  1. Surgery date changed from January 10th to 17th. College classes start back January 18th. It's officially time to freak out! #wls

  2. Weighed myself at home, and then at the surgeon's office and they were the same. Yay! Now I know that every pound I lose is spot on.

  3. I was a carb addict, never thought a vegetable could replace spaghetti. But, I'm loving spaghetti squash with a little marinara & parmesan!

  4. I can't believe how much a protein shake fills me up now! A month ago, I just wanted to eat, eat, eat. 23 days til surgery! #wls

  5. I'm in ketosis and really need to get rid of this rancid breath! #wls

  6. I put french fries on my plate, but didn't eat them! Instead, I had steak and grilled veggies. Now I'm stuffed. Protein first! #wls

  7. NSV - took dh & daughter to McDonalds for lunch. Instead, I ate a low-cal protein bar I picked up at Target. #wls

  8. I am doing pitiful at not drinking while eating. I have 4 weeks to master this before surgery! #wls

  9. I have not had 8 hours of sleep since I started fighting with this cpap. Bed @ 10, fight til 12 and up between 5-6. It's taking a toll.

  10. Tried to use a romaine lettuce leaf in place of a taco shell. Not too bad! #wls

    Shots

My husband fell off a roof last January and had several surgeries. He ended up taking Lovenox for about a month. The shots weren't bad at all and they were very easy to administer.

    Any January Sleevers?

I got my date the other day! It will be January 10, 2011. It still doesn't seem real. I feel like something will happen between now and then to prevent it from happening.
  13. NSV - I have noticed myself running up the stairs to my front porch! #wls

  14. CPAP clinic went a lot better than I expected. Got my pressure lowered from 24/20 to 16/12. MUCH better, and much more doable! #wls

  15. I have to go to the cpap clinic today. I'm very nervous about it because it has not been working well for me. I want to be done with it.

  16. I started my pre-op liquid protein diet on Friday. My instructions are 2 protein shakes a day plus one meal with a lean protein and a vegetable or salad. I've done my shakes with either water or skim-milk, and it doesn't matter to me which I use. I still get a little hungry between lunch and dinner. I haven't seen the nutritionist yet, but here's my concern. If I make my shakes with water, then between breakfast and lunch, I get 280 calories, leaving 720 calories for dinner. That's a lot! I was wondering if it was okay to have something like half of a tomato, hardboiled egg or cup of green beans with my shake for lunch or a midday snack to counteract the hunger and at least help the calories along. In the past, I have had absolutely no issues sticking to a 1200 calorie a day diet without even trying, so 1000 is not really that big of a deal. But I'm up at 6am and go to bed at 10:30, so there is a long time in that day where I'd love to have a small healthy snack. I really love veggies, especially squash, zucchini, broccoli and tomatoes.
  17. Just got my surgery date! January 10, 2011 #wls

  18. It was just a low battery. I've lost 16, but now I can't wait to see that number on the scale again! #wls

  19. I think for the next week, I'll stop tracking my food. I've found if I stick to the diet, I stay on track and I'm tired of obsessing. #wls

  20. Wonderful information, thank you!! Will you send me the pdf? lisa@momproject.org

    pre op appointment

Oh nevermind, I misread your post. I didn't see the testing part, I thought it was consultation. Good luck!

    pre op appointment

I blogged about my consultation: http://theamazingdisappearingme.blogspot.com/2010/10/consultation.html Basically, they took my weight, gave me an exam and went over insurance requirements. I already knew that I wanted the sleeve, so we didn't really go over options. They put me on what they call the Fast Track because I have minimal insurance requirements and no serious health issues. They gave me a list of things to do. I already knew some of them, so I got them done before I even had the appointment. I just had my PCP send me for the stress test and the sleep study. All I have left to do is the endoscopy, chest xray, labwork and psych eval. Hope that helps!

    Stress test question

I had a Nuclear Treadmill Stress Test. First, they set up an IV and put in some thallium to do a SPECT scan. Then they set up the treadmill test, hooked me up with an EKG and blood pressure cuff. Stage one was just a walking pace. Stage two was a slightly faster walking at an incline and stage three was more of a fast run/jog. I only made it just over a minute into stage three and I was done. My heart rate got to 168 and I was on the treadmill for about 4 minutes. The first part wasn't bad, but the second was tough. A minute before I stopped, they injected me with more thallium and took my blood pressure again. I was so out of breath and light headed and it took quite a while for my heart rate to come back down to 100. Then, they put me back in the SPECT scan to take more pictures. The whole thing took about 4 hours.
