    For struggling new bandsters

This is excellent information Michelle, is there some way we can make it a sticky? It gets kind of redundant answering the same questions over and over with each wave of new folks looking for help because they don't know yet how to look or where to find the info they need. Great Post!

    Cheese killing...

I personally got the whole jist of the cheese comments, they were intended to change the angry tone with humor... however, I get emails to threads after I post on them. I like to get them if they are in response to a thread I'm interested in. But the cheese ones have become like dreaded junk mail. (even though I giggled at GSue's brie farts comment). And yeah they do get in the way when trying to read a thread. I agree with the not posting if you want a thread to die. If people are still posting on it, it's their right. If it gets beyond attacking the idea to personal attacks then yes moderators should handle it. I do find myself disappointed to know that not all moderators handle these things as they should and get involved when they shouldn't, but I'll allow Alex to take care of those issues. Thankfully it's not my job.

    Xelerate? any reviews ?

I think 400 mg of caffeine is pretty high and would have me shakey. 400 3x per day would put me through the roof and kick in PVC's. I might try it 1x in the early afternoon to help with my night time snacking, but I definitely wouldnt take it all day everyday. If you try one and it doesn't bother you, then sure try another, if they say 3 and it works for you I guess it could be ok. I know my body, no way could I tolerate 1200 mg of caffeine a day, but that's me. When I was younger it didn't bother me as bad.

    Band friendly barbeque ideas?

I'm with Betty, I have to have the dark meat of the chicken, breast is too dry and sticks in my pouch if it's not dressed in some sauce. If you make kabobs using wooden skewers, make sure you soak them for a while in hot Water so they don't burn up. I marinate orange roughy in lite FF italian dressing, make a crust of italian bread crumbs, then cook it on the grill...on a grill tray for fish and veggies. I don't love fish, but I do LOVE this, as does the rest of my family. I smoke a whole turkey or turkey breast on the weber grill. Everyone loves that. I always cook my turkey outside on thanksgiving, even if it's snowing, it free's up my oven for other stuff, and the smell drives my neighbors crazy... in a good way... If I make veggie kabobs, I use chicken or shrimp for the meat, and also brush them with FF italian dressing, the smokey grill with the zesty dressing tastes awesome!
  7. I can still burp sometimes, but it mostly takes the longway out...
  8. Did someone mention Dr. 90210?? I'd let him do anything he wanted to me! Surgery wise... dirty minds... he IS awfully handsome though...

    I'm home from TJ

now is the time to take some long slow walks, whether outside or in a mall or giant store, the more you walk, the more that gas will dissipate rather than painfully gather in your shoulders. Rocking in a chair also helps somewhat. congratulations on your surgery, and good luck to you!

    Still kicking

I hear you Yoda, I was away most of the summer, and guess I must have missed an awful lot...thankfully. It's sad that whatever happened got so out of hand, or that so many people honestly are relieved that it's worked out this way... sometimes being in the dark is a good thing...

    Throwing in the towel

Excellent post NewSho, very well said. You have definitely hit the nail on the head. You will help a lot of people have a better understanding with that explanation.

    Bring back Lisa Bones....

Dody, I too found her delightful, and hate that she is banned but others who antagonized her are not. I'll miss her deeply thoughtful insight, her honest and heartfelt musings and most of all her warped sense of humor. Lisa is hilarious without effort. She's one of a kind, that girl, and greatly misunderstood by those who didn't take time to really get to know her. I'm glad I did.

    Peoria, IL Doctor

I don't know about peoria, only about Dr Rohrscheib in Decatur. I know he does the band and has recently placed it on a friend of mine. She's happy with him.

SOTC thread...Why NOT to post when your angry

I totally agree with the original post, to throw out an I'll pray for you in the heat of an argument seems to me to be a oneupmanship, as if the person who get's it in there first is somehow superior or has god on their side while they stand knee deep in the same $h!t pile. I also find it heinous when members jump into a verbal melee, throw out insults, heated opinions or other general negative energy, then soon after delete those posts leaving only the responding party so that the deleting member looks somehow "clean" as others can only see the reactions of the folks they were jumping on... some folks are just shady that way I guess.

    calling collage people

I carried a messenger bag for books, a binder notebook, a folder and spiral notebook for each class to keep my notes organized, Lots of pens and pencils, a highlighter, a calculator for math, science, and chemistry, a hole puncher for handouts and syllabus's, and used the voice activated recorder for some lectures. Some instructors wont allow recorders, so ask ahead of time. If you plan to resell your books after class is over, don't mark in them. Try not to make the mistake of writing down everything your instructor says, if you try to write too much you won't listen as well. Ask to see examples of A+ papers so you can see the type of writings your instructor is looking for. Sit at the front so there's no distractions between you and the instructor, and ask, "exactly what will we need to know to pass the test?" (write that down) & write down everything they write on the board. These tactics had me on the presidents list (all A's) at my college semester after semester.

    Sick of this Crap-ll

I think children are the angels among us, if only we would listen to them more carefully... Thanks for sharing such a heart warming experience!
  20. I was banded in Mexico, my surgeon was trained in Mexico. I went because my insurance wouldn't help me get banded at home, and 2 years ago, I couldn't find anyone to do it for less than 20 grand and a year of other diet related medical hoops to jump through that my insurance wasn't going to cover. I researched for a long time, checked references, spoke with dozens of previous american patients that had used my surgeon, and felt very comfortable with my decision. I wish I had local aftercare, but I have to go to Tijuana for that. The cost isn't all that expensive for the flight, the hotel and the fill considering they use fluoro. The nearest doc to me who does fills won't see a midband let alone mexico patient, but charges $1000 for a fill with fluoro, plus you pay a fee to the hospital for the fluoro service. I can get to mexico and back in 2 days with a fill and fluoro for under $700 total. I am a very fortunate bandster with no complications to date. I'm a fairly smart cookie, do my homework and choose what I believe will best for myself based on my situation...Mexico for me was a smart choice. It may not be a better choice for someone else, everyone has to make their own decision based on their own personal cirmcumstances. For folks who have difficulty getting time off or away for trips below the border, health conditions that require more frequent follow up or insurance that covers lapband services really would be wise to consider a local surgeon. There are good and bad docs all over the globe. Research, ask questions, consider all your options, then choose what's best for you overall.

Lisa, it's great to see you back. This place isn't the same without your insight and wit! I unfortunately started the where are you thread that brought out the fangs of some of your less than supportive fans. gee-zus they were enough to make me consider deleting Lbt forever. No wonder you needed a break! I decided their problems are their problems, and I would be a better person and just let it go. I'm very happy to see you doing the same. I don't post on their threads, maybe they'll learn to respect the threads of others by example... it's a long shot, but I'm hopeful. Anyway, my apologies for starting the fire...
  22. I haven't been on much this summer, and have only in the past few days been catching up. I realized something' s been missing, and it's Delarla! Where the heck has she gone? I loved reading her posts whether they were her musings or wls support. Anyone know why she's missing? I hope it's just a busy summer keeping her away. She's the only person on here who made me snort coffee.

Where the heck has Delarla gone?

I ask that folks stop with the "you" bits. I didn't start this thread to gather a bunch of petty comments. I simply inquired on the whereabouts of a support person whom I consider a dear, and a friend. I didn't ask if everyone agreed with my opinion, only where she might be. Argue somewhere else, I don't care for all the piss dripping out of my mail box, I don't piss in anyone elses. Thanks for your support.

I may have gall baldder troubles.

It's very common for the gall bladder to act up after weight loss, or pregnancy. Fatty and spicy foods seem to irritate it, or make it worse when infection, stones or sludge are present in the gb. I had mine out and was feeling up to speed in a few hours, back to normal in a couple of days. After the pain and suffering with the cholecystitis, and cholelithiasis (gb irritation, and gb stones) the removal was such a relief!
