  1. Hello all! My surgery was on Tuesday and I feel terrible. I don't want to dissuade anyone, but I really need advice. Did each of you experience burning at your port site? Were any of you terribly hungry? Or have really bad diarrhea? Any advice or words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, MaryumC:help:
  2. Wen, I'm feeling your pain! I've been doing the full-liquid pre-op diet since May1st. I still can't believe that I've been 10 days with chewing. :clap2: At work, I just keep working and pretend food doesn't exist. :faint: But it's hard, because at staff meetings folks love to bring food - honey buns, cookies, cake. This happens every Tuesday. And the first week, I was pretty angry. I didn't have food to hide my emotions and so they were just raw. I've also found myself anxious, I think I also used food to calm my anxiety. But I'm just taking it day by day, meal by meal. I just wish I could stop dreaming about food! 3. Hello All! Well, I'm officially two weeks from my surgery date and boy do I have questions. I've been trying to follow the pre-op diet to the letter, but it's hard. Any thoughts on how to make a liquid diet seem appealing for two weeks? Also, how should I deal with hunger - just more liquids? Is this where the protein shakes come in? I have a call in to my nutritionist, so hopefully she can clear this up. Here's my next question, for all of us emotional eaters - what did you do to fill in the gap? Today I found myself frustrated because I wanted to eat some naughty foods very bad. It didn't help that my job had staff meeting at lunch time and EVERYONE had food, plus the plate of cookies was going around. I was good: I resisted. I even came home and walked 2.5 miles. But I just keep thinking that maybe I need a new hobby, or a new preoccupation. I'm realizing that my life revolved around meals! Surgery Date: May 15th, 2007 333/316/180 Dr. Lin, Atlanta Georgia
  4. Hello all! Well, I got my surgery date today. May 15th! Only 3 weeks away and I'm so much more excited than I expected to be. How much time did each of you take off? And did you think it was enough or too much? MaryumC Self-Pay with Dr. Edward Lin, Emory Bariatric Center in Atlanta Today Dr. Lin said "well, you're almost at the end" and I told him "No, I'm Almost at the Beginning...."

  6. Hello all! I have been lurking on this page and reading for probably almost a month now. You all have been such an inspiration! I had just convinced myself that I was too fat to get lap-band when I found this thread and it's been the most helpful thing I've read so far. I have not been banded yet, I'm still doing my pre-op testing. On 4/16 I have my EGD test and then my Psych eval is 4/17. After that I meet with the surgeon again to schedule a surgery date. My weight is 323.5, down from 333 in August of 2006 when I went to my first seminar. I haven't been told to start a pre-op diet yet, they're waiting for the surgery date. Right now I'm just watching calories and staying under 1200, then the liquid fest starts. Any thoughts on how I should be preparing right now? Words of wisdom?
