  1. Yes! the dreaded Stall!! ....but, this too shall pass! I am just a little over 3 months out from surgery, and have lost 34 lbs. and 6 inches from my waist!! I thought I should have lost much more but Dr. Davidson says it is real good. I will continue to lose appox. 8 lbs per month, which is great! Chin's up (no pun intended, teehee) all. It WILL HAPPEN, DON'T LOSE HEART!!

  2. Mine is a 32. It is the smallest they can use legally. I can manage 4 to 6 oz food per meal. If it something dense like steak, then i eat less because i get full so fast. If it"s "slider" food, like mashed potatoes, or Soup then i can have 6oz. I am happy with my loss of 31 lbs. just hitting the 2 month mark since my sleeve. I will be flying back to Dallas in August for my 3 month check up. I seem to be doing good. feel good. sometimes i forget my vitamens, which are very important.

  3. Trust me, everyone goes through this....we have all hit a plateau, in fact you will hit several along the way. It is not going to fall off over night! Keep your focus on the end result! YOU WILL LOSE THE WEIGHT! You just have to do what you are supposed to, and exercise, eat right. get your Protein and Vitamins in. Do and eat the way your Dr. and his team tell you. In a few months after your surgery, you will look back and wonder where all that weight went! I have lost 30lbs in 7 weeks. No diet I have ever been on did I ever lose it that quick, so just relax, have your sleeve, and just let it happen!!

  4. My first stall lasted almost 3 weeks. I was so upset I called my Dr. He asked a few questions, like was i getting enough exercise, was i still using lots of Protein Shakes. I was using too many shakes, but was getting the exercise. I think once you introduce soft foods, you stall. I have just now started losing a little now. I have lost 30lbs in 7 weeks now, so I dont think that is too bad, neither does the dr. so hang in there, it will start coming off again, and I did continue to lose the inches.

  5. One of the reasons for no sugar is to prevent the "Dumping Syndrome" if you ever have it, trust me you won't want to go through it again. Another reason, there is no nutritional value. once you get 6 weeks past surgery, you can eat different things, but you are going to have to get all of your Protein from your foods. Why would you have the surgery if you want to continue eating sweets.

  6. You know, I read so much about his very dry bedside manner but I remembered that when I talked to him. I found him to be a very nice guy and as far as his surgery skills, he is great. I like his office very much. I had my 2 week diet meet with Lauren and she is so much fun. Our meeting ended up going way over cause we kept chatting about everything and cracking jokes. I only have a problem with one member on the staff and it was not really too big of a deal. They just tried to tell me I was supposed to like something that was sold to me out of the office and I just didn't like it. Was told I had the wrong mind set. I took great offense to that. We also argued about Water retention...Don't care for that person anymore and try to avoid working with them if possible. I don't have to go back until the 19th and I hope to lose a lot before then but I am turning out to be a slow looser.

well maybe you won't have to deal with that person again. I think i am going to be a slow loser too, but i think those of us that have less to lose will take longer. keep going and look to the future, it sure looks bright to me!!

  7. Hey everyone. I am one month post op as of yesterday but had to do all my fun stuff today as we got home late last night from a trip to the mountains. :)

I am happy to report that at one month I have lost 37 pounds and a total of 25 inches off my body!!!

This has been an adjustment but I have to say overall it has been an easy one for me. I am happy... I am active (5 K last weekend, 3 hikes this weekend, and workouts in between!)... I am feeling well... I'm eating a lot of different things now (still nothing hard/crunchy/100% solid for a couple more weeks). I'm satisfied with my small portions and loving that I am ABLE to be satisfied. Had a Father's Day BBQ at my parents house today and had 1/2 a bratwurst, no bun, and a small cube of pineapple. Compared to previously when I would have eaten 2 bratwursts with Buns, potato chips, corn on the cob, a ton of fruit, and dessert.

I'm already a size down in my tops (lost more inches up top than I did on the bottom) and getting rid of clothes and fitting into stuff I've had stored away. I'm wearing tank tops and shorts out in public and I am happy.

    I am LOVING being SLEEVED!!!!!!!!

Now for some pictures. Before, and 1 month, side by side in two tops - one that fit me at the start and is now really roomy, and the other was super tight at the start and now actually fits.

Do you see a difference? I do :001_wub:

So happy and excited for you! I know that feeling, I have it too! I am 6 weeks out from my sleeve, and have lost 28lbs. I just hit my first plateau. It may last as long as 2 weeks, but I am still losing inches. Its a wonderful feeling. Best of everything on the rest of your journey!

  8. Don't you think he is a really good Dr.? I flew to Dallas to have him do my sleeve because my sister n law had him do hers a year ago. We live in Florida, but my husbands family live in Dallas, so I had the best of care from Dr. Davidson, Forest Park, my husband, and his family. Dr. Davidson would not let me fly home for 2 weeks for fear of blood clots, and daily shots of blood thinner. At first I was annoyed, but then realized that it was only out of care and concern for my safety. I am 6 weeks out from my sleeve, and really doing good. I have not had any serious complications at all. I have lost 28lbs so far. Right now I am at a plateau, but still losing inches. I am not discouraged, as I know this will happen for several times beforew I reach my goal. It will start coming off again soon. Best of everything to you.

  9. Well I've been sleeved for 11 days now and it doesn't even feel like it. My life was totally back to normal (running my 4 kids to their sports, graduations and karate testing) by day 5 oh and was at my daughter's graduation the day after the hospital Crazy I know Im so hungry I feel like I can eat my house. Im down 20 pounds and have followed the diet but due to my Dr going on vacation he had to see me only 1 week post op instead of 2 weeks and said I can already move onto mushy foods. I dont feel any different I feel I could woof down a hamburger the only thing stopping me if fear of pain. I am already swallowing all my pills and ready to start excersicing on Monday.

Why do I feel so hungry??

why do I feel like I never even had 3/4 of my stomach removed????

    :lol0::confused1::confused1::confused1:

I guess everyone is different, but I was told by my Dr. not to swallow any pills. I have to crush or have liquid meds for the first 6 weeks. You really should give your stomach more time to heal by not eating heavy or dense meats. Also you should not be drinking with your meals or for aat least 30min agter, so you dont wash your food through the sleeve. That may be why you are feeling so hungry.

    :bored0:

  10. When my husband and i go out to eat, we only order one meal. he will order something like grilled chicken and veggies, or sometimes grilled shrimp or crab cakes, and Soup. I take little bites from his plate and put it on a saucer. it workes great for us. my husband is my biggest fan, he gently reminds me about my portions and to slow down between bites, i lay my fork down often, and we talk a lot and catch up on things forgotten or to busy to discuss earlier. I have no regrets what so ever, except that i wish i had done this earlier. 5 weeks out for my sleeve, and lost 27lbs.

  11. In the first and second week i did Clear Liquids, and shakes. weeks 3 and 4 I am doing soft foods like Bumble Bee white albacore tuna mixed with hellmans light mayo. Also Swanson's canned chicken ( small cans) mixed with hellmans light mayo. Fat free Cottage cheese, soft scrambled egg, and hard boiled eggs are good too. I will have a chocolate Protein Shake to help get in the Proteins (Advocare Meal Replacement shake) i use fat free milk instead of Water and crushed ice. put it in blender with half a bannana and 1 pkg of sweet n low. makes a wonderful shake. I also like Atkins Advantage shakes. they are already mixed and are good for taking with me when i got out, that and a bottle of water. i also get the Kellogg's special KO2 Protein water mix. i like the strawberry/kiwi it has 5g protein and 5g Fiber, and it taste good, sometimes you just get tired of water all the time. hope this helps.

This is a great verse. It helps me keep focused on my goal:

Jer 29:11~For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, Plans not to harm you but to give you a future and a hope.

  12. I am back after having been sleeved yesterday. The facility was wonderful and everyone there was just great. I am in just a little pain and am very sleepy from drugs but I have been walking and sipping. It does help so much. They actually told me I was their marathon walker. I just put on my Ipod and found a song and walked.

I gained 11 pounds since yesterday because of all the liquid they pumped into me. That was shocking. Anyone going to have their procedure at Forest Park will be very happy they did.

Thats where I had mine done. Dr. James Davidson did mine. I have never had such good hospital care. Everyone there is just wonderful. I live in Fla, but my husbands family live in Dallas. I had to stay there 2 weeks after surgery and take daily shots od blood thinner so it would be safe for me to fly home. I highly recommed Forest Park, and Dr. Davidson.

  13. well I only had a couple of bites of the cake but I probably ate about 5 oz of steak!! I did chew it until it was very mushy and I didnt even feel full!! It's the same with drinking fluids I can still drink like normal I dont have to sip!! I myself thought it was weird I keep expecting to feel somthing that signals Im full but I dont get that "full" feeling!! I see my doctor tomorrow and Im going to ask him but I really wanted to see if its only me having this problem or if anyone else has?? also what makes it really strange to me is instead of staying 2 days I had to stay 6 days in the hospital because I was unable to drink or eat anything. but once i came home that totally changed!! I really dont want to do anything to hurt my chances of sucess but I feel im still having the same habits I did before and I dont have the restriction to tell me to slow down =*(

Are you drinking fluids as you eat, if so you should not drink any fluids for about 30 min. after you eat. If you do it washes the food out.
