  1. I know!? It's so strange! I'm glad you both had success! That's how I felt with the egg.. I was SO excited to actually eat something, felt normal, felt good afterwards... had a good source of protein. I am ready to go on to a few different things, but I'm afraid of every new thing I try! LOL! I'm going to try some cheese with my egg tomorrow!! I miss cheese too!
  2. Hi! I had my lapband removed and got my sleeve on 9/20. I'm slowly moving ahead to purees, taking it one food type at at a time. So far cream of chicken soup, scrambled eggs, yogurt and pudding have been okay. I am down 22 lbs since the night before my surgery!!!

    Wait, why sugar free?

I have the emotional first aid kit too.. The WLS for dummies hardly has ANYTHING about the sleeve, just be prepared. I bought it before my lapband surgery. Funny, I'm using it more now though than after the stupid band. There are some shake recipes I want to try as well.. high Protein shakes. Gotta go up and grab that book from my nightstand and bring it down here!
  4. I just had cream of chicken soup, the healthy request kind, and I used a can of Water, not milk. I had last night, and that was my 2 week post-op mark. My surgeon recommended going to yogurt and eggs first, which I did, then I moved to the cream of chicken soup. Good luck!
  5. oh no!!! I'm sorry!!!! I was so nausea and even threw up, but the egg was SO good for me and cooperated with me. Weird how our stomachs are all so different. I couldn't handle mashed potatoes either. Feel better!!!

    Wait, why sugar free?

I'll have to check it out. I was reading before I fell asleep and saw it and thought of this post. I will doublecheck and post back!
  7. Hey JoeyD.. good luck with your journey. You're the first NJ person I've seen on these forums! I'm down near Philly in South Jersey. Do you have a surgery date?

    Wait, why sugar free?

I read last night in Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies that all sugars are frowned upon right after surgery, because they could be upsetting to the stomach and not good for healing. I have the crystal light popsicles, because they are sugar-free and only 15 calories.

    BM problems?

I contacted my nurse, and she said to find some MOM (milk of magnesia.) My problem... um.... solved itself the day after that email, so I never went out and got it.
  10. Immediately Post-Op (in the hospital) I could not pee. The anesthesia slowed my system down I guess, and I had to be straight-cathed twice in the hospital, just so I could pee. That pretty much sucked and wasn't expected. I had some anxiety and anxiousness for a few days in the hospital and at home... like restless, walk from chair to chair to bed, time ticking on slowly, not knowing what to do with myself. That was weird and thankfully settled down by post-op day 5. When I started to transition to pureed foods (from clear liquids) I had nausea and had trouble. Had to go back to Clear liquids for a day or so and start over. vanilla yogurt and scrambled eggs was the best "1st foods" that worked for me. Not too bad, if these were my only complications. I'd say I had a pretty okay time, compared to other things I've read that could happen. Good luck to you!
  11. I echo the others. Chin up! It will come off, you'll see!!

    Insomnia and Itchiness

At one week out, I wasn't quite sleeping great yet. Now, two weeks out, I am doing much better. I also am making sure I take one of my pain pills at night before bed. They are good stuff, and I'm using them up! Even if they just help me sleep! Tonight's the last one.. lol... I've been itching too. Between the different tape used for bandaging up and the incisions, and also the areas where I gave myself the blood thinner shots.. that's all itchy too. I just keep attributing the itching to good healing.
  13. I've heard that walking is the best thing for it. I think the gas is inside the body cavity, not the same as gas in our stomach/intestines!

    now there's a side-effect I didn't expect!!

Those pictures were totally worth my time on this forum tonight!!!!!!! LOL!!

    Constant mini slimes?

I think it's acid reflux. One of the major signs for me was that constant clearing of the throat. It sounds a lot like it. I went on Nexium and it was so much better. (This was years ago actually) I was able to go off of my Nexium but am really trying to be careful now post-sleeve to make sure I don't need it again. Good luck.
  16. I think you need to get some protein in you to get some pep in your step back. Try to find a clear protein shot. The drugstores have them. I diluted them in Crystal Light lemonade and sipped on that instead of water. Try it! And good luck!
  17. I have two small kids, so I def. needed the help of my husband just to keep them on track and the house running. But.. if it was just ME alone? I'd probably had been okay. By Day 5 post-op, I was home alone all day and liked it that way. (Noise bothered me!) For me it was the kids, for you it's the dogs. I'd say try to find a neighborhood kid to help out with the dogs. Even for a few days. And the long pooper scooper dish thing isn't such a bad idea!

    Pills POSTOP?

The pain pills I went home on were super tiny little pills, and I did fine on those. My two prescriptions are also pretty small, so I was okay. Vitamins I did chewables and now am doing gummies.

    SV SV SV SV!!!

Great post! And GOOD FOR YOU!! I have some things like that, but they're out of style now! HAHA!
  20. Did this site change overnight?? I hope I'm replying!! LOL! I am feeling similar, but I'm more frightened over how I might FEEL afterwards. I have been having a tough time moving on to purees. So I say just take it very slow. Scramble up one egg and eat it slowly. Or have one creamy yogurt and be done. Journal and write down and plan your day. I think you'll be okay!

    Wendy's chili

Never had the chilli at chilli's. But, yes my nutritionist rec. wendy's chilli too. I have been on their website and also have the stats down in my food journal. And for most of us and how we think... driving through the fast food drivethru and coming out with something healthy, lower calorie and full of protein.. it's just a good feeling, like hey I can go to Wendy's drive thru and make a good choice and feel good and be satisfied. Such a mind game, I know for me. I haven't tried it yet, only 2 weeks post-op tomorrow and barely able to handle a scrambled egg, yogurt or pudding! But I'm looking forward to it being one of my go to lunches soon enough!
  22. Congratulations!! Looking GOOD!
  23. Hi everyone, hope you're feeling well. I wanted to share this great food journal I've been using. I have to re-order soon, and I had the idea to come post the link here for anyone interested. 24. oh no!!! Glad all is okay now!
  25. Definitely not dropping off the pounds like I was. I figured adding food back would probably slow down that dramatic weight loss. I'm okay with it though. I know it's healthier to lose more slowly. Got on the scale today and was down another pound and thought maybe I'd wait until Wed. to get back on the scale. Trying hard not to get on it every day!!
