    African American Sleevers

    Hi everyone, I'm Shanny. I'm an AA from Baltimore and I'll be 35 in 2 weeks (OMG when did I get that old) . I was worrying about losing weight and changing my core shape. I used to be an hour glass before I became pear shaped about 15 years ago. But, no matter what I've always had a big butt and big hips. My girlfriend is really concerned about me losing my butt and hips. Right now she's loving it because she says that it's round and with my hips it's making a nice heart shape. Hopefully, I can keep it up. When I work out, I make sure I do a lot steppers, and treadmill, and elipitcle exercises to make sure my legs/butt are in good shape. Other than that, she's happy with the weight loss, but is afraid that I'm going to get too skinny. Almost every night she's feeling my ribs, or hips or legs likes she's checking for extra bones or something. She says it's just that she knew what I felt like before but now it's changing. I don't know, I think she's judging if it's too skinny. I keep telling her this is for me, not for you, so what you think is too skinny is not what I consider healthy. My boobs have gone from a DD to a D. I'm so happy about that! I've always been self-concious about my big chest. I'm hoping to go down to a C. I did notice in the beginning that my hair kept breaking off really badly. But, after I was able to ingest more and keep my Protein up to 70-90 grams a day I haven't had that problem. I did have to get my hair cut to even it out, but it's not been breaking off since then. I've also noticed that my skin is much clearer! I haven't had any dark Patches of eczema. Maybe because the fat is leaving so the skin's not rubbing together creating the moist spots anymore. I don't know. Whatever it is, I'm happy for it!

    Guilt??? Who else....

    I don't feel guilty at all! In fact, I went to Cheesecake Factory yesterday. I had about, 3 oz of chicken fetucinni and 2 spoonfuls of red velvet cheesecake, and I was completely satisfied! The rest of the day I had my protein shakes, protein bars, water, and worked out. I allowed myself that little treat, nd that little bit of food filled me up and made my tastebuds happy at the same time. I tracked everything I ate in My Fitness Pal, and still ended up under my calorie goal.

  6. Yesterday made 7 weeks to the day that I had my surgery. Today, I weighed myself and I have lost a total of 56 pounds. That means I am exactly 56 pounds away from my long term goal! 7 weeks and I'm already 1/2 way there! This first 56 pounds was no picnic, but it was worth it. I know the next 56 pounds will be, too. Whoot!!!!

    Congrats to you! I hope the last pounds are easier than the first. I swear the first 1/2 was mostly by trial and error!

    I think the head hunger and no longer being able to eat some of my favorite foods have been the hardest thing. My head doesn't always want to listen to what my stomach is telling it.

  10. I was a chronic drinker with meals too. Mainly because I needed to belch. After 7 weeks, I've finally learned not to drink with my meals. It sounds impossible, but it is doable. After awhile, you don't really think about it.

  14. Sleepy and don't want to work out. But, I'm going to do my 30 minutes on the treadmill even if I'm 1/2 asleep doing it!

  15. Tried to eat a fried chicken drummette last night. Didn't go so well. My sleeve does not like the consistency of fried chicken apparently. I'm heart broken because it's my favorite food. Maybe that's a good thing, huh? That's how I got in this mess in the first place!

  17. Did 20 minutes of Tae Bo last night. Billy Blanks is trying to kill me. Every muscle in my body hurts! I hate Billy Blanks and his stupid workout!

  18. That's the problem I had with the isopure. Nothing you do to it takes that horrible taste away. Even the Speical K Protein Water is like for me. I started mixing it with an ounce of Calypso strawberry Lemonade. It's just enough real sugar and lemonade to drown out the taste of the whey. Hopefully I can mix the nectar with something to make it go down a little easier.

  20. I cheated on my doctor's plan and ate tomato sauce last night. I'm not supposed to have it for 4 months, but I had it at 6 weeks. I didn't get sick and it was WONDERFUL! Take that!

  22. I need more structure with eating on the weekends. I never make my calorie goals and forget to eat most of the time. During the work week I have a schedule during the weekend everything is out of whack.

    Two NSV!

    I had two NSVs this weekend! The first happened yesterday. Yesterday me, my son, my girlfriend and her cousin played 2 on 2 basketball in the park. It was the WORST game in history because none of us are any good. But, for 45 minutes I ran around the court, guarded my son, ran after the ball, dribbled, shot and played. I wasn't winded or anything, my knees and back didn't hurt, either. In fact, I felt great during and afterward! I finally lost enough weight to be active and play with my son again! I had SOOOOOO much fun!!! I can't wait to do it again! For years I've been watching everyone around me run around and have fun, and I was finally able to join in and do it too. Then, I took a shower. When I got out, I wrapped a towel around me...it went all the way around! There were no gaps in the bottom of the towel where it doesn't close all the way! Thank you sleeve!
  24. I came to my number with my surgeon. Back in my sexy 20s I was about 130 pounds. I'm only 5'1" so I'm really supposed be around 109-120. But, I don't have the bone structure to be that small. I'm what they consider "big boned". So, 130-140 was a comfortable number that both my surgeon and I thought was good for me. I decided to split the middle and aim for 135. It gives me enough meat on my bones that I don't look sick and I'm still healthy. Talk to your doctor, they should be able to help! Good luck!
  25. Proud of myself...went to Golden Coral this morning with my sweetie and my son. I drank my protein shake, while EVERYONE else around me ate all they could eat. I didn't even want to eat that food. Actually, smelling all that food turned me off!
