  1. Immediately Post-Op (in the hospital) I could not pee. The anesthesia slowed my system down I guess, and I had to be straight-cathed twice in the hospital, just so I could pee. That pretty much sucked and wasn't expected.

I had some anxiety and anxiousness for a few days in the hospital and at home... like restless, walk from chair to chair to bed, time ticking on slowly, not knowing what to do with myself. That was weird and thankfully settled down by post-op day 5.

When I started to transition to pureed foods (from clear liquids) I had nausea and had trouble. Had to go back to Clear liquids for a day or so and start over. vanilla yogurt and scrambled eggs was the best "1st foods" that worked for me.

Not too bad, if these were my only complications. I'd say I had a pretty okay time, compared to other things I've read that could happen. Good luck to you!

  2. At one week out, I wasn't quite sleeping great yet. Now, two weeks out, I am doing much better. I also am making sure I take one of my pain pills at night before bed. They are good stuff, and I'm using them up! Even if they just help me sleep! Tonight's the last one.. lol...

I've been itching too. Between the different tape used for bandaging up and the incisions, and also the areas where I gave myself the blood thinner shots.. that's all itchy too. I just keep attributing the itching to good healing.

  3. I think it's acid reflux. One of the major signs for me was that constant clearing of the throat. It sounds a lot like it. I went on Nexium and it was so much better. (This was years ago actually) I was able to go off of my Nexium but am really trying to be careful now post-sleeve to make sure I don't need it again. Good luck.

  4. I have two small kids, so I def. needed the help of my husband just to keep them on track and the house running. But.. if it was just ME alone? I'd probably had been okay. By Day 5 post-op, I was home alone all day and liked it that way. (Noise bothered me!) For me it was the kids, for you it's the dogs. I'd say try to find a neighborhood kid to help out with the dogs. Even for a few days. And the long pooper scooper dish thing isn't such a bad idea!

  5. Help I am frightened to try to eat anything after being sleeved 17 days ago. After walking through the previous beloved aisles of my favorite grocery store ended up bringing home the requested eggs, cottage cheese, yogurt to be pureed. BUT, I can not bear the thought of putting my enemy food back into my stomach. What if I am unable stop eating (since I neither feel hunger nor fullness) and blow this beautiful VSG opportunity to gain back control? Help me.

Did this site change overnight?? I hope I'm replying!! LOL!

I am feeling similar, but I'm more frightened over how I might FEEL afterwards. I have been having a tough time moving on to purees. So I say just take it very slow. Scramble up one egg and eat it slowly. Or have one creamy yogurt and be done. Journal and write down and plan your day. I think you'll be okay!

  6. Never had the chilli at chilli's. But, yes my nutritionist rec. wendy's chilli too. I have been on their website and also have the stats down in my food journal. And for most of us and how we think... driving through the fast food drivethru and coming out with something healthy, lower calorie and full of protein.. it's just a good feeling, like hey I can go to Wendy's drive thru and make a good choice and feel good and be satisfied. Such a mind game, I know for me. I haven't tried it yet, only 2 weeks post-op tomorrow and barely able to handle a scrambled egg, yogurt or pudding! But I'm looking forward to it being one of my go to lunches soon enough!

  7. Am I a lunatic?? I just had the most amazing scrambled egg and feel GOOD after eating it!!! And I couldn't wait to come here and post about it! :lol0:

After some nausea the past few days after eating anything other than a clear liquid, I am feeling SO happy about being able to feel good after eating. I guess I really needed to hit the 2-week mark before moving on to purees. My doc let me go off Clear liquids a few days early, but I clearly (ha) wasn't ready. Taking it slow and excited to try new things now. BUT definitely yogurt and eggs.. those are my two starter foods. When moving off Clear Liquids, start with those two.

Yum! best scrambled egg I ever had in my life. HAHA!

  8. I got up and walked a few laps in the hospital and did that about 4x a day. At home, I just made sure I was walking around the house instead of just sitting or lying in bed all day. I think my official papers said get up and be ambulatory at least 3/4 times a day. Yes REST in between! I went from this chair to that chair to a nap in bed, to walking a bit into the kitchen, back to the recliner. You just have to do a mixture of things.

  9. I actually thought this post was a joke when I first read it.. like spam or something??!!

Georgie.. that is GREAT about the salads! Good for you! I don't think we all got fat eating salads, so it's great you can enjoy something like that that's healthy and you love.

Blackberry... I was/am totally into sweets!!!! If I could be like you, I would LOVE it! Here's hoping!

  10. Hi everyone, hope you're feeling well.

I wanted to share this great food journal I've been using. I have to re-order soon, and I had the idea to come post the link here for anyone interested.
