  1. My Dr. too was concerned about possible scar tissue due to 2 previous surgeries. I had to sign a form to possibly open for the surgery but all went fine. Good luck you will do fine!
  2. Hi! You will do great with the sleeve. In my Dr's notes men were allowed 70-80 g of Protein and women 60 and 30 to 60 carbs per day. I too think that 21 g of carbs is high but as long as you are counting them and don't go over it should work, but that would limit your carb drastically in your other foods. The gas was not bad for me but I was up and walking 2hrs after surgery. I did buy the gas-x strips but never used them. Good luck and keep us posted on how things are going!
  3. The more you loose before the further down the road you will be. Also my Dr. said it helped to reduce your liver size so it was easier to get to your stomach and reduce the risk of a nick to the liver during surgery.

  8. I was fine traveling 3 weeks after my surgery. You need to really plan how you will handle your foods. Will you have a fridge and a microwave in your room? Also rest when you can, you will get tired a more quickly.
  9. I was on liquids for a month! Now a month of pureed food, then soft solids.
  10. I take OTC Generic Prilosec and it works just fine for me.
  11. 15. Hi all, Just wanted to update any one who is interested. I am 12 days out of surgery today and doing great! I have lost a total of 26 lbs! I lost 11 on the pre-op diet and have lost 15 since my surgery. Still on full liquids I do feel hungry on occasion but nothing like I used to and a Protein drink takes care of it quite well. I go back to the Dr on Tuesday for my 2 week appt. hope he will be as pleased as I am! I am supposed to be getting 60 gr of protein, 30 gr of carbs, and 2 scoops of this powdered Vitamin supplement , but I am not there yet just getting 48 gr of protein, 18 carbs and 1 scoop of vitamin powder. I really hope he will let me move on to the vitamin pills at this appt. I've been walking on the treadmill too. I have worked up to 30 min at an easy pace. So I am excited for what the future holds! Pre-OP appt. 2/7/11 - 254 Surgery 2/22/11 - 243 Today 3/6/11 - 228 Total - 26

  19. Okay Here we go! I am having my surgery on Tuesday the 22 here in Knoxville, TN. So the nerves have started. I feel very well informed, thanks to the people at my Dr.'s office and to the people on this forum. Still a little nervous. I have only lost 8lbs on the pre-op diet and I am hoping for 10 by Tuesday. I blew it today though I think partly nerves and the other is just that my will-power stinks! I have been exercising every other day and doing my deep breathing exercises too. Really I am excited too, Tuesday can't get here fast enough the waiting is is taking it's toll. LOL Dr. Stephen Boyce, Parkwest Hospital Pre-op 2/7/11 - 254 Surgery 2/22/11 - (hope) 244
