  1. I have not had surgery yet but I completely understand food addiction. My first thought when I am upset is food. I found out some very upsetting news this morning and I got in a small snit with my husband because I wanted to get a coffee from starbucks. (honestly if I wanted coffee that badly I could make some at my desk) but, I just lost it.. I was so mad. Then later I thought about the same moment and I was over it. I am tired of food making choices for me instead of the other way around. I feel so guilty after I indulge in bad foods.

20 years old, never had a boyfriend.

Take time now to know yourself.. the boys will always be there. Trust me! In the end you will be able to have a longer lasting realtionship when you have a firmer idea of who you are. Treat yourself with the same kindness you would give your best friend! :crying: I am pulling for you!!

    MIni said it all!
  9. I agree with the rest of the forum the choice ultimately is yours. I would research everything you can (which is what I am doing) If you do decide to delay make sure you are keeping up with monthly weigh-ins (if using insurance). You can always get approved and really hit it again and see how things look in 2 months.. etc... I just know for me if I could do it alone I would have already. The sleeve is the added kick in the proverbial (you know what) I will need.

I am with you Possum!! I am stressed out and tired and fed up with being overweight. The person I am is not the one I see in the mirror. I want them to match.

I agree with deedee... never hurts to call your doctor just in case. I noticed your name says songbird in it.. do you sing? I would be interested in knowing that side effects you have noticed in technique if you do.
  12. Congratulations!! You are an inspiration to the people like me who are just begining the journey to qualify for the procedure. : )

    Starting with Low BMI

Thanks so much for sharing your story mini.. I am at the 35BMI and I have had the same thoughts... I am so tired of feeling guilty and depressed. I do my best to make healthy choices and work out. I honestly believe this surgery will give me the added tool(s) to make a life change. I have my last weigh in July 1st. Then it is off to get approval.. I am hoping for an August surgery.
  14. I woulld definitely talk to your doctor before starting any exercise program. It never hurts to verify what type of activity you should be doing. I am sure you will have time for yoga if it is not Ok now. I have a friend that swears by it! : )
  15. Yea Mary!! Glad to hear you are on the road to recovery!! Sending you healing vibes.
  16. This surgery is one step on the journey to a healthier you. If you are commited to using the tool along with diet and exercise you can accomplish anything. I am amazed at the stories on this forum of people who have reached their goal (and are keeping it off)... and the people who are doing it right now!! I am so glad I found this forum. Before reading some of the responses in here I felt like I was sooo alone. It is nice to have people who really "GET" what you are experiencing.. pre-op and post.
  17. I am hoping for an August date ... we shall see. : )

    Unsupportive Partner?

I am sorry that you have such an unsupportive husband!! It is awful that he is sabotaging your goals in this way!!!! I cannot believe he called you "dammaged goods" That comment alone made me very angry! There is no reason for him to say something so hurtful. That comment doesn't show that he loves you and is worried about you. That comment was said to undermine your desire to change your life. If it helps any remember that he is a grown man. He will not wither and cease to exist because you are making a change. If he wants to eat bad foods you are not his mother and nothing you can do will make him change. He will have to come to that place on his own. My thoughts are with you. No one deserves to live in an environment where they are under appreciated and held down. Do not let him squish you!...
  19. I have UHC and I was required to do the 6 month weight loss program with my surgeon. The time really flies honestly. It is worth it. I have my last weigh in on July 1st. Hoping for a quick approval and surgery date soon.
  20. That is a really intersting article. Thank you very much for posting this. That is my biggest weakness...anything sweet. It would make sense that if I have more grehlin floating around I would be drawn to these types of food more.

    July Surgeries

we have a magic bullet... I love it for ease of use. It is not a high powered blender but I knew that when I bought it.. heh It works great for smoothies and ice coffee. I know after the surgery it will be useful for making shakes or soups. The thing I like the most about it is the different size containers and tops. Just make sure you do not screw the blender attachment on really tight..snug is fine but if you screw it on too tight you have a heck of a time getting it off again. heheh
