up, so I had to wait until I could have full liquids, so I could have it with a Protein shake. But, if you can take it without food, you can probably take it as soon as you can drink an ounce of Clear Liquids. It's small enough that it doesn't get stuck, and it doesn't need to be crushed.
  15. I've been on Pristiq for 3 years now. I was able to take it up until the day of surgery. While I was in the hospital, the switched me to Xanax, because it can be crushed. Then when I came home I was able to resume the Pristiq after a week when I was on full liquids. Hope this helps!
  16. I don't "eat" breakfast. I have a protein shake - unjury chocolate (20 grams), with 1 1/2 cups of 2% milk (12 grams) and 1 tablespoon of peanut butter (4 grams). My morning snack is some kind of lunch meat which is protein. Protein in my lunch. Afternoon snack is 1/2 Atkins protein bar. Protein at dinner. And I drink 1 Special K protein water a day. That gives me about 68 grams of protein a day.
  17. Hi, I'm Shannon. My surgeon was Dr. Peter Liao, at Greater Baltimore Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland. I love that hospital. That's where all my doctor's are. It's also where I had my son.
  18. Okay, I'm pretty new to this whole exercise thing and I don't know much about what you're supposed to aim for as for as a burn off. I just do it until I get really tired. Now, I don't know how accurate the calorie counters on exercise machines are, but in an average day I do about 20 minutes on the treadmill at work and about 30-45 minutes at home on my gazelle. Sometimes I mix it up and do the rowing machine at work, or the exercise bike, but that hurts my butt (that's another story for another time). Anyway, today for example, the two of those things combined said that I burned a total of 1,010 calories. I only ate 640 calories though. Does that mean I'm going to pass out and die? I'm still having a hard time getting up to the 800 calories my doctor wanted me to, but I figure 650 is way better than the 450 I was getting 3 weeks ago. But now when I put my figures in my tracking app, it's saying that I still have over 900 calories that I need for the day. Am I doing this right?
  19. I only have 1 incision (and I had no drain). It's 2 inches long, and goes right along the top of my navel. It's blends into the fold of my navel and my stretch marks hide it well. I'm so glad my doc did it that way. He's awesome! I thought they were all done with 1 incision. I just learned something new!
  20. Here's one for ya. Now, I didn't tell my boss that I had weight loss surgery. She just knows that I had an ulcer removed and that as a result I'm having a hard time digesting food and I'm on a special diet. She's an old woman and usually makes these back handed comments to me. Today, she says, "You're losing weight, did you notice that?" I said, yes. As if I didn't. "Are you happy about it?" I said yes. Then she says, "Are you going to keep it up?" I told her I hope so. In fact, I take 20 minutes of my lunch and go to the weight room and work out. She says, "Good. I'm glad you're making a change, because you needed to do something." I was floored. What right does she have to tell me that I needed to do anything?!?!? My weight has NEVER interfered with my job. I'm damn good at it. Don't insult me to try to give me a compliment. This is exactly why I didn't tell her or hardly anyone I was having surgery. She would have a field day!
