  1. aint that the truth! so far I've done well with scrambled egg, plus I add a slice of cheese. also done well with yogurt, cream of chicken Soup and now chili. didn't do great with oatmeal, though I may have eaten a bit too much. didn't do great with Peanut Butter but think it was way too soon to try THAT. DUMB! can you imagine throwing away half of the wendy's chili container? no way we can eat the whole thing anymore!
  2. ok, its been long enough! lol! feel good! it tasted good, and i feel good. i feel satisfied on the 1/3cup. feel like I ate something normal! I love the wendy's chili too, and it's such a good choice to make when it comes to a "fast food" place.. i guess really the only choice. def. going to use this as one of my meals. good protein too, and I used the lower sodium (i have high blood pressure) YUM!! Not sure if I could have had 1/2 cup. I may keep it at 1/3 for now. I don't feel hungry. SO weird. Analyzing every single little feeling in my tummy!!! LOL!

  4. that's right! you be were YOU want to be! and congratulations on your wonderful weight loss!
  5. Hey weird topic I know.. I wondered if there were any trained vocalists out there who use deep diaphragmatic breathing? Or musicians? I sang a funeral the other day and noticed while I was singing that my breathing is strange. Like I am imagining my diaphragm muscle (the singer's breathing muscle) that sits right on top of the stomach.. well I guess it's a little confused about what's going on in there and wondering where my stomach is? Or maybe that was where my port was sewn in and now that got ripped out. I don't know, I just felt that I couldn't get a real deep breath and carry my phrases over as long as before. Anyone know anything about the subject? lol... I kinda wanted to talk with someone about it! Hoping maybe my muscle will heal and get strength up again to help me out!!

    Leak? Any ideas?

ugh tiff that does not sound pleasant. you have been through quite a journey to get where you are! I thought I remembered that a rapid heartbeat is another sign. Have you checked to see what your heartrate is? I looked in my paperwork and it said to notify doc if heartrate is greater than 100 beats per minute. Good luck. Try to think positive!

I have so many weird aches and pains and twinges all over my stomach. Even down lower where I was giving myself the lovenox shots... there's an area that is always bothering me! I don't question it.. just deal with it. LOL!

    new weird feelings

have you been taking it every day since your surgery? I was getting it in my IV in the hospital, but I wasn't told to take it at home. When I felt I needed it, I took it, and I did feel more settled in my stomach, but in general I've sorta had an icky feeling. Maybe I should be taking it more regularly. Hmmm..... Yesterday when I saw my doc, I asked if it was okay to take pepcid or tums if I had an icky feeling stomach, and he said yes. But he said if I start having acid reflux symptoms that are more severe I have to tell him, because some people need to go on a regular prescription. (I guess like nexium or something similar) Hmmm... Good luck. Maybe give it a few days before you call him?
  9. I personally think a week is unrealistic. Maybe two weeks would be enough. My doctor told me 4 weeks, but I was a lapband removal/sleeve surgery. A friend who had a lapband was told 3 weeks off. I guess depending on what you do, you might be okay with 2. Good luck!
  10. I saw my doc today and got the okay to move onto Stage 3 foods.. but I'm SCARED! I'm still barely getting through stage 2. Trying to eat slowly, only measure out 1/4cup and pay attention to my stomach. I've never put so much thought into eating!!! I think I'm going to make a ticker!

    Wait, why sugar free?

Blackberry! I was the original person who mentioned reading.. it's in Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies on pg. 133. Basically it's a chapter on "Knowing what you can eat for the first few months." Toward the end of the chapter, it has a "warning" like a little sidenote: For at least the first one to two months after surgery, you should not have any of the following foods or beverages, because they can cause stomach irritation and discomfort. Then there is a bullet list with alcohol, caffeinated beverages, carbonated beverages, citrus juices, etc.... One of the bullets is "Sugar and other sugar sweeteners, including the following: dextrin, dextrose, high fructose corn syrup, fructose, fruit juice concentrate, glactose, lactose, maltose, mannitol, polyol, sorghum, sucrose, turbinado. I took this to mean what is says. Any kind of sugar can be irritable to the stomach as you're healing. Which I was saying to the original poster who wanted to know why sugar free? So underneath this list it says, "There is a big difference between "sugar-free" and "no sugar added." You may be very sensitive to any sweetness following surgery. "No sugar added" may sound harmless, but a "No-sugar added" food or drink may have a high natural sugar content, and it can make you nauseated. Proceed with caution." Then on the bottom of the page, there's a big block with different sugar substitutes, mentions aspartame, splenda, etc... I hope this helps!
  12. Thank you for your help! I saw my doc today and shared some of my same concerns, and he said the same.. this is normal, and I just have to take the time to get to know my new stomach. I have slowed down and tried to only measure out 1/4 cup of what I'm eating. Last night I made a packet of oatmeal. Of course I just made the entire thing, following instructions, etc. I sat down to eat and figured oh I'll just eat about 1/4 cup and stop when I feel full. Well of course, I didn't finish it all, but I'm sure i ended up eating more than 1/4 cup. And sure enough I felt sick and eventually barfed. ugh. So.. from now on, I will measure out ONLY that amount and bring it to my place. Today I have done okay, and yes I'm on the custardy, pudding, yogurt, soup type of stuff. I guess just got discouraged and wondered if I'd ever feel normal again. .... Maybe a few months from now, I'll be helping out a newbie!! Thanks again!!

    Having Trouble Eating

I saw my doc today and told him the same thing. He said every time I have a throwing up experience (it's happened twice so far) I'm going to ask myself.. did I eat too much, did I eat too fast, did I eat the wrong thing? He said just go back to clear liquid for a day and start over slowly adding in. He told me get baby plates, baby bowls and baby spoons and only measure out 1/4 cup. Today is my first day doing okay with eating and not having the dreaded nausea afterwards. I've done okay. For Protein, I had one of the healthy shot protein shots, mixed it in crystal light. And I also made a recipe from my bariatric coordinator, an eggnog shake. It wasn't wonderful, but I did manage to drink it. So I got my protein quote for today thank God. Have you researched different Proteins? A friend told me about nectar. I googled it and ordered some. I agree... hard to find something that you really WANT to drink. It's all so blah. But I think it's a serious part of our future. I have some more recipes to try, I could share if you'd like? There are some in the WLS for Dummies book too that have a lot of protein in them. Good luck. Every time I see one of your posts, I always agree and go... yeah I feel that way too. LOL!
  14. Looking at how WELL you have done.. wow 86 pounds! Even if you maintain your weight for one month, you are still so ahead of the game. Maybe take a look at your goals, set some new mini-goals, change things up a little? I just wanted to say I hope the scale starts moving for you again soon!! Hang in there, you are doing great!

did anyone google it? LOL! I have no clue!!
  17. Hi COops! Hope you're still feeling good. I have a question about eating... at 3 months out, are you pretty much eating normal food? And feeling okay after you eat it? I am still only 2 1/2 weeks out, and maybe this is expecting too much, but I'm nauseas and throw-uppy feeling after I eat. I'm not sure if I'm eating the wrong things or too much or what. Did you have some of that? And when did it start to go away? Your post was inspiring to read, thanks!!! Keep up the good work!

    PICS

GOod for you!! Hey I did the same thing. I also took pics of my bare belly through my first two weeks of recovery. Not sure I'll ever show those to anyone, but I wanted to have them to look back on!!
  19. ms lisa, not everyone has the same reactions. I read a lot on here before my surgery and saw mixed stories about post-op. I saw the ones that had horrible reactions, and I saw the ones that had an easy time. I just think we're all different, and it's good to know what everyone's been through.
  20. You are supposed to be eating every 3-4 hours. So it sounds to me that 1pm is right on target for you to eat something, since your 9am meal. You need to eat! IF your'e hungry, eat! Just eat what you're supposed to have.
  21. Tiffy maybe you can help me. You are SO good at explaining stuff! I have stage 1 Clear liquids, stage 2 purees and then stage 3 a little less pureed. That's how I wrote it down and what I got from my bariatric nurse and class. What is the difference between 2 and 3? Which one of those is considered "mushies?" Is it mushy food with no chunks on stage 2 and mushy food with some chunks on stage 3? Where does that ricotta bake recipe fall? Thanks! I'm spending time reading on here and getting more confused about these two stages. I know I'm sure anxious to get to Sunday/stage 2!!

    Meds After Surgery

I was given dillaudid, which was an awesome pain pill.. and very tiny. I swallowed it fine. I also was okay swallowing my two prescriptions, which are both small. I used a chewable vitamin. I'd say big pills... no. But if they're small.. you'll be okay.
  24. Am I a lunatic?? I just had the most amazing scrambled egg and feel GOOD after eating it!!! And I couldn't wait to come here and post about it! :lol0: After some nausea the past few days after eating anything other than a clear liquid, I am feeling SO happy about being able to feel good after eating. I guess I really needed to hit the 2-week mark before moving on to purees. My doc let me go off Clear liquids a few days early, but I clearly (ha) wasn't ready. Taking it slow and excited to try new things now. BUT definitely yogurt and eggs.. those are my two starter foods. When moving off clear liquids, start with those two. Yum! best scrambled egg I ever had in my life. HAHA!
