    BMI around 30

I started with a BMI of 31.5. I took a lot of heat from the hospital staff-nurses etc many of whom were heavier than me. I just told them it is a cosmetic surgery and I'm fine with that! I'm only 3 days out so don't have any long-term experience. Just saying-I understand why you might want to do this. Ideally I should be 50 llbs less than my starting weight. I've worked VERY VERY hard before and lost 30lb in 6 months only to gain it all back plus 10 lbs. I needed some freaking HOPE! I know I can control myself if I"m not hungry. But before I was ALWAYS HUNGRY.

    gas in chest

I just wanted to pop in and say hi. I was also sleeved 1/27/11! Each day is better but I've been regretful during these hard days. I just wanna be to the good part. I can't imagine getting all the Protein in yet. My Breakfast was so gross (thin oatmeal with vanilla Protein powder and a splash of milk) and it got cold before I could eat is all.

    Home from Hospital

Hey you all! I got sleeved on the 27th. Really wondered WTH I was thinking while I was in the hospital. Now my surgical incisions are almost painless. This morning I dry heaved a lot but just took micro sips of clears. Now my stomach still really hurts but I'm just sipping and sipping. I have to go back to work on Feb 7th so I'm nervous because I cannot feel like this and work.

    sleeved jan 24th

I was sleeved yesterday. The 1st 24 hours were very unpleasant. I'm better now but not perfect. I'm losing sight of the big picture - but I'm sure it will come back. Now that I'm out of the hospital I'm worried about getting fluids in until I'm better. Thinking of you.

    ANY FEBRUARY SLEEVERS

Hey Motherof3! Looks like our starting weights are almost the same-I weigh a little more. I'd LOVE to see 130 but I'd even be content maintaining at 140.

    ANY FEBRUARY SLEEVERS

I'm scheduled for 1/27/11 with Dr. Pleatman in MI. I can drive there and the self-pay price is reasonable. I thought doing it semi-locally would be easier than flying to MX. My BMI is "only" 32 but I've lurking here for a year weighing the same. Long story short: I'm having the surgery because dieting makes me SO HUNGRY that I have to make it a full-time job to get down to a BMI of 25 only to have the weight pile back on. I only have one problem: I haven't told my husband. He's so skinny that he's always trying to gain weight and has a low appetite. He doesn't understand why I don't just eat less-BECAUSE I'M HUNGRY! When the topic of WLS ever comes up he is very judgmental, saying that if people just applied themselves more they could lose weight without it. He'll also be worried about the risks of surgery. Anyway, it doesn't seem right to not tell him so wish me luck-he's coming back from a work trip on Saturday. I'm paying with my money from a different account that he doesn't track so just making an excuse to be gone a few days is so tempting.........but not really in the spirit of marriage. Ultimately I'm going to have to stand my ground about what is good for me.
  8. Thanks for letting us know. It is so good to here these things when we are in the deciding stage. Lillita-I have a love affair with food and can't break up! I'm hoping to get sleeved when I can make the time and make the committment.
  9. Hello! I've been hanging out here for about 9 months learning. I'm relatively low BMI, 32. I've been about 186 for the last year at 5'5". In 2005 I dieted and took up jogging and weight lifting and went from 176 to 148 and maintained that about 6 months. Then something stressful happened and I popped up to 168. Then in 2008 something else stressful happened and I've been in the 180s every since. I'm just so so so hungry all the time. But I feel CRAPPY at this weight-exercise feels too hard, I need a nap everyday, I hate sex cause I hate my body, my feet hurt etc. Anyway I'm pretty ready to get sleeved as an aid to weight loss. Most of my problem is constant hunger constantly sabotaging my efforts. I'll be self pay so I need to think about price. I was really looking into Dr. Aceves but I really don't want to do all the travel so I found Dr. Mark Pleatman who is about a 3 hour drive away in Michigan. He's willing to do the surgery so I'm wondering if anybody has experience or opinions about him. Thanks! Laura
