What does restriction feel like?
Lakelady replied to Penpen's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think its less pleasant than full felt before pre-op and higher up in the chest. But hungry is way less intense so thats really the best part And it varies widely for no apparent reason. Last night I ate 1.5 flautas de pollo slowly and was comfortable and sometimes just fluid fills me up. I was out with a friend last night who doesn't know about my surgery so it was nice to eat "normally" -
I just don't get how I can eat a 1/2 chicken breast when I have a size 32! But I can and everything works! Makes me doubly happy to have the rest of my giant stretchy stomach outta there and no longer controlling me!!!
-
I immediately slept much better too! Altho I wish I'd kept my memory foam topped mattress that hurt my back when I was overweight because my bones dig into my new firm mattress! Nice "problem" eh?
-
I'm sorry this happened. Keep in touch-many here with complications end up loving their sleeve after some time!

FRICK AND FRACK FOOD COMMERCIALS
Lakelady replied to USMCwifeandTEACHER's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I loved homemade chicken broth with Srarachi sauce and plenty of salt in my first days post op because it wasn't sweet and gross. -
Poll and Questions for those already Sleeved:
Lakelady replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
1) How long have you been sleeved? 15 weeks 2)Who was your surgeon? Mark Pleatman 3) What were your experiences with your surgeon? Positive-I was comfortable with his skill and I could afford the price self-pay 4) Would you recommend your surgeon? Yes. 5) How much weight have you lost since your sleeve date? 40 6) What type of sleeve do you have? 32 bougie 7) Would you recommend the type of sleeve you have? Yes 8) Do you find you still have the necessary level of energy to sustain a good workout? Yes-SO MUCH more energy-no problem at all! 9) Do you find it difficult to keep the weight off once you have lost it? No - still losing. Almost to my goal, will probably go under. 10) Do you have trouble eating, such as getting “stuck”? A little but after a little learning its important to chew well and not overeat. I've eaten too fast and slimed and vomited but that's unusual. 11) What is the one thing about getting the surgery that you regret? Nothing, I only wish I was naturally thin! 12) Would you do this surgery again, or would you have made another? Yes, I'm so glad it only has to be done once and everyday I feel great and have good restriction. -
pulmonary Embolism?
Lakelady replied to JennsNewLife's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm very low-risk for a blood clot and still had the leg squeezing things (which I found very soothing) and heparin shots afterward. You look very young in your pic - I bet you have a coag disorder with a history like yours. Good luck! -
FRICK AND FRACK FOOD COMMERCIALS
Lakelady replied to USMCwifeandTEACHER's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you pre or post-op? I don't find much tempting post-op. And if I want to try it I find a couple bites makes me full and it isn't quite the same as it was before. -
I like it but its too sweet and has too much caffeine. I can only take it at half dose (and one scoop only has 7-8 grams of protein) in the morning.

Ha ha! I read the topic as "Pre-op Diet Coke" and clicked on it cause I do so love diet coke! Sick.

Let's Talk: Post Op Acne
Lakelady replied to Candace2314's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I've noticed an increase too. And big cystic acne! My skin is drier but I'm lacking in fluids some days. -
Question for people with lower BMI
Lakelady replied to Sap Soon's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too started out with a "low" BMI of about 32. I'm 14 weeks out and as you can see from my ticker I'm close to my goal and now anticipate going under that goal of 140lbs! My surgeon does have a lot of people travel to see him if you are interested in that. I was able to drive there-which made my decision easy about where to go. Good luck!! -

I hate Eckrich Smok-Y-Links sausages now
Lakelady posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
So I pulled a package of these outta the freezer and fried one up (instead of 4 like before). I took one bite and couldn't believe it! I hated it! It didn't taste like they used to-it was just greasy cardboard. I didn't eat the rest. In other news: I'm working out regularly so my arms are getting firmer as they get thinner. I fit my jeans I wore in high school but they are horribly out of style so I went to the Gap for new jeans-due to new-fangled vanity sizing I'm a size 8! (silly) I have tons of energy-I can't believe how tiring it is to be fat-and then I was so tired that I ate more "for energy." :-) CHECK OUT MY TICKER!! I started with a relatively low BMI so I'm surprised at how fast I've been losing. I'm nervous about maintaining soon but I'm sure I'll work it out. -
Low BMI and still having VSG
Lakelady replied to christina420's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I started with a BMI of about 32. That gave me about 50 lbs to lose. Check out my ticker! I'm very happy. I self-paid so that was easy. -
Hunger returning after 5 months?
Lakelady replied to faithstar's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get hungry too. But its not a problem because its gone after 3 bites of protein-avoid sliders, eat protein and it doesn't need to be the monster it once was. I'm hungry now...off to make a good choice and eat a tiny bit. -
I fit my goal pants already...
Lakelady replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
You look amazing! I'm so happy for you! -
I just feel sorry for them. At a starting point of BMI 32 I only know a glimmer of how uncomfortable that it. And that's enough for me. I almost feel guilty that I got WLS surgery and feel so good-I want that for everybody. After only 14 weeks I'm surprised at how much food people eat-just normal weight people.

Went through with it!
Lakelady replied to b190c550's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Actually once you are few weeks out its really easy. I'd forget I was sleeved once and while only to be reminded with tight restriction upon a few bites. I love exercising now because I know I won't go home and eat so much I cancel out the entire workout! Sounds like you are doing great! -
My doctor showed me some long-term stats from his patients with a low BMI to close to mine. She only went from 186 to 156 in weight and he said that was probably because he used a larger bougie back then. Now he uses a size 32 which from my experience is fine-I can ea...er u..actually I've never measured....I can suck back slider foods-but don't unless they are protein shakes and get almost immediate tight restriction with the regular protein meals. After the first month I've had no reflux and as you can see from my ticker I'm getting close to goal after only 14 weeks! He didn't ever describe a percentage because I'm sure that's different with everybody.

8 months Post op -- 122 lbs gone!
Lakelady replied to juliarh's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Wow thanks for that. I haven't watched many VSG youtube videos so that was really neat. You must be really tall to look like that at 182! -
3 1/2 months out and hit a stall....HELP!!!
Lakelady replied to thenewme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No advice-just good company. I'm pretty happy because I only have 11 lbs to go but STILL! I'm not eating much but I'm not limiting carbs so I could work on that. Check out my stair-step loss if you click on my ticker. -
If you have a family order the pizza for them because feeding you won't be any trouble at all. A 1/3 cup of cottage cheese and a few slices of peach and you will be as satisfied as you were after 3-4 slices of pizza pre-op.

My first NSVs!-updated with pictures

Congrats! Isn't it so much fun. I'm playing the same game over here! -
Wow, I'm really feeling for you. I don't have anymore advise to add to what has already been said here. I'm so glad you are reaching out. I hold hope for you that you will get better-I was sleeved about the same time and feel great. Keep nourishing yourself in everyway you can.
