  1. I've had surgeries before my sleeve. My incisions seem to stay a pinkish color for about 5 months or so. Maybe my incisions heal slower, but it takes them a LONG time to get to the white scar line look.
  2. I would say yes to that question. Your body has been through a lot the last few days and is still adjusting to the new tummy, working ALL of the drugs out that were in your system and a lower calorie count. But, you can always call your dr. office and ask. But I know it took a week before I began to feel "human" again. Hang in there! :tongue_smilie:
  3. For me, it took several different sources. I used my tax return, flex pay benefit at work and then put back what ever I could afford out of every check. I was so surprised that I was able to get it all together! However, it was worth every penny and I would do it all again in a heart beat!!!!
  4. When I questioned my nut about this, she told me not to worry about counting the carbs, just getting in the protein and water. So, now almost 6 weeks out, I'm still not counting, just eating lots of protein. I still don't know about the "right" amount of carbs, but by the time I get my protein in, there isn't much room left for anything else! LOL
  5. I am having the same reaction! I am much more active now and I feel like I'm always doing something around the house! Another reason I am so happy with the sleeve!
  6. Yes, I agree! That does seem very high. I paid 12,000 for the pre-op visits, support visits, surgery and hospital stay. I would continue to search and ask more questions.
  7. Mini-Me, CONGRATS!!!!! I can't EVEN begin to image how it must feel! Rejoice in this moment and enjoy! All of your hard work has paid off!
  8. LOL!!!! Ok, well, now I know that it will get EVEN better! This was an "unexpected" benefit!!!
  9. Actually, I thank God everyday that I was able to get the sleeve! (I was a self pay person.) I love it, would do it again in a heartbeat, and feel very loved by myself because I did this for me! It was undoubtedly the best thing I have ever done for myself, my health and my family.
  10. I had the same thing and I just keep drinking liquids. I was so scared of becoming dehydrated! It was a weird feeling too and I thought it might never go away, but it did after about a week as I recall. I also had "good" days and "bad" days. I think that just goes with having surgery in general.
  11. OK, I have lost about 27 lbs since my surgery! I can't EVEN believe it. Although no one really has noticed yet:001_unsure:. But, I'm feeling great......so great in fact, that I believe my sex drive is returning! LOL! Soooooo, I was wondering if anyone else has notice anything like this and if so, as you lose weight does it just get better and better???? LOL! My husband thinks he has died and gone to heaven! LOL!!! :sad0: I thought if anyone could shed some light on this subject, it would be my sistas on here! Thanks for your thoughts.:001_rolleyes:
  12. I was self pay, but, the doctors, (PCP and surgeon) considered my co-morbids as an important part of my situation. My BMI was just barely 35. So, some of my issues included, HBP hypertension, joint pain, chronic pain syndrom, Fibromyaligia, severe acid reflux, and hypertriglyceridemia. Which since the surgery, I'm off HBP meds, my joints aren't hurting, and I haven't needed to take my darvocet (pain killer)! I only 5 weeks out and am still totally amazed at this! LOL
  13. So sorry you are going through this! Have you spoken with your surgeon yet about this situation? Also, you might try calling your insurance company and asking them about what will happen if you have to extend your surgery date. I do know that I've seen people's posts stating they had antibiotics before surgery. I don't know the situation, just that they had mentioned it in a post. So, perhaps, it is one that won't mess up your surgery. Just something to think about. Hang in there! I know it would stink if you had to postpone it, but just try to look at the positive that you will still be able to have the surgery! It's probably going to work out ok, it just might take some phone calling on your part! Good luck and let us know how it goes.
  14. I'm so sorry that you are going through this. I'm with Mila. I would keep calling and asking questions. Since the base doesn't/can't perform them, they might have ideas of where to go and what to do. Do you know of anyone else with Tricare who has had the sleeve? If so, how did it work for them? I would ask around, even consider starting a thread here about it to see what answers/ideas you might get from others. I hope it works out for you and you get what is best for you!
  15. I would agree with the posts here. It probably will be OK, but just be sure that you can get some rest in! I know I wiped out very easily. As long as everything goes well, (and it will) I would think you will be fine with the exception of the fatigue. Good luck!
  16. Within three weeks I was down one dress size! I couldn't believe how fast it happened. I am about 5 weeks out and some of my pre surgery pants almost fall off of me! I am truly amazed at times by the sleeve!
  17. WOW! I have the same issues with getting dizzy. I have been off of bp meds since surgery, but I've had it checked and it is fine....hmmmm....interesting! I'd be interested in knowing what doctors are saying!
  18. AWESOME! I am so glad to hear that you are doing well. Keep up with the protein, b/c as you know, it will help with healing. Keep us updated! I can't image having to drive 6.5 hours after surgery!
  19. Welcome Denilli! I am so glad you have joined us. I find everyone on here warm, encouraging, supportive and helpful. Good luck with your journey and please keep us posted!
  20. Thanks guys! Let me know what you think.
  21. Yes, I have been describing my experiences using YouTube. I was so inspired by the ones that Ive watched! So, I wanted to do it too! Here is the link: YouTube - forsiamese4me's Channel
  22. I know EXACTLY how you feel! I also feel like I will be the ONLY one that won't lose weight with the sleeve. I have to remind myself that I will, but it takes time! :thumbup1:
  23. Yes, I feel like that frequently. Especially right now because I think I've entered the three week stall. I try to give myself pep talks, but it is hard! I too deep down feel like I'm going to fail at this too and it will be "just another one of the diets" that didn't work type of a thing. Logically, I tell myself that it won't happen this time, but after so many attempts and so many failures it is hard to get out of that thinking. So, I totally understand how your feeling.
  24. I am 3 1/2 weeks out. I was wondering how everyone was doing on getting your vitamins and calcium in during the day? I am having problems getting it all in, especially the calcium. I have the calcium and vitamin chews from Bariactric Advantage, but the calcium chews are only 250 mg. That means for me to get in 1500-2000 I need approximately 6 a day. But it is too much. My tummy won't hold that, meals, and protein drinks, plus water. So, how do you recent sleevers get it all in and how? Any ideas would be appreciated.
