I saw my doc today for another post-op appt. I told him about my pain, and he went to this spot just under my big incision and pressed and said, "does this hurt?" I said OW YES THERE!!! So then he smiled and said there is fishing line type stuff that he used inside there to suture.. I guess muscle or nerve or fat or whatever... and that's where a lot of people complain of pain for up to 6-8 weeks. So he said do you want more pain meds? I was like yeah sure, bring it on. lol.... I just will take one before bed. So he's not worried, and I feel better about it too.

Wonderful!!!!!!!

Like an eggplant parm, only not breading/frying up the eggplant! Yum... I am going to experiment with this, but not until after tomorrow when I most likely/hopefully get my acid reflux prescription!! Ugh!
Fleur, how are you doing in general since you started the meds for acid reflux? Like a totally new person? Did it help with that weird nausea? I am 99% sure the weird nausea feeling I have is from the acid reflux and heartburn I am having. I HOPE so much that it will stop after I get on a PPI.

I weighed in yesterday morning and was the same/maybe up a pound. I was so pissed, I didn't even register it! I like the comment... I didn't even eat 3lbs of food?!?! haha... That's what I was thinking.. how can I gain a pound on so few calories? I am trying to up my fluids and Protein as much as I possibly can, but damn it's hard!!!
Hang in there everyone!!

GOod luck for a quick recovery. I'm sure this was really scary for you!!! (((hugs)))) What happened that made you know? What kind of getting sick? I'm just curious. Hoping you're back to normal asap and feeling better!

This thread is cracking me up!
I haven't ventured out to a restaurant yet...

Hey everyone!! Good job on the successes!!! No root canal here for me, thank GOD! I can't take any more anxiety over any kind of procedures! lol....
Got weighed today and am exactly the same. How? I've puked most of what i've eaten!! I guess reading here.. it seems a lot of people have a stall around 3 or 4 weeks, so I won't get too upset.
Went back to work today and am tired!! Nice getting back into the routine though, and I had a much easier time getting my Water in! (Probably because I am talking all day and need to keep hydrated anyway for my throat!) I got my entire 64oz. pitcher of Water in!!! That is a first since surgery. I'm hoping getting my fluids will help start my weight loss again. Did fine eating too, though I'm afraid to try anything new, especially when I'm at work.
Have a good week everyone!

baked potato! that is my "safe" go-to food... I use a little smart balance

yum! I love eggplant!!!
Does red Tomato sauce/marinara bother you? I know you've been struggling with acid reflux, and now I am as well. Tomato sauce is a big no-no for acid reflux people. Do you find that since going on the meds, you are okay even with red sauce? I would love to be able to include red sauce in meals right now... desperate for anything!! lol... and I love eggplant!

I got these little 1 oz cups in the hospital and the first day or two poured my drinks into those. Sipped one of those an hour. Just sip, and if it feels weird in there, you sipped too big.
I wanted to say... as far as moving and blood clots. When you are sitting down or lying down, you can do point/flex with your feet and just move your feet around in general to keep the blood flowing. So even if you can't get up and walk, keep those feet moving.. point (like ballet) and flex (pull your toes back pointing towards the ceiling, as far as you can.)
Good luck!!! So sorry about what you went through, but you sound positive and like you're doing okay, despite the pain and tough recovery!!

I was sleeping better also, until the pain in my left side started bothering me. So lately that is keeping me up a bit. I also have woken up a few times in the middle of the night with bad acid reflux! Ugh! Going in search of the Tums at 3am. Asking about a prescription at my appt. this week for sure.
But yes.. I find that I could stay in bed much longer in the morning and don't want to get up. I'm very tired and need MORE sleep than I used to. In fact, I was just thinking how pissed I'm going to be when my alarm goes off tomorrow... since it's my first day back at work!!

Hey Kim!! So glad to see your post!!! You know my entire story, so I won't repeat... but I hear ya bout having trouble peeing. I was cathed TWICE in the hospital and that was horrible!!!
Glad the new pain meds are helping. ANd good luck wednesday.
I felt hungry a little at a week out, yes. And I tried to move around the house as much as I can. I felt a little restless at that point, so I was always moving from chair to chair and felt I had to be doing stuff. And I burp a lot now, yes, especially after I've taken too big a sip or something.
Right now, my complaint is nausea and acid reflux after I eat. I plan on asking for some acid reflux meds on Wed. Hopefully that will help me. It seems that 90% of the people on these boards have acid reflux issues. Mine has been waking me up in the middle of the night, burning my throat... and I've been going through Tums nonstop. Ugh. I just wish I could eat normally at this point. (normally for a sleeved person that is... not have any issues with certain foods and just need to keep portions small) I know I'll get there!!!
Do you feel like the worst is behind you?? At a week out I was SO glad it was all behind me and over. Those first few days were tough!! Hang in there!

I'm still playing the "be patient" game too MrHopeful.... I still feel nauseous after eating and think I need a PPI, know I need more fluids, etc.... It's frustrating, and I think wannalise is right on.. we DO expect to bounce back way too soon and think everything's honky dory. I keep trying to cut myself a break too, but damn it is hard. I go back to work tomorrow, so at least I'll have something to do and get it off my mind. This is a great thread, thanks everyone... and I plan on talking to my doc. on Wed. at my appt. about getting something for acid/nausea.. and I'm going to try the gatorade too and try to get my fluids in. Hang in there newbies!! We're not alone!
-
juicy... that is exactly what it's like. I am def. going to bring it up on wed. at my appt. Weird!! I admit, I'm glad to find someone with something similar though.. makes me feel like it's a normal thing. (if any of this IS normal!?!)
-
I just don't remember it hurting so much before.. maybe I had so many other hurting and aching areas I didn't notice?? lol....
-
Hey all...
I still have some significant aching and pain in my lower left stomach/abdomen area. This seems like it was my worst incision and certainly left a horrendous bruise that is still healing. My nutritionist told me that is the last area to heal and it's normal to still have pain. I guess they use the biggest retractor/tool in this incision?
Anyway.. what do you all think? Did you have pain in this area that seemed to linger this long (I'm almost 4 weeks out) It's mostly uncomfortable when I do too much bending down. I thought maybe because I'm starting to do more (overdid with laundry the other day) and not resting as much, maybe that's why I'm hurting a little more in that area.
Should I be worried that it's something else? Slow down and rest more? I'm going back to work Monday and kinda want to feel "normal."
Thanks!

I still have some pain on the left side.. so I'm taking it slow with lifting. I guess just go with how you feel?
-
count me in. I guess with dropping SO much the first week or two, our body needs to regulate or settle down or something!! I felt comforted that I read so much on here about it and am just trying to be patient. I think getting enough fluids in will make the difference, but that is a challenge for me.
-
I've seen SO many long-timers post that they can eat anything!!! I often wonder if that will be me or not. I'm still in mushie land myself.. lol!
-
Great link! Thank you!
I've read a lot of posts on here about people being in stalls or not losing. One thing that seems to be similar with them all is the very low calorie intake. Even myself.. I think that we think the less calories, the better loss. Not true. In fact, I am going to up my own caloric intake and see if I don't get myself back on the losing train. Also... Water, Water, water. I remember from my earliest teen days in weight watchers, the more you drink water, the better loss.
Good luck!
-
Thanks! I figured this as much. I am big on rushing this.. I keep wanting to think I am done healing and reading to tackle this weight loss full force, but I need to listen to my body. I'm obviously still healing and can feel that. So I will take it easy and chill out! lol!
Thanks again for sharing your endless knowledge!!!
-
Tiff, if we are sipping/drinking and feel a weird feeling in there, that means we are not fully healed right? And it's not just going in and straight out. Because I DO feel full and uncomfortable sometimes if I drink too fast or too much.
-
See how we do this to ourselves? First thing we think of is we are failing. Get out of that mindset and think positively!
I'm so glad to hear you had a cottage cheese. I know you were suffering big time with the nausea. I can't quite easily get all my fluids in yet, so I'm looking forward to that!!

I've been on BP medicine for a few years. My primary physician, who is wonderful and sees me every 3 months, said I could get as skinny as anything but still need it, since it is hereditary and runs in my family. Could be you're just predisposed to high BP.

Yay!! Good job wednesday weighers!!! I got on the scale today too and was down 2 pounds, so hopefully my stall is over too!
Saw my doc today. He gave me prevacid for acid reflux, so I'm starting that. He also talked about my left side pain, which I was jsut posting about in the post-surgery forum. Moved me onto stage 4, so regular foods for me, try one new food a day, take 30 minutes to eat, chew, chew, chew and go slowly, etc. I had some salmon tonight and some veggies, yum!! Did well with it and started my acid reflux meds, so hoping that will be gone. I also ate a normal lunch!! 2 oz. of deli turkey meat, 1 oz. of cheese, a few raspberries!! Yay I feel normal!!!
