Do NOT do what I did today!
ohhhh boy, gotcha! I did that once while eating a hot juicy hamburger patty, I got carried away and ate too big of bites too quickly. The pain was horrible and it was accompanied by what I guess is sliming. yuckville. After it passed I felt like I had a hangover.

Chai!!!
OMFG - I don't know what I would do without my Good Earth decaf!! It is seriously the most perfect blend ever - I wouldn't be surprised if humans have been drinking this perfect blend in some form or other since we first discovered spices! As for the chai, I get a bag of chai powder from my local organic co-op, their own blend that they sell by weight. My Mom and I are total chai-heads and have discovered all sorts of ways to enjoy. The latest two are oat milk and greek yogurt. Oat milk is really good for you and interestingly tasty, and adding the chai powder or liquid to the greek yogurt - knock out!!!! If you're totally chai-crazed like my family, you can even bake it into Desserts. When I have a kitchen again I'm going to try worldaccordingtoeggface's Protein mini-muffins with chai mixed in, yumm.

Biggest Loser last night
This may be off topic but in reference to BL having squandered the opportunity to teach America something, does anyone remember Mtv's Real World? The very first season it was about providing struggling young artists in New York a good place to live and contacts in their fields and seeing if they could make it. After that, it just became about who was screwing who and fights over who ate whose cream cheese. I am proud to say I have never watched a single episode of Survivor, Idol, and all that idiot programming.

Do NOT do what I did today!
Wait, I'm lost, what made you ill? The smoked salmon and mashed potato? I may not personally have eaten the potato but what's wrong with the salmon? Or was it a delayed reaction from the caramels?

Coconut Water
Sounds like a good item to add to an emergency survival kit!

Public Service Announcement
Oh my! Roger that. However, a mix of benefibre cherry drink powder mixed with a dose of miralax does the trick quite nicely, I must say.

Haven't been here in a while! Update
That would be encouraging if I thought the vsg-assisted weight loss would continue into a year but, according to my surgeon, it won't. After 9 months the body readjusts internally and according to him, you may still lose weight but no longer like a wls patient, just like non-ops.
-
Top 10 reasons to have VSG surgery
I've thought of some more!! 1 For people to see my face before they see my body. 2 To not feel that it is a struggle to present myself with dignity. 3 To not have to work so hard to look good; to be able to throw on a sweater and jeans and look cute, not sloppy. 4 To wear pretty underwear in a variety of styles 5 Short skirts, skinny jeans, tank tops, flat-front trousers, shorts. 6 To walk long distances or stand longer than 10 minutes or dance without getting winded. 7 To walk out of a store empty handed because I didn't like their styles, not because nothing fit. 8 To never wear double knit polyester AGAIN!!!!!! F** you, Lane Bryant!! 9 To not be forced to pay through the nose for cheaply made POLYESTER clothes. 10 To wear real fabrics; silk, wool, cashmere. 11 To fit comfortably with room to spare in movie theatre seats, especially when I go to an old theatre that has seats that were made back when everyone had narrow behinds.

Haven't been here in a while! Update
Yeah, I'm going to email him today and ask but the last time I did that I was only 5 weeks out or so and I wrote him, worried about my slow loss. He told me at that time that if I stayed within 600 calories and got at least 30 minutes of exercise a day that I would lose. Well I do both and I average only 1-2 pounds a week. :sad0:

Haven't been here in a while! Update
Tiff - Yeah, I worry that my meals are stretching out so long they are starting to resemble grazing and I really miss vegetables. Mary - I'm on 600 cals because that is what my surgeon told me to do. I don't want to second guess him, but at the same time, I'm just not seeing results. This is supposed to be the serious honeymoon period where major weight should be melting off and it just isn't. I just don't know what to do.

Clothing choices are so much better in regular sizes!
Oh man, that story needs to go in NSV shout outs!! AWESOME.

Stall??'s
That is the best explanation of our weight loss that I have ever seen, not even my surgeon explained it that well and he's one of the best in the world. I seem to be a very slow loser and it is very stair steppy loss. I have noticed that if I up my fat content -not my calories- then I have better loss so I keep my fats between 20-23g's a day. I only lost half a pound in the last 4 days and I exercise 30 min every day and eat 600 cals!
-
YIPPEE!! my thyroid is shot
it feels silly to ask this but, what ways can I rev up my metabolism without drugs? I do a brisk treadmill walk for 30 min every morning and take in 600 cals a day with 70+ grams of protein.

Hunger
The first few weeks after surgery when I felt absolutely zero hunger/interest in food made me feel alien. Now, I guess I experience hunger, but it's not hunger like I remember it, it's more like an emptiness.
-
How do I eat when I always feel full
I'm 10 weeks out and on 600 calories/70g's protein a day. I've got a craving for vegetables but 600 cals keeps me on a pretty tight budget of protein protein protein. I seem to be a slow loser. If allowed I could easily 900 cals a day

1 year/80-100 lbs lost-Heat
Ha! I started making nose-cozies for my friends and family years ago as a teen after reading Haroun & The Sea of Stories, where the people who live in the dark wear them. I can make you one!

Haven't been here in a while! Update
I worry that I am able to eat too much, I can eat an entire small boneless breast of chicken, I have no idea how many ounces that is, I guesstimate it at 4-5 ounces. Mixed up with some mayo and mustard as chicken salad I can eat the entire thing over the course of an hour. And it is suddenly psychologically difficult to stay within my 600 calories, I wonder if I am self-sabotaging...

1 year/80-100 lbs lost-Heat
I had heard for years, when I lurked around wls boards, that people got cold easily. For me that seemed like a benefit since I'm overheated in anything but a blizzard. So now that I'm sleeved, I'm wondering, when does this kick in? I've lost some weight and it's 2 months out, so, where's my chilliness please! Oh yeah, and I'm in Iraq so, you know, HOT.

Closing in on 16 months post op
124 lbs is a size 2? Wow, when I weighed that in high school I was an 8. These wide hips!!!!!!!! Tiff it provides so much encouragement to see your success, to know that it is possible not only to just lose the obesity but to even lose the overweight. It keeps me going, I know that!!

My experience
Robeania, I noticed that all of your snacks are sweet, popsicles, fruit, and sf jello. Personally, I've noticed a "craving" for more food when I eat something sweet, sf or not. Also your protein is really low, again that's just a personal opinion. My surgeon has me on 70grams of protein a day. I know that a lot of us have discovered that the more dense protein we eat, the less we are likely to or even desire to snack. I've noticed that if I wait at least 30 minutes after I've eaten before I drink anything the fullness/satisfaction lasts much longer. You're only a month out and you are lifting weights? Wow, my surgeon only just cleared me for weights and I'm 2 months out. How many calories a day are you on? Are you tracking your food? If not, I recommend an online tracker called fatsecret.com If you want, you can check me out there and look at my diet calendar to get an idea of how I'm eating at 2 months out. I'm globetrotter there too. Hope this helps!:lol0:

100 lbs in Six Months...almost!
I am so excited for you! Jealous isn't the right word - more like eager to hear all the details from a fellow explorer who has finally made it to the place I too wish to explore and I'm hungry (haha) for details. If I may ask, what was your starting weight and what is your current weight? Also, what is your menu/exercise like during this losing phase? Congratulations so so much!
-
Am I 'on track' ??
It's not fast, but there's nothing bad about a 33 pound loss!! I consider myself to be a slow loser and I was about that at my 2 month mark.

I know it won't bring world peace but ...
Ya know, I look forward to buying cheap clothes. It's ironic, because the really beautiful fashionable high quality clothes only come in size 12 or less, really size 10 or less, but it is also the regular/thin women who can buy the cute cheap clothes. Ours are cheaply made, yet expensive. I look foward to buying a cute cheap little cotton dress at some store like Forever 21, or even buying fabric cheaply because I don't need 5 yards of it.
