well, you remember things you were called back in grade school, per you. you said those things hurt you....obviously, they had some sort of impact on you. again, there are ways of sticking up for yourself without calling someone a horrible name!

That theory is absolutely ridiculous. Picking up a pencil for someone in no way compares to picking cotton in 100 degree heat for 18 hours a stretch with no pay. Unless you have some way of communicating with the dead, you have no idea what occurred back before the civil war with your relatives. The journals you speak of were written by them, correct? I think that's probably kind of one-sided, don't you? Their idea of physical abuse may be quite different from ours today. I don't even think mental abuse was even addressed one way or the other back then.

I would not want my child to behave in this manner (I'm talking my own child) and that's always a good measuring stick for my own behavior. Sticking up for yourself is one thing. Calling someone a name because they called you one both feeds the flame so the situation could become escalated in a real bad way and is frightfully immature to say the very least.

Again, like I previously said, just because we use words sometimes we'd rather not have our kids use (therefore, we shouldn't..though most of us do..myself included)...does not make it okay to say another word that we shouldn't. And even worse, the word is a personal affront and it is offensive......why is it okay for them to use the word themselves? I think Joyously should answer this. I grew up poor in a dilapidated old house. I sure as hell don't want to be called white trash. I have been before and it STILL hurts and it was in high school thirty+ years ago. The question I have for you, Jodi, is why in the world would you want to take the chance that people are hurt by this word? Why not just not use it to be on the safe side? Do you want your baby to learn this word? Believe me, they repeat everything they hear, especially the words you tell them NOT to, and they will use it whenever and wherever they get a hankering to do so.

Joyously, this post of yours is one of the best ones I've seen on this board...ever. Why? Because it has really made me stop to think about this matter. First of all, I agree about if you can't say something in front of everyone, then it's not a good thing to say. In fact, I think a great deal of us have raised our kids to not do that...specifically, call people names. But what has really made me think from your message is twofold. Your last sentence to the above message grabbed me! Of course, you're not an African-American...!! I've never even thought about that. Thank you. Gone are the times I ever use those words. More importantly, however, is the fact that I realize we DO try to annoint black leaders and, indeed, yours is the only race in which that is done in the U.S. anyway. I can understand where you are coming from on this and I've never thought of it EITHER! That could definitely be perceived as belittlement. Regarding MLK: Well, he singlehandedly did more for the civil rights movement in this country then anyone before or since. He felt everyone was inherently good and lived by that until he died. My, if we could all do that wouldn't this world be a much, much better place. Regarding his infidelity...I won't even address it since I'm not perfect by any means and I sure don't want anyone judging me!!! Not in the least!!! I just can't stress enough how much I've become Enlightened on this gloomy, otherwise boring Saturday.

Pam! I'm SO excited that you posted. I read all your past messages and I was so hoping you'd come back. It seems like you were the one who got everyone together from the Reno area to post. That was before my time posting but your messages were truly inspirational because they were so honest as is this most recent one. So...Laurie says you're at capacity..I thought they could put up to 5cc's in. I think that's what she herself told me. Maybe I'm mistaken. Yes, I remember the liquid shake two weeks. My Lord....May I ask what exactly you're eating, if you don't mind? Are you eating Protein first, then veggies and then fruits (i.e. carbs)? The protein allegedly is supposed to fill us up! Sometimes it does for me and others it doesn't. That's what Vicki had told me to do. See, I gained weight and had to have my surgery postponed..that was before the liquid diet.. I was devastated!! Now..I have to really watch myself because I find myself reaching for food ALL the time! It sounds like you haven't gained any weight and that's a great thing, because, if you're like me you would have gained all your weight back in the past preband. I was banded two months after you and I was expecting to buy new clothes in Jan. 2008..well, it ain't gonna happen!! I have found too that if I get too down on myself about all this, I EAT MORE! If you are referring to my post, this was not anything personal against anybody on my part. Green wrote a message and I was agreeing with it. My accolade had nothing to do with Yum (frankly, I have no idea what you're even talking about in that regard) and I said nothing about anybody having to be a fan of anyone. I am speaking from personal experience; this is my opinion which I will state when I see fit. I have not posted and posted about anything or anybody. If I can say something positive in a situation that I am familiar with, I try to do that. I have not sparred on this board with anyone and nor do I intend to start. It's not my bag. It takes two to do that and I refuse to play.

I agree with Green. Additionally, Wasa will say she doesn't know something if she doesn't. She's also the very first to say to follow your doctor's direction above any other advice given, including hers.

Wasa definitely needs to keep in contact with us during her recovery period and I have a feeling that she'd rather do that than all the craft suggestions we've given her...........................just a hunch!!! :confused:

Thank YOU for being so open and honest. You said things in your original post that I'm sure a lot of us wished we could have. Somehow you have made it easier for me, and most probably others, to post my feelings. I'm so glad you went ahead and got your fill. I didn't get one when I was supposed to because I'd gained weight and all it did was make me less restricted for six more weeks! You know, I've never admitted that to anyone til now. That's because of you. That was a few months ago. I am also so glad your job situation worked out for ya. I know that when that part of your life is in turmoil, it can consume all your waking hours, it seems. Now you're back on track and so am I and I am soooooooooooooooo proud of us! Know that I, along with all the others, are here for you and we know you're here for us as well. Take care now in my "second" home!!! As you know, I just LOVE your country and your forum!
