    Famished

I was the same. Extreeeeemely hungry. I was starving. But with the mushies, it got better. And with soft solids (where I'm now) it's slightly better. For some of us, hunger is not gone, not completely. You'll see, it gets much better and you're definitely not alone.

    12 Week Comparison Photos

Veeery inspirational! You both look great guys!! Congrats! I started off at the same weight as you (although with a much greater BMI) and I can only hope to have your success at 3 months! Keep up the good work! And keep smiling! It looks great on you!
  3. Last night I had some tuna with a bit of low fat mayo (2-3oz). The first couple of bites were good. When I say bites, I don't mean proper bites, I mean some food at the tip of the spoon. But then, I got bored. It is really annoying to spend so much time eating and then wait til you can drink and having to drink so much. Sometimes I'd rather drink water than eat anything. A few days ago we had a big family lunch and I was there eating my 2-3 oz of soft food and finished after everyone else had already finished (and they had actually eaten) while I had spend my time concentrating on eating slowwwwly and getting the signs from my stomach. I really hope it gets better...
  4. Hi guys! I guess I also belong in this group. I was sleeved on the 29th of July. I lost 24 pounds in the first week and 2 pounds after that. I guess I'm kinda stalling and I'm just hoping to achieve a 30-pound weightloss at the end of the first month (started off from a high BMI too). So far, things have been ok, kinda hard, but ok. The first week was awful, the Clear liquids and the pain...Things are better now, started walking about 40 mins a day, don't have too much pain (although I don't feel "normal" yet) and so far my stomach has tolerated well whatever I've tried to eat.
  5. I'm sorry you have to go through this. I do think that it's gonna sort itself out though. Try keeping things moist, the bites tiny and eating time long.
  6. Ouroborous, I really enjoy your posts. Ok, about this particular post. I liked the way you put things into perspective. It's actually a very holistic approach. Treat your physical needs first and the rest will follow, or at least the rest can follow. I think it's very important to keep that in mind at all times. I don't think that we realize that clearly how our body affects our emotional/mental wellbeing. I've struggled with depression/anxiety for many years and through Gestalt psychotherapy, which is a very holistic approach, I actually started being more connected to my body and my emotions, which overall has helped (too much thinking never did me any good after all). Now, only 2,5 weeks post op I'm finding out that I've somehow got the skills to handle the blue-ish days.
  7. It gets better if I stand up or lie down but it's still there.
  8. Hey. I'm 2 and a half weeks post op and most of the times I eat I get pain under my left ribcage. I don't think I'm eating fast, I put my spoon down between bites and I eat 4 oz of mushies in about 30 minutes. It's one of the areas that hurt from the beginning because I have some kind on an internal stitch there (surgeon said) but I noticed today that after eating there's pain. Have you got any ideas? Thanx, Kat
  9. Hey all! I'm new around here and very new with the sleeve too! I'm 10 days post op and I started mushy foods yesterday. I think that the size of my new stomach is 4 oz. I tried eating yoghurt, cottage cheese, poached egg, blended chicken Soup. The egg went down very easily, no sign of fullness (although I don't know what fullness is at this stage). I managed to eat approximately 3.5 oz of yoghurt and cottage cheese and I stopped because I felt something heavy on my chest for a second. And with the blended chicken soup I just stopped cuz I was worried that I was eating too much (didn't feel full or anything). So...I'm confused. I've been reading about people that can only have 4-6 teaspoons of mushies and they're full! And how does feeling full feels like? I haven't felt full after the op...Just a slight discomfort for a little bit (a couple of seconds). And I think I'm hungry, not starving, but hungry, and I don't know whether it's head hunger because I can't eat whatever I want or if it's true hunger for whatever reason. Please help me with figuring this out! Kat
  10. Have you ever lost this kind of weight in 3,5 weeks? How much have you got to lose? Larger people tend to lose more in the beginning.
  11. According to that link though... I must be a food addict.
  12. Before the sleeve, I rarely thought about food. I loved food and would eat until I was full whenever I ate (but never to the point of feeling ill). I didn't have huge binges or anything. I was eating out of stress, sure, and out of boredom and because of other reasons, but that was not everyday. I managed to reach 315 pounds without ever realising it (and I really think I was one of the unlucky ones, I never ate *that* much). But 10 days post op and I can't stop thinking about food, which is normal, I know, just because I can't have it. And I hope it goes away soon! I hate the feeling of not being able to have something...
  13. Thank you girls! I feel more "normal" now. Or actually, better than "normal"! I'm a fast healer! :lol0: My doc didn't say anything about measuring food. He said I should stop when I feel full. Actually today, I kinda felt full on my blended chicken and vegetable soup. I had a bit less than 6 oz of it in half an hour. And then I was expecting my head to say "it's ok, you don't need anymore" and I guess that could take a looong time (up to months). Is it "normal" to actually feel hungry every 2-3 hours? I'm having 5 meals a day which is no more than 500-600 calories a day.

    5% of 1%?

LOL, this thread seriously made me laugh! And God knows (ROFL) I needed that! I'm sleeved, atheist, feminist and gay In which % am I? :lol0:

    Hello Lovelies!!

Well people that are close to us tend to worry... My partner was very supportive about the op but then I broke up with her. I felt I needed to go into this alone (there were other issues as well obviously). I hope you're doing good and I hope your relationship is only strengthened by the hardships you might come across. Losing weight doesn't only change you, it also changes the people around you.

    Hungry after surgery

Merryx, do you actually stop feeling hungry though?? I'm still 9 days post op and 1st day on mushies and I had some yogurt and my stomach was full and I was still hungry.
  17. I know exactly what you mean! My stomach was full but I was hungry (or so I think). I'm with Lisalu on this one ("Of course the idea is to lose weight but it doesn't make sense not to eat until you are comfortably satisfied. I mean I can do that for a while but not for the rest of my life. If I could eat just what any diet proscribed with no regard to hunger, I wouldn't be obese.")

    Have 100+ lbs to loose?

I've got around 160 to lose! And although the doc says not to expect 100% weight loss, that's what I wanna do! I'm 9 days post op and actually I don't have 160 anymore, I've got 138!
  19. Hey! Just signed up too (after lurking around for a while). We have the same surgery date!
