  1. Thank you guys so much for the tips. I will try the ricotta/sauce thing.. in fact I have those ingredients here. I will try the tuna now too.. hopefully I'll be ready for that.

I WISH I liked cottage cheese. I absolutely hate it. My Protein powder is unjury, but I didn't know if there was another brand that has more Protein per scoop? 27g is pretty good. Unjury is 20g. Cheri... what brand do you use, and how is the taste?

I even froze milk into ice cubes, so I can get the added protein from milk ice cubes, instead of regular Water ice cubes.

My goal is 60g per day. Is that a good goal? How about you guys? If I try for 50g, do you think it would matter? lol.... I am terrified of my hair falling out!!!

  2. Hi Lab!! I love our thread titles! We had the Party is On... now we have Sizzling Sept.... LOVE IT! Thanks for taking charge!! :)

Well I am exactly 3 weeks post-op and still can't believe I did this. lol!

My ticker weight reflects my weight loss since 6/29/09 which was the day of my lapband surgery. Gained mostly all of my weight back by the time I had sleeve surgery. So I am 20lbs. down since sleeve surgery 3 weeks ago, but 22lbs. down since the beginning of this roller coaster. I know it's goofy, but it's important to me to look at it this way. Now... I have also been away all this weekend and not been on a scale in quite a few days. So maybe it's more!!! If my ticker changes tomorrow morning, you'll know it's because I got home and got on the scale. I hope it moved a little!

I am struggling to get fluids and Protein in and just posted in the other forum about how to get more Protein in a small amount and that tastes good! I made a shake for Breakfast today, but I couldn't finish it. I get full, and I get worried that I'm not taking in enough. Trying to deal with that and get through.

ALso on mushy soft foods, but honestly I'm afraid to try anything. Scrambled Egg works well for me too! It's sorta my safe staple! haha...

Hope we can stay consistent with checking in on Mondays here, because I need the support big time!

On a side note, this experience has changed my marriage for the better. My husband just seems more affectionate, attentive and caring. Wow. He was great during the week of surgery, then he kinda went back to his grumpy self, but not really... being different, hard to explain, but I notice it. I'm trying to make sure I tell him how much it means to me!! Maybe he's getting a mental picture of my hot bod a few months from now? hahaha..

    Have a good week!!

  3. I know it's discussed SO much.. but I need help with Protein. I made a nice chocolate shake today with powders? utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury and PB2 (powdered peanut butter) total of 41g of protein. Hoping to get it done for Breakfast and have most of my protein in for the day. But I can't finish it! I'm full and sick of it. I have the little shots, but they are tasting nasty to me anymore. Does anyone have a secret? During this liquid/mushy/hardly eating phase... I just want a small amount of something to drink that has a whole bunch of protein in it. How are you getting your protein in?? Help me out????

    THANKS!

  4. Definitely! Monday check-in sounds great to me. Tomorrow I'll be 3 weeks out. I'm still waiting to feel more comfortable. Still scared to try new foods. I'm away for the weekend w/ inlaws, so I definitely am not trying anything new PLUS my new chili for dinner Friday didn't work out okay. Anyone have some suggestions for me? I've successfully had scrambled egg, yogurt, lipton cup of Soup, cream of chicken soup and potatoes.. which are so so for me. I thought Chili was a good step to move to, but i guess I was wrong. Fruits? Has anyone had luck with peaches or pineapple or oranges.. small soft fruits? At 3 weeks out? Or is it too soon still and I'm pushing it?

  5. I really appreciate reading that list! I'm at the beginning too and have a lot more cons right now. But I have hope for the future!

Tiff, thanks for the recommendation on OTC meds. I might start taking something myself. Is it okay to self-medicate with an OTC thing? Or should I def. ask my surgeon. I know he would give me something. I don't have symptoms as bad as fleur. I was also curious about something you wrote about "tired of the false hunger." Are you saying the acid reflux makes you think you're hungry? Because it seems at night, after I've had my dinner (whatever that may be) I also feel hungry. But, when I go to have something else to eat, after two bites I feel bad. Could it be I'm having acid reflux and mistaking that for hunger? Interesting. Thanks, you're such a wealth of knowledge!

    Thanks original poster!

  6. LOL!!! Ahhhh you guys are funny....

Well, I felt better when I woke up this morning and took it real easy today. We're away at the shore for the weekend, (with inlaws) and I had to pack up all of my stuff and bring it. I did a Protein shake for Breakfast, lipton cup of Soup for lunch and a greek yogurt for dinner... lots of sipping in between. I feel pretty good when I have a good day. LOL!

My MIL offered me cake three times last night, and today on the beach she offered me a kitkat! She goes, ... can you eat this? I felt like saying.. um.. even if I COULD, you know I'm trying hard to lose weight, why are you offering me a kit kat?? lol.. no clue!

I'm not trying anything new until I'm home, so you'll have to wait it out juicymouse!

  7. diva! don't do the chili yet!!! About 2 hours after this, I was driving my daughter to dance class, and I got this awful feeling like my stomach hated me. And well thank goodness I had a tupperware bowl in the front of the car that I was supposed to be returning to a friend. I'll be buying a replacement for her I think. eek! I know I didn't eat too much or too fast, because the reaction was later when my stomach was obviously trying to digest it and couldn't. I'm going back to broth for the weekend. UGH!

  8. I'm about the same time out as you, and I def. don't feel I can eat a lot. For me... I feel nausea, and two times I threw up. I asked myself.. did i eat too much, too fast or the wrong thing? Every time it's a guessing game. My doc told me it would take a lot of time and a lot of trial and error and to just go easy. I make sure to measure out 1/4 cup of food only. I don't trust myself to just eat until I feel full, because I'm afraid it's too late. By the time I feel the too full feeling/nausea, I've already eaten too much. So I am just measuring it out and having it and being done.

    Hope that helps!

  9. I think two weeks AT LEAST. Try to get the two weeks. My doc told me 4 weeks off, no discussion. I also had a band removed and the sleeve done. I feel pretty good right now and think I might be able to return to work. But I'm really still exhausted from the surgery. Need sleep! I'm glad I have one more week off. I'm a teacher and need lots of energy for my day!

  10. aint that the truth! so far I've done well with scrambled egg, plus I add a slice of cheese. also done well with yogurt, cream of chicken Soup and now chili. didn't do great with oatmeal, though I may have eaten a bit too much. didn't do great with Peanut Butter but think it was way too soon to try THAT. DUMB!

can you imagine throwing away half of the wendy's chili container? no way we can eat the whole thing anymore!

  11. ok, its been long enough! lol! feel good! it tasted good, and i feel good. i feel satisfied on the 1/3cup. feel like I ate something normal! I love the wendy's chili too, and it's such a good choice to make when it comes to a "fast food" place.. i guess really the only choice. def. going to use this as one of my meals. good Protein too, and I used the lower sodium (i have high blood pressure) YUM!! Not sure if I could have had 1/2 cup. I may keep it at 1/3 for now. I don't feel hungry. SO weird. Analyzing every single little feeling in my tummy!!! LOL!

  12. Well I'm just under 3 weeks out.. got approved to move into stage 3.. the chunky purees or mushies or whatever the heck they're called. I tried some chili, just out of the can, the hormel... with Beans, low sodium. Dished out 1/3 cup and warmed it in the micro. and added about a TB of shredded cheese. Mmmm it was tasty! Now I'm waiting to see what my stomach says to me! lol! Please let it be good!!!! So far so good!

Has anyone tried any new foods? I swear, every new thing I try, I'm on pins and needles afterwards!! LOL! Will I feel good? Nauseous? Sick? Need pepcid? Be hungry? etc...
