  1. I am 6 weeks out and I'm discouraged--I'm just not losing even though I'm following the rules. I thought this was supposed to be "the honeymoon period" where we lost weight easily! I've only lost 21 lbs since surgery--that's six weeks! 150 lbs or more to go (the nutritionist arbitrarily set my goal at the very top of the normal range for my ht and wt). This week the scale stays the same, or goes up a pound (292.0to 293.6)

I feel like this isn't working.

Don't get discouraged - I have lost right at 80 pounds since 2/9/10 - I believe that in the first 6 weeks I lost around 28 pounds. It will come off. Just stay strong. GOOD LUCK

  2. i had my surgery on aug. 5th so almost a month ago. i had head-hunger and wanted solid foods really bad before i started eating them but i wasn't *actually* hungry. but about 2 weeks afterward i started having actual empty stomach hunger. i don't know if it is normal or not, and i was under the impression that the fundus, which is the part that gets removed, was where grehlin (sp?) is produced... therefore i thought i would never feel hunger again. but i do! i get that empty feeling usually within 2 hours after i eat a meal (which at this point is usually about 4-10 small bites, depending on what i'm eating.) and something funny... my stomach noises are LOUD now! haha! it's pretty funny... i'm glad i'm not an uptight person who hangs around with uptight people or i would be embarrassed about a hundred times a day! haha!

I think you may be right - the stomach acid may be what she is feeling. I haven't had stomach noise problems yet. I don't think it would bother me though.

  3. While I have great respect for people who decide to have weight loss surgery to lose 50 or so pounds, I have a hard time relating to them. My highest was 440 pounds and I began the VSG journey at 285 pounds. I'm looking at a 150 pound loss and would love to communicate with others in my category.

I had VSG on February 9, 2010 - and have 100 pounds to lose. I have lost 80 pounds so far and am feeling great. If you have any questions, please email me. I have never felt better in my life - Good Luck

  4. Ok guys so here is my deal, I was sleeved on August 27, 2010, I ended up spending two nights in the hospital due to pain control. I got out on Sunday after rough (and I mean rough) Monday and Tuesday I woke up Wednesday feeling like I could conquer the world. I decided to see how some food would go down so I made my nephew a frozen burrito and cut the tail end off; it went down fine. Later on I walked past a tray of fish sticks I ate two and they went down with little trouble too. I am worried that this this my make it a bit harder to me to lose weight, I know that the surgery is a tool but after reading over some of the stories that others post about being on a liquid diet for two or three weeks post op if I am hindering myself by finding out this information. Thanks for any and all responses.

It is a tool - you should not be eating those unhealthy foods. I had VSG 7 months ago - I just now started taking small bite of "Bad" foods - Maybe I am just to scared to regain the weight. I have lost 80 pounds in less than 7 months - but I really watch what I eat and I exercise at least 3 days a week. I know it is hard - but try to stay away from those types of foods. Good Luck,

  5. I had my sleeve done on 8/30/2010 and I am only a few days post-op and I am feeling hungry. Is this normal? I am on Clear Liquids of course, but was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

I am not talking about "head hunger", but actual stomach growling hunger.

    Thanks for all the help.

I am 7 months post surgery and just recently felt hunger pains - maybe it is a different feeling - After my surgery I did experience "different feeling" - Good Luck.
