  1. It wasnt so bad for me (I am now 10 weeks out post op) but I notice that my taste buds seem to have changed as also my nose. Some smells really bother me while others that used to dont... Not sure what to make of it. How can cutting out a part of your stomach bring about so many changes that seem totally unrelated? Anyone got an answer from their doc? Mine just says it can happen but cant seem to explain it.....

Can you start chicken now? I am especially fond of grilled chicken... it seems to help with both the texture and smell....

I am almost 4 weeks out and just started mushies. Not doing so well though. I have a huge taste and texture issue, so I haven't been able to tolerate Protein shakes. I was so looking forward to starting pureed foods so I could try and get more Protein in. But, to my dismay, it's like I have hyper sensitivity to smell and taste these days...instant nausea. Anyone else experiencing? If so, how long did it last?

  2. Dissolvable. I don't think it's uncommon for the very ends that are right at the top of the skin to not dissolve. One of my cats had abdominal surgery and I had to pull out about half an inch out of her tummy a few weeks later, as well.

God bless you and thanks for this thread... I am traveling in India 2 weeks post-op (12 days to be absolutely exact sleeved 30th Nov in Mumbai). It is my centremost stitch which is kinda high up on my tummy & sticks up too. The long periods of sitting - waiting at airport, aircrafts, etc. through the day...... The band of my bra probably rubbed against it through all the travel. Now it is a bit raised and red with a yellowish dot in the centre. Hurts when I touch it. I am a bit scared. I hope this is not serious....

My posture is probably to blame as well. I might succumb and visit the doc tomorrow.

Sorry if that was TMI back there. But reading about all your experiences will help me sleep tonight. Thanks and God bless.

  3. Not everyone who may be supportive after surgery; is that way before.

Basically when it comes to surgery and you have 90 lbs to lose, people will always tell you to do it "naturally" with diet and exercise. What about the bad knees that dont allow exercise beyond a certain point and then there is age... esp. in case of women of my age 49 yrs...

The weight just does not budge. And rather than eating all sorts of 'hoodia', chemicals and drugs and still not lose, I felt vsg was the best and cleanest things I could do.

Maybe 90 lbs does not seem like a lot when you have double that to lose, but as anyone who has battled weight can tell you it gets tougher as you go down.

So after that rather long venting session back there... I think I will decide whom I should tell..
