    Here I go!

Well here I am 2 days post op! Feeling a little sore but each day hurts less and less. I should be discharged tomorrow. All and all it went smoothly. Nerves didn't hit me till they were wheeling me into the OR and telling me to get onto the surgery table...then all the nerves hit me at once like a ton of bricks. But the nurses and my surgeon were awesome and calmed me down before they knocked me out. The worst part was waking up from the anesthesia- had a breathing tube down my throat and a tube down my nose both of which caused me much discomfort but were removed pretty quickly post op. But overall feeling not to bad- the worst pain is from the gas they filled me up with. That gas pressure in my chest comes and goes in sharp pains. But will hopefully pass it all out soon.

    Here I go!

Thanks everyone! I'm here in the hospital. Had some tests today (EKG, some breathing lung test, electrical cardiogram (?)). Met with some different doctors. Tonight is sleep apnea test and tomorrow morning starts the real adventure! Ready to just get this going! Good luck to the other sleevers this week!!
  3. I too am being sleeved the 21st! Good luck and best wishes for a great and speedy recovery! See you on the losers bench soon!! :lol0:

    A million last meals

I'm glad this is just not me. I'm not eating out control (I don't think). But I am not being as good as I should be a week before operation (tho I don't have a pre-op diet). But I feel like I'm a farewell to food tour with my stomach. One last hurrah! Trying to get my fav things I know I won't be able to have post op. Trying to be good during the week but on Saturday I kind of let it go. I had a burger and fries for lunch yesterday felt super full after then felt like crap about myself for having eaten it. A week from right now and I will be sleeved...CAN'T WAIT!!!!

    September sleevers wanted!

My sleeve is the 21st too and my surgeon told me I didn't need to do a pre-op diet (which really surprised me as I'm what we would call a heavy weight on here). I feel I am cheating by not having a pre-op diet. I have been slowly cutting things out the past few weeks (I replaced sweets with lowfat/nonfat yogurt for my snack at work, etc...) and try to stay as full as I can on water/liquids. I'm concerned that I have acquired a cold over the past week and am still feeling it a little bit. Really hoping this doesn't screw up my surgery next week.

    dance workout video/DVD recommendation

I have one I don't recommend. I tried 2 of the Carmen Electra Aerobic Strip Tease DVD's before. I thought that would be fun dancing to get my heart rate up but they moved kind of slow and I didn't feel I got much cardio from them. Maybe it was just me but I don't recommend those. Not dancing but I like the Biggest Loser DVD's- weight loss yoga and boot camp kick my butt what I bust those out (especially after not doing them for a while!)

What to bring what to buy?

My surgery is in a week and I am also curious what I need to take with me. I'm going to be in the hospital for about 5-6 days- I feel like I'm going on vacation. Haha. I've been trying to stock up on small food containers for storing portioned sized left overs and chewable vitamins and a blender and all that good stuff. But I have this constant nagging feeling in the back of my mind that I'm forgetting something. And knowing my luck it will be something important.

18 hours post op - photos

I appreciate the pics of what I can expect in 10 days! The way my surgeon talks I feel like I am going to be hooked up like Frankensteins Monster! :scared0: Hopefully my imagination is just getting the best of me. I can deal with the amount of tubing you had/have! Good luck on your recovery and enjoy your sleeve!

    keeping your old stomach!

I don't think they let you keep body parts anymore. I think back in the day they would- like throw it in a jar with formaldehyde and say have fun. When I had my wisdom teeth out I wanted to keep them and they said NO. I was sad. They are my teeth and I was paying them to take them- seemed only fair I could get to see them. I guess it's a "bio hazard" or something. Bio hazard...bio schmazard I say. :scared0: P.S. I don't think your weird at all. When I had a colonoscopy I kept demanding pictures of it as they were putting me under. I think I said something like "If you aren't going to take me to dinner before sticking a camera up my ass at least send me a picture of it!"....2 weeks later I got a big envelope with pictures of my colon in the mail from them! I hope to see my stomach when it comes out...at least a picture of it if they have already disposed of it....I want to say Good Bye to the lil fella.

    where are the heavyweights?

Another Heavy Weight here! Around 350 right now (maybe into the 340's....haven't weighed in little bit). Hope to lose 150+ when all is said and done. If I got to see the scale be below 200 I would jump for joy and yell it from the roof tops!:confused1:

    Is my mom jealous :(

Wow I am really sorry to hear about all of these jealous/negative people out there. It makes me really sad that people can't see we are trying to better our lives. It's not personal against them. Everyone has got to do for them what they got to do for them. Reading this thread makes me feel so lucky. My Mom is all for my surgery- she was the one who initially mentioned it to me and got me seriously looking into (I had always thought about it but never thought it could ever happen). The most unsupportive people are my boyfriends parents and they just seem to think I'm going to die on the operating table or something (so not so much against the sleeve per say):confused1: So glad we have this awesome forum to share, ask and rant to each other! :001_wub:

  16. Thanks for the ideas guys! I have tried telling him we will save money on our food budget since I will eat so little. That we can just order one dish. I will have to remind him how we are saving for a REAL vacation. Less money spent eating out = more $$$$ towards vacation!
  17. HI! My surgery is in 20 days now. YAY! So my boyfriend (who is stick thin...I actually just calculated his BMI and he comes in just in the underweight category) is supportive of my surgery (I don't think he fully understands it..as in why and how I won't starve to death) but he is supportive. However he seems to have this idea stuck in his head that we will never be able to go out to eat again. I have tried to tell him many times we can still go out that I just have to make healthier choices and won't be able to eat as much. He interrupts this as I will eat two bites be full and just sit there and wait for him to finish his food and be bored. I tell him as long as we are hanging out I don't care and that I have to eat slow and can't inhale my food. Despite eating a few bites he still may be be waiting for ME to finish. Anyone have any nuggets of wisdom I can share with him to assure him we can still go out to eat and all that jazz? Thanks!:001_cool:
  18. Insurance must be the greatest scam of all time! :001_cool: Sorry to hear about your "sleep apnea" hope all goes well with the rest of your insurance approval process! I feel so very grateful my National Health Insurance here in Taiwan does not have the 4,000 hoops to jump thru like back home.
