What does "full" feel like now?
Lakelady replied to ChelseaChestnut's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Solid proteins make the difference. I feel hungry and full several times a day. But there are only a few bites between the two states! -
Anyone Wish They Had Not Done Their Gastric Sleeve Surgery?
Lakelady replied to Karelia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love being thin again. I feel great. And while its true you cannot eat like you used to nobody notices and you won't care either because you aren't hungry and you absolutely just can't. I've made decisions and purchases I've regretted-but this one has been nothing but awesome. -
I'm the same as you: bikini when young and thin and then hi-rise when fat because I couldn't handle the fat roll over the bikinis. Now I'm wearing "hipsters" that are a nice compromise. As for thongs-help yourself, other people-I couldn't do it.

Oh NO! 10 days out! HELP!
Lakelady replied to losingitin2012's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I honestly doubt that would hurt you long term. -
For what its worth in the early 90s I was a size 12. Now, weighing the same and fitting those clothes again I'm a size a 8 at The Gap. Even when I was 18 and 128lb I was NOT a size 8 but that was 18 years ago now.

Please Advise about odor
Lakelady replied to SmokyMtnGal2011's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Any chance you have an generalized anxiety or any OCD tendencies? Over concern about body odor is a common symptom. Often anxiety will increase with dieting because we are so used to eating to ease anxiety. I don't mean to offend, just asking. BTW I'm very inpressed with your pre-op weight loss! That's better than I could do! -
I didn't want to bother flying anywhere. My entire cost was a little under $12000. I drove 3+ hours to get there so I haven't gone to any post-op appointments but that would be included if I needed it. I was very happy with my surgery.

It's been a really easy project to take in T-shirts and skirts. I took in the waist of a size 14 skirt yesterday by about 3-4 inches. 5 months ago that skirt was too small for me! I'm not really skilled enough to take in pants but the other things has been so much fun. One of my favorite t-shirts was from Lane Bryant-now I can wear it again!

I actually eat lots of normal food-just very small amounts I eat whatever my family is having for supper-chicken, fish, chili, tacos-whatever. I eat a poached egg and small low-fat, sugar free latte almost every morning. I like certain protein bars-half a bar replaces a meal! Fill-in foods: low-fat cottage cheese and fage 20% greek yogurt, smoothies made from unflavored protein powder etc. It's important to find the things you like so that you regularly actually want them. I stil get hungry so I need a plan. I still have the ability to go thru a McDonald's drive thru so I need to have another plan than that! I'm out and about most days I've just discovered how much easier it is to have a insulated lunch box so the yogurt is cold and protein bar isn't melty.

did you tell people about thinking/having vsg?
Lakelady replied to jasleeve's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I only told my husband and a friend who had WLS after me. I only told her because she shared with me and was bemoaning that "you lost weight without surgery-why couldn't she?" I felt so bad that I told her-of course she's been supportive. I do get lots and lots of attention for my weight loss but I don't feel like dealing with the judgement. -

Hard to make yourself eat when for so long on diets you were trying not to!
Lakelady replied to SuperMom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It will get much easier. When I feel like that I go for cottage cheese or Greek yogurt. -
I've never heard of that place but it sounds fun! I usually order a la carte and take home leftovers. Getting my "money's worth" and cleaning my plate got me overweight to begin with so doing quite the opposite with the help from the sleeve is a small price to pay for being a size 8!

JUST CURIOUS....6 months out!
Lakelady replied to hopeandfaith's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm almost 6 months out. I've lost 50 lbs but as u can see that brings me to my goal. Life is a little harder at goal. I think about the gym less and mcdonalds more. -
Not telling family about surgery?
Lakelady replied to Band Be Gone's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I've only told my husband and one friend who recently had WLS. I didn't tell people because I didn't want to justify surgery at such a "low" BMI. I get lots of attention for all the weight lost but I try to avoid talking about it. My friends went from irritated that I wouldn't eat the type and volume of food that I used to with them (social eater here!) to actually being really excited for me when the weight came off. Nobody really notices how very very small my portions are because I don't call attention to it. I know I "should" tell people but I don't want to. No two piece swimming suits for me because of the scars. -
Unsure looking for alittle advice
Lakelady replied to lala30's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I recently got the sleeve and my friend who was more overweight got the gastric bypass. My surgery and recovery were much more simple but we are both losing and feeling good. Good luck! I love not worrying about malabsorbtion. -
I was just marveling to myself today at how different foods give such incredibly different restriction! And how different my restriction is at different times! I got one spicy tuna roll today and it came in 6 pieces. I was painfully full after 2 pieces for lunch and then again ate 2 pieces for supper. I still have 2 pieces in the fridge! I used to eat 3 whole rolls in one setting! So weird.
-
I love to sit a booth! Congrats! Of course now I can't eat much but WHATEVER!
-
Well that reality really makes me glad this surgery is permanent! Looks like we don't need the rest of our stomachs! I'm getting to the place you are talking about, its not like before where I was super hungry, but I SO could eat a handful of potato chips with my husband in the evening.

Thanks for the peek into the future. It makes me appreciated my honeymoon even more. And know that even when its over I'll be better than I woulda been without the sleeve. What's the biggest problem hunger or slipping into eating bad foods?
